Also note that bind's don't work if you are "alted" or focused on the chat window, so if you see 'press alt to return to game', the bind won't work. Try walking a few steps then hit the button. If all else fails you can click the little chat bubble in the bottom left of the chat screen, there is a set channel menu, and you can choose the one you want to be focused on.

What led you to the thought I was an idiot? On my PC NumLock gets turned off only when the electricity disappears.

I just tried what mantater said but it still won't work. When I press "Enter" to activate the chat textbox, I can see "press alt to....".
Well, f*ck it, I can live without that key either. :)

You are the first one mentioning the word "idiot" in the context with yourself. sorry for trying to be helpful. Won't happen again.

Suggesting someone is that dumb to miss turning on the NumLock - that is not being helpful. It's an insult, so don't play surprised about my reply.

Attempting to eliminate all possible sources of error is being thorough, not casting aspersions on the person having the problem. Your hostility is seriously misplaced.

That doesn't work. I pasted that command in the chat but when I press Numpad 7 nothing happens.

Please try another key, if numpad7 is giving you a problem - like try:

/bind numpad9 "startchatwith /c nw_legit_community "

or use some other key, in place of 'numpad9' if the number pad is giving you a problem...

*I use the numpad 7 bind every day, so I know it works. I am sorry you are having difficulty. Good luck!

What would be the name of the comma key? The ' , '? Maybe the problem is not with the numpad at all but how Windows interprets the keys names and therefore how the game reacts based on that. There are some differences with keys names in Windows XP and in my OS - Windows 7. So, maybe I should try with a non-numpad key, like comma, for instance. But idk what would comma's name would be. I doubt it would work if I type /bind comma ....... in the chat textbox.

I don't know if the comma is reserved or not, but AFAIK you could just try:

/bind , "startchatwith /c nw_legit_community "

Just joined the channel a couple days ago. Its really nice to see good players ready to roll without the ol, whats your GS and class question. Plus its awesome to see posters on the forums there in chat.

I ran ToS 3 times today with really good honest players. All greed runs without any issues. All players were polite and helpful.

I made sure when I was playing to try to leave a good impression so others would know what kind of player I am. It seems all the others were doing the same. I ran with a GWF my first ToS and he got his T2 piece. It was good to see him get it.

I would run with him again in a heartbeat. Anyway, glad to have joined you all today. Keep up the good work!

As there now tends to be a lot more gossip on this channel rather than people looking for dungeon / skirmish groups etc .
I created a secondary channel nw_legit_partysearch .
I hope that nobody objects to creating it ( Dardove etc ) and that maybe it could be used for people actually looking for dungeons , the way it used to be .

Great idea, Its getting harder to see the requests as people are chatting more and more. Not that thats a bad thing. But I like to use the channel more for looking for T1/T2 parties.

Thanks for doing that, I will add it to my list of channels.

I'm not sure about the channel you mentioned - that may be another one someone else created... I'm specifically referring to NW_Legit_Community.

I put in the partysearch channel as another option as the community channel is SO full of chat it's sometimes hard to see / want to read all the nonsense in order to find parties .
I haven't seen anyone use it though as most folk either don't know or care that it's there .

Well, I don't know if adding more channels is the solution - the reason that there's so much chatter is because there's a lot more people using it - the amount of chatter is nowhere as bad as PE zone, though...

I know , but my understanding of the original idea was to help people find groups to do dungeons etc in a legit manner .
This channel has expanded beyond that and at times DOES resemble PE zone chat with all the vitriol that does occasionally get spewed out .
This secondary channel if utilised could go back to that original idea for finding parties and people then would have the choice to partake in one or both channels as they see fit .
But if no-one knows or wants to use it then it's a moot point .
I leave that up to the people within the legit community to make their own choice .

pelgrax , I understand your concerns - the thing is, short of having the channel moderators come down on any sort of non-LFG conversations, people will still chat there. I'd prefer the channel remain "open" with regards to how people use it, vs it being a "police state" where only LFG chat is allowed...

The real problem is that there's very little party search anymore, even during DDs, and the channel recently has been constantly filled with vitriol and arguing and insults. I've been ignoring people at a rate that alarms me.

