In all honesty should be official, because, gives everyone a fair chance at drops, I've being in runs where nothing for my class(w/e class im using any given day) drops, kinda sad, also a way to avoid ninjas...still might happen, its just my opinion. But at the same time, say something that X player really need, it drops, its an upgrade to the player, but the leader wont let him need it, so he greed to avoids problems, and who knows when that its gonna drop again. Then the person that got the item will probably try to sell it to that X player or AH the item for quite a lot. In the end its all on what the group have agreed on, before even getting on the queue or when inside.
I understand your concerns, truly I do. The purpose of the channel is strictly as a place for non-cheaters/non-exploiters to find like-minded people to team with. I don't want it to become overly regulated, as that may dissuade people from using it. The best advise I can offer is to talk to your teammates before you enter the dungeon. Work out what sort of loot rules you want to go with, and stick to it. Add those that you like teaming with as friends, and perhaps you together can come to an understanding about how loot should be rolled for, when you're together.
Again, it's not that you point isn't valid - it's just that the channel is there solely to bring legit players together...

On top of what Bioshrike and Dardove said, chances are if somebody's using the Legit Community they likely aren't somebody that would need on all items. In my opinion it is just plain respectful to greed on things and give everybody an equal shot at rewards.
While it is not officially regulated it is more or less self regulated by the type of players within the legit community.

I understand, i was just saying what i would do (if it was a dictatorship :P), but its not good to do it even if it could be done just because of all the variety (dont even know if i spelled the word right) of players. I personally dont run with a specific group nor specific people because i feel it limits my capacity to improve as a player (different players, different game styles, different reactions to the same situation), i always ask if its a greed run to the party leader and make sure everyone knows.

Oh yeah we understand completely.
However the other side of the coin is if everybody agrees to the terms why not let them distribute however they want to? There's no need to impose rules that can be set up by the party itself.
The channel is just grouping tool and community builder. In truth the only rule really have is to follow the PWE rules. As long as people are do not we really don't want to step on the toes.
I don't know how long I've been using legit, but it's been a while and I must say it was the best equipment find in this whole game.
The people are mostly great, willing to help out others be it helping with dungeons they need or advice about setup and gear.
The chat is mostly either fun or informative often both.
And I've made some great friends their too.
I i agree with the need for rules of conduct but perhaps there is need for practical guidelines or "tips" more urgently.
In example:
1. When lfg don't post spam rapidly, many don't have zone/lfg/trade on the same tab - the chat doesn't scroll anywhere.
This! But it does depend on what you have set up on different tabs. I have legit on 3 of my tabs, lfg and trade relegated to a tab I only use for giggles. Default is zone/say/legit/tell, guild tab is guild/legit/tell. I think as people spend more time in legit they are more likely to go along these lines and therefore less likely to spam from the POV of people with few channels on a tab.
Hi,
2. No need to post "15k gs + stone + exp + super perfect vorpal", - imo as much as stating gs is helpful it creates more problems than its worth, just class, where you would like to go (t1,t2,t2+, mc...) and if you going there the first time and perhaps if need DD items. That will give enough info for the party leader and prevent GS "wars".
This, sort of. I never post my resume anymore and having been around legit for a while don't often even bother with my class. Again I think the longer people use legit, the less they will post the full string of 25k dc + stone + cat + p.(insert) + p.(insert) + R12's + Phd + etc...etc... If I'm setting up a party I'm more interested in whose daft enough to run with me.
That said this and point 1 are often indicators of new members to the community and so it gives a chance to welcome them.
I do think saying it's your 1st run at a dungeon is a great idea, it was a comment like that that got me nursed through MC the 1st few times by some of the great peeps on the channel (and gives me bragging rights about doing it at minimum GS).
More about need elsewhere.
Not this...especially TR's with 1st names starting with "J", cos they is theives :P (luvs ya really)
But sort of related, although I understand you can't make rules on groupings, I like to encourage variety within a group.
1) it allows for different tactics and different people for me to dump mobs on
2) I find it also helps lag, or maybe it's running with one or more other CW's creates lag
3) Most importantly, people join legit to play, it's unfair if certain classes are getting left out.
It think it will help and more practical than general rules. And if possible to add some sort of automatic post each time when person loges to chat ( char login - when the chat is still clear ) - "for channel guidelines and rules please visit http://......".
I saw message of the day and other options in custom channel options but no idea if it is possible.
I do like the idea of a MotD along the lines of the guild one. Be it for pointing to guidelines (cos I don't think there should be rules beyond PWE/Cryptic's) or for point to this thread or some other reason.
Having waffled on for ages, it just remains for me to say a great big thank you for setting up the legit channel!!
Unless someone says something, it is generally expected to run "greed all" nowadays in the legit channel.
I'd add a caveat to this..generally expected once you've been around the channel a while, new peeps will not know this unless told and generally does not mean unanimously.
I don't think it should be a rule, best to agree at the start of each run, then there is (or should be) no mistake.
Also there are different definitions of "Greed All"
1) Everything, shards enchants etc (cos that's the easiest)
2) Everything that is class specific, everything else can be needed.
I've seen this debate a few times in chat.
TBH my rule is greed all unless you say upfront you are looking for some specific piece of gear and most importantly the part that Dardove taught me - the most important thing is don't be a d*ck about it.

