Well I for one don't approve at all, ofc I would like to reroll myself into mr superhero with all the minmax stats but you made a choice and should be forced to stick with it. Just my two cents.
it was a choice at character creation when you know nothing about the game this shouldnt impact your endgame... but its huge.. CW for example tiefling with 18 cha 18 int... 8% to start out with most people would go for more int heavy build when 18/18 is the best for CW.... You wouldnt know this at the character creation. You wouldnt know this till endgame when you actually learned some things about the game.

Reading through this thread, I keep thinking to myself, "Min-maxing munchkin, much?".
It's a respec, to let you redistribute the points you've spent as you leveled up.
It's *not* a retcon, to let you alter your DNA, change your past, and be something completely different than what you really are.
How could you "screw up" your creation stats, anyway? So your cleric started with 18 WIS, 13 STR, and 13 CHA, and you're not happy with your 26 WIS or whatever. Well then, don't spend your stat points on WIS this time, and bump up STR or CHA instead.
It sounds like folks are trying to figure out which of the three primary stats for their class is a dump stat, and the obvious answer is that none of them are dump stats and they all do something useful. It's up to you to decide which use you want to focus on. So, when you respec, allocate your stat points differently than you did last time and get on with it. Stop trying to be that munchkin at the table that wants the DM to let them change their race, sex, and base stats halfway through the campaign once they learn that it's a little easier for large-breasted human girls with high DEX and CON to steal from all the merchants in town.
Right but at character creation you have NO CLUE what the 3 stats actually do for your class.... because wis is clerics main stat you would think raising this stat as high as possible with your initial rolls would be the way to go.... but its not more CHA is the way to go.
lol kelvin you sound ignorant with that post, point is, with the lack of stat descriptions @character creation, people have the tendency to screw up their rolls, not everyone searches for guides at character creation just to see which stats are the best for the toon they are making. Hell, you don't even need those if they properly listed the stat bonuses when you roll your abilities at the start bec with that info you can already make an informed choice- at least if they had descriptions they have an excuse to not include ability score rolling in respecs. Plus, more often than not, your 18 13 13 sux, you get 2 less total points that could've been useful somewhere else especially for a cleric. Only thing I can think of where 18 13 13 is o-k is on a gwf (if you are not getting 17-13-14 or 16-12-16).
true all primary stats are useful but it does not mean that one isn't better than the other.
I can't understand why you cant reroll your ability scores when using the respec token. It just makes no sense that we cant reroll them after using a respec token. You can't really fully change your toon's build without rerolling those stats no matter how little change it might do.
Example:
Changing from a wis-heavy cleric into a more efficient cha cleric
ex. Tiefling with a base 18WIS 13 13 (20WIS 13 13 with 12 INT) vs. Tiefling with 16WIS 16CHA 12 (16WIS 18 CHA 12 with 14 INT)
Yes you can get all the related feats that you want and all the recovery items that you want but those extra 7% recharge time from stats will be very essential to your build change.
Changing from a defensive build into a more offensive/balanced one in both fighters.
ex. if you are on a full 18 13 13 or 17 14 14 full defensive (GF)/offensive (GWF) build and would like to balance your stats, you obviously need to turn it into the 16 16 12 one so you get balanced bonuses.
end game you get a potential 26 19 15 or 25 20 15, on the balanced stats you get 22 24 14 that extra 3%/2% from the secondary stat that you want is not something that you can ignore, no matter how small, it helps you optimize your build.
Again, I really don't get it- can't they just include this feature when using the respec token. You change your whole setup but you are still stuck with the same base stats? How is that "retraining"? It feels like part of your toon is still stuck on your previous build.
Now here's the question, is this something that they are working on currently or something that they plan to sell as a different item shop thing in the future?
Your thoughts? I hope the devs read this.
I agree. After they killed the cleric, I even think class should be changeable. A cleric that can't heal, that has no deflect to speak of, no damage other than a daily that makes no sense for it, no effective heals either for party or even for self (my cleric fails to heal itself beyond 1/3rd of its health bar with 3 divinity casts of healing word or 1 cast of AS) and defense that is so weak that it can't defend against anything isn't what people who made clerics signed up for.