I'm all for chat and discussion, but lately it's been a flame fest half the time when I get on at night to do my invoke passes.

Mod 3 did a lot of the DD group killing, people now just use their daily key, and the Mod 4 preview changes are the cause of all the arguing, so I don't know that either is fixable, but it's gotten to the point where I log on, look at the flamefest of Legit, and do my invoke pass and go to bed without even bothering with my dailies because ugh.

(cough cough)
I think i mentioned it few times, over the last few months...

Imo, It all began not with mod 3 or 4, but with few other things:
1. When a language of drunk medieval sailor in a brothel became the norm, and every second line is either a sexual innuendo or a plain profanity.
Imo, some is appropriate, fun, or expressive, (And i used them) but when it is the norm it is just not mature and lowers the conversation level. And lowers peoples willing to be polite.
(And don't think I'm prude, I play dota 2 with Russians - enough said.)

2. Dev bashing, RNG whining and just whining about anything possible became the norm....
Justified or not, the channel should not be a therapeutic outlet...
There is limit how many times one can read about peridots (we all get them, and especially 3 days a after the new xp levels when 3 days before everyone got nothing)

There is no ZEN listed to sell, about 100k queue (nothing compared to now and took about a hour of waiting) -> "no way to get zen now thanks to *******, open your wallets" when a person knows that all you need is to list a buy..

3. Mocking of new joiners and GS, earlier most legit members knew each other (at least in the same time zones) and people had no problem carrying or helping and trying to do a dungeon even if it meant wiping.
So GS was irrelevant and a mark of people in the channel willing to help.
Now it's an either opportunity to mock someone new without explaining that used to the LFG ways (I have a feeling those people will not try to make groups again.)
Or entire conversation about GS and Epeens.

Those and more reason plus the fact that many of the more 'active' people left (specially people who used to form groups and run e.g gelf, vic and others) and those that got tired of the reasons i wrote above left to / formed guilds.. (i know personally of many of those). Left the channel not with 2800 people, but only 2800 'on paper' and allot of bad attitude.

I've joined the channel when it had about 300-400 people, and we had fun chatting or forming groups from searching grumpy wizards to useless slaves as meat shields, all was in good spirit and in fun. And now as many others (in example my guild which made from 'older-not-liking-the-situation' legit members') I will put it with zone and lfg, after trying to call out the bashing and whining and probably deemed trolling by new members. And only stay on legit on paper as active and total.
(well, probably will jump to answer a question about binds, same as zone, but no place for anything else left..)

PS. last runs that i joined on legit
(in long time since always do in guild now and just wanted to help people gear):
One was camp run and die in SP at final boss...
The other was need on all greed run no matter how many times it was explained.

PS2: I'm more referring the the quality of the chat and not quantity, as the channel was usually used for chat and game questions/discussions besides LFG and i think especially at times around DD when most people where on-line but already finished DD.

well, this discussion seems interesting and important enough that even I join in. (and as an advance: if you find grammar mistakes and typos, keep them, i´m not a native speaker so have patience with my babbling please. ^^)

I mostly joined the legit channel because my friends dragged me there more or less. Or rather, they were active there, filled our dungeon groups with the channel and i wanted to see and experience the place myself. And it was a breath of fresh air! Not only did i find skilled players to run with at every DD, the discussions and conversations were eyeopeners too. I´d say a good portion of my skill and experience come from my friends, but another, just as big chunk, comes from watching and reading the people in legit channel, So yes, I´m all in favour of there being conversations about the game, the playstyles, the classes and gears. Back in the days, there were a lot of helpfull people and no question seemed too stupid. everything got answered. In a serious fashion! I found the guild of my dream in legit. But apparently all good things must come to an end, doesnt it?
These days i dont switch often into the channel, and 70% of the time i do, i regret it. why? Here´s some topics and phrases i was forced to watch:
People defending some cases of exploits. (That made even Dardove switch off the channel for a while)
Real life politics, including the defending of the death penalty
One person saying that another doesnt get groups because he doesnt exploit enough. suggestion: "Cheat more!" (and if the person reads that, i dont care if it was meant in sarcasm or not. if yes, care to make it obvious. I didnt include your name for a reason, so if you wanna reveal yourself: your choice)
I watched trolling, and making fun of newb questions to the point where i took pity and send the asking person a tell to explain everything they wished for.
Also nice where i simply used the queue and ended up with another legit member... who quit during the event and went to legit to complain and whine about the bad team s/he had to suffer. Making stuff up that simply werent true about myself and the (unknown to me) teammates.