And btw, bioshrike, except of looking into channel options and diving inside it's details i couldn't find a way to see the message of the day, i hope there is a way, because i feel like the work on the rules will be for nothing if not many sees it.
It never automatically appears.
That is a longstanding issue with motd for channels. Has been that way since Champions Online launched. I just don't think anyone has poked Cryptic about getting it fixed.
Indeed... I will spell things out as clearly as I can, but I also want to keep the amount of regulation in-channel to a minimum.
i completely agree with this and would also like to remind others that if someone is annoying you in the channel, you still have your own tools to self-moderate. i think the idea of having channel mods in the first place is not to limit the channel, but just to have someone there in case moderation is a necessity.

What i proposed was by no means rules or something to enforce.
It's just already a common practice / tradition and the first thing people notice when a new person joins the channel.
I suggested a list of tips to for people to more easily adjust to channels "norms".
Btw the all greed is also something that can be added, so people will know to ask to make sure or know that many run all greed runs and not be surprised.
Again, not rules to enforce, but more a summery of "social norms" and perhaps explanation for them, and being not the core rules, those suggestions can change more easily as things evolve and change.
It's a shame to see a new people put to ignore lists because they spamming "lfg ..." every few seconds and not knowing better. (well, and not listening to people telling them to stop, but thats something else)
Or generally treating the channel more like an lfg channel rather than a community while the channel grew to be much more.
I'm sorry, but no. Mimics demand sacrifices so they will be feed.
Only legit cleric-eating mimics are allowed - if they cheat or exploit, they're out!
Oh! And I checked earlier - we're at over 1800 members now! Congrats, legits!

If any class is going to be fed to mimics, it should be the HR. At current population density, it's only a matter of time before pandemics set in. Best management practice is to cull them before this happens.

Personally I don't care what class is feed to the mimics as long as someone is.

No no no, i was trying to feed a DC on purpose, it is well known that if you feed a DC to a mimic it has a chance to drop a vorpal !
Though i must admit i got bitten much more than the specific, elusive, and not cooperative DC. Was it so hard to be sacrificed for a chance for perfect vorpal for me ?? No team thinking at all !
Just think of how much more those bites would have hurt without foresight and astral shield!

NW_Legit_Community has broken the 2000-member mark. I have begun the ball rolling in regards to running a friendly contest that all channel members will be able to participate in, and there will be prizes for the winners! Check the MotD on the channel or this thread, over the next week or so, to learn how to take part!
Congrats too all those who made this milestone possible!

I have a few ideas for a contest. Please provide your feedback:
1. A 5 syllable/7 syllable/5 syllable Haiku that's about NW and uses "legit" somewhere in it.
2. A NW-related joke contest.
3. A simple random number guessing game.
4. I'm open to other suggestions you may have.
Thanks again!

Since many Legit channel jokes are focused on stacking CWs, high arbitrary gear score requirements for parties, x/y dungeons and mimics - the optimal joke should be, 'lf4m 20k GS w/stone CW for CT 2/3, must know the mimics.'

hellow im playing a guardian fighter i personaly love this class do i have better chances to get in a grp in this channel ? for pve
As a GF you (and DCs) are given priority in queues, so getting a group should not be hard.
That said, getting a good group is a different thing altogether. I have found no problems getting into groups, even with my reputation, and there have been no bad groups just the odd inexperienced or under geared group.
Also there is less emphasis on class in the legit channel and even less on GS etc. It is rare that GS requirements are asked for, you are expected to know what is needed to get into the different dungeons and have that when asking to go.
It is a nice to do to let people know if you are new to a particular place, but there are generally people about who are happy to go with people so they can get experience. Having cleared all but EDV (yuck), I'm always happy to run where people want to go and there are many others that are too.

I'd say you have very good chances, even as a run-of-the-mill GF, I have not had much trouble finding groups. Most people are decent players, too, so you should be able to get a solid group, even if far behind the cookie-cutter-cheese optimized ones.