Clerics are fine, they are just different now, this isn't the cry about healng thread, and clerics are fine btw, they are still clearing all the content they were before with ease.
However, I do agree that they should be allowed to re-roll initial ability scores based on the sweeping class changes that were just introduced, it completely changes the way a person would want to roll their points.

true i dont even mind if they just allow us once this time to reroll it because of the aforementioned changes

Personally, I don't think re-speccing in terms of feat points and the ability points after creation should be a moneymaker. It should be cheap and easy. I can see charging 100-200 ZEN to be allowed to re-roll, though - that actually makes sense in my mind.

having two clerics I disagree, there is nothing fine about the cleric right now... I no longer care to play when I'm in the game, PvP yeah right, game play for what end purpose??? the cleric has totally been ruined
we still clear everything with one cleric, just have to rework your tactics and have better communication.
anyway yep. they gave us free respecs so that we can change our builds in accordance to the new balance patch, yet they failed to allow us to completely reset by not allowing us to reroll our abilities, such big balance patches should come with a free ability reroll
Thank you, I've twice rerolled my GWF instead of buying a respec token because of this. He was lvl 52 the 2nd time I did this. It is becoming harder to stay motivated to relvl him the 3rd time. Would hate to do it a 4th.

Yes, please! This is common sense! We need this. The descriptions of what the stats do are vague at character creation. I don't want to delete my characters.

Not just vague, but actually badly misleading since for at least two classes (TR and DC)the so-called primary attribute is significantly worse than the secondary ones.......

Just bought the respec token from Zen Market. But i cant respec my feats. What's wrong?
I used my free respec token because I just assumed ability score would be included. When I first started I didn't notice the +2 features at the bottom and I chose the wrong one for my class. An easy mistake anyone could make. Now at level 56 my build is almost complete exept my ability scores are out of whack. I would glady pay for the zen to re-roll again if they fix it so you can re-do your ability scores from scratch, not just give you the points.
Just want to bump this again because I think MANY players (Kripp posted about this when he was playing) who dont know anything about the game from the get go roll whatever and assume its cool... I mean how much could you mess up a character right?
Well to be honest, I even researched out my rolls before making them and while I am content with them, I would still change my allocation from what it is, I cant even imagine how disheartening this would be for a player who DID really mess up their character.
This really needs to happen I dont care if its offered 1 free per character but even having to pay for it would REALLY help out some people... This is a NEEDED feature in the game, I dont see how it would hurt the game at all and most players are unwilling to reroll a character and forgo their main just for the few points (forgo their gear too).
I can understand a race choice being permanent as well as class (obviously) but starting stats? I dont see why not... It only makes more people happy, makes cryptic/PWE more money and the game loses NOTHING!

and the game doesn't inform you about the stuff you really need to know when making your characters... I was told that I need to use Wikipedia, well Wikipedia last I knew wasn't even part of this game

Personally i found the "possible" rolls page and was able to make an educated decision about it and it has played out well... But I would rather stack a different stat more if I could, just saying...
TO REALLY ILLUSTRATE THIS, I haev a RL friend I convinced to give this game a try. I thought he was going to play a CW but decided to roll a cleric instead (w/e I just dont know anything about them) We finally met up after creating characters and I inspected to see what rolls he took... He had horrible rolls and like 14-15 STR... I told him to reroll the stats and recreate cause he got horrible rolls and he even said, "its fine cause ill just allocate future points to fix that or I can respec later" I told him "no, you actually cant and you only get a max of +6 to add to any stat..." He was confused that the mechanics would be that bad and had no idea you couldnt even do that... He just wanted to try the game out first so he didnt think it was important to research the game before playing...
It shouldnt be like that! And since it is, you should be able to reverse it! He is leveling and playing ULTRA casually but I could really see this being an issue for other players...
It makes no sense to allow a respec of everything but ability rolls. It can't be that hard to fix, and would just sell more respec tokens. It really needs to be fixed.
There were a few new things added to the Zen store today, everytime i see new stuff posted on the Zen store I'll be hoping this is one of them.
Same here, yet instead of what so many seem to want, and openly ask and plead for, like ability score rerolls or race changers, they add... new companions. But not the obvious ones people have talked about, like a better healer or something (many complain the lvl 15 one dies too easily etc), but instead... a spider... yet another tank (there were 2 already)... yet another mage (with repel...)... I fail to see the logic in Cryptic's decisions.
You are right, the logic behind such decisions seems so , err I can't think of an appropriate word, but just know there is the perfect one for these type of decisions...