Please dont misunderstand me, it´s a game, we are here to have fun, most of us also go to legit to have fun. But political discussions, class bashing ("Wheeee, Cw and GWF finally get what they deserve"), HAMSTER jokes, trolling, is that the only way to have fun? Complaining and whining and drama being the only way?
I´m glad i found the guild of my dreams, as i called them before, as it contains the members of legit that made up most of the old style of the channel. fun and banter and helping each other out, class discussions, and yes, even discussions about real life.
So moderating the channel more? Might be a good idea. Not to enforce it to become a pure LFG channel, but to call it to order at times maybe.

Yeah, I have a high tolerance for BS, but it's gotten frustrating for me too, most of the regulars have left the channel or the game entirely, and most nights I come on to either silence or flaming and issues getting groups formed. I'm ignoring people at an alarming rate, and I end up turning the channel off or just going offline.

And yeah, it's been going downhill for a while, Janne, but the Mod 4 arguments are where it's really seriously gotten nasty and insulting.

I suppose I should look for a guild, but I wouldn't know where to start. I've never looked for one. But yeah, it's getting to that point. Doesn't seem like the mods are ever on, either, so that's little help.

A lot of LFG people have admitted joining the channel just to gear as legit happens to be populated with a lot of skilled players. However, they are easy to spot and easier to ignore. Then they are out of your life forever, no big deal.

Someone acting or saying something stupid? Ignore.

The channel has certainly become a hotspot for 'know-it-alls' and people stating opinions as if they are facts, and that can be annoying, but overall, I still find awesome groups that have a great time 20 times for every 1 that isn't fun.

I haven't really noticed alot of heated arguments and I have no issues discussion game theories in channel.. I think some people are a little more adamant about their setups then others.

I enjoy the channel still and there are alot of really helpful people in it, who don't care of what class you are to group with. They are always quick to offer advice for builds as well as alot of helpful knowledge.

Ya there are jerks in every channel, I still think legits percentage is nil compared to lfg and you wont be expected to know every stupid glitch and cheat in the game to run through a t2.. then get mocked because you didn't know that you could jump around on some stupid pillars someplace to avoid mobs..

All games have people who come and go, dont get too caught up in it, things change and take on their own forms over time. Legit is still the best gaming community in this game and allows alot of people who have smaller guilds or dont know what to do a safer environment to join.

Had a sobering experience today. Anyway, I started on the legit channel a few months ago, after I levelled a CW pve toon to support my pvp HR. After doing runs with LFG channel and pugging, legit was a breath of fresh air. Everyone was honest with greed rolls, and no-one ran from campsite to campsite leaving the squishies behind to get killed by adds. Made DD hours profitable and enjoyable.

But today unfortunately was different. Had a run in ToS that was pretty much indistinguishable from the bad old days in pug. Running past adds to campsites... check. People accidently rolling need on boss drops... Check. Other people defending those need rolls... Check.

So, a lot of new faces on the legit channel, maybe a quick rule review.

1) within reason, legit doesn't care about your class, or your gs score.
2) loot rolls are greed on absolutely everything - whether it's a green piece of HAMSTER, or that boe armor that you've been wanting forever. No exceptions, no excuses past maybe that first time ever on the channel.
3) don't run through adds unless everyone can do it. For example there are 3 places in karru where the whole group can wiggle past big mobs without anyone getting killed. Other than those places, kill everything. It's not like it takes very long, and it saves people a long run and an injury kit, let alone the damage they could have been doing to help the team in the meantime. Don't run.

And that's it. 3 golden rules that stand between a legit channel run and a pug. Break them, and the legit channel becomes just another lfg, devil take the hindmost, kick the weakest bs fest.

Keep it clean people.
No idea what my toon is now.
