I don't think I've seen an MMO launch with this much maintenance (every day? seriously?), this much class imbalance (useless GF/GWF, too much heal aggro, etc.), and this many exploits.
And before you say to me, oh it's not a launch its still beta, PUH-LEASE wake up and smell the roses this game is full soft launch in every way imaginable, Cryptic only calls it a beta cos they dont want to be held liable for any bugs that are found.
I've lived through most MMO launches. Anarchy Online was bad,but .... this game and Defiance are neck and neck for taking the new lead in shame.

This game is still in, "beta", so technically it hasn't even, "launched", also if you question whether or not, " is this the most disastrous MMO launch in history?" , you have not been playing MMO's for very long.

In WoW, my server was offline for 3 days at launch. There were numerous bugs and exploits, most of the endgame was impossible for one reason or another, and classes had a wide variety of imbalance issues.
This is pretty standard-issue.
Rise of the Fell King - A Forgotten Realms campaign (work in progress) NWS-DS38FJ5R8 Part One: The Fell Cavern (looking for feedback!) NW-DTWX9RBQH Hopefully more to come!
D3 was pretty band and when WoW was having exploits the forums got so heated they were forced to shut down the forums for days because it was full of death threats and rage against blizzard.
I am going to assume you were never there for the Diablo 3 launch...If you think this is bad, you must be new to MMO's
Yes I was actually, i played from day one. And no, that launch was nowhere near as bad. There wasn't maintenance everyday and there were nowhere near as many exploits. Even the few exploits that were found here and there were patched VERY quickly.
Not even close. Look at Aion, Age Of Conan, Vanguard.
Those were absolutely TERRIBLE launches.
And I remember even Guild Wars having a glitch like this that was exploited once. It got fixed and everything went back to normal. So I wouldnt suggest pushing the panic button right now lol.
Jsut relax, in a couple days or so everything is gonna be back to normal.
Blood Pressure Rising!
And I not sure this is the worst one I lived though, I though the xpac released for WoW were pretty bad mostly but that might of been from everyone and their mom logging in at the same time.
And I thought FFXIV was the most disastrous launch of an MMORPG ever. I mean it was so bad that Square Enix literally had to apologize for even making the game at all and are remaking a vast majority of the game as FFXIV-2 just to try and redeem themselves... yeah I'd say that's a lot better than the usual rough beta periods that MMORPGs can have.
Also MMORPGs are related by their sustainability, not their start. Look at Star Wars the old republic, great start but basically failed within a few months because the game was incredibly boring and people were only playing it for the story line.
Christ, you guys didn't even mention the final fantasy launch? I believe they're still emailing apologies while they work on why the game sucked so bad.

It is a beta though. I don't think it is a liability thing, more the fact that they wanted to make money, so they launched what they called an open beta. That is exactly the reason why I have not spent a single dollar on the game and I'm baffled by anyone that has. I mean, okay, buying a founders pack or whatever is one thing, that's the equivalent of a preorder/buying a special collectors edition/whatever. It is something that there's a physical copy of, something that I imagine if a big enough event happened could be refunded, or in the case of a wipe, simply given back again. Until they were confident enough to call this game a launch though, I didn't see any reason why I should spend any money, and I honestly can't imagine why anyone else would.
This is why investing money into pay to win games is pointless. I feel a lot more secure investing 10-15 a month into a game I can play and quit if they let the economy go to hell. Their main concern with this game will always be about how to rake in the most amount of cash possible.

Uhm the game hasnt launched its in beta, however Cryptic has had its fair share of disasterous launches (STO) probally being the worst.... Probally why they have decided to go with the Perma Beta approach lol....

You're complaining about there being frequent maintenance? You DO know that they don't just shut the servers off for a few hours, stare at the wall, and turn them back on right? They use that time to tackle issues players have reported. Complaining about frequent server maintenance and exploits is an oxymoron.
This is the biggest disaster in the history of mankind. Some day we will be telling our children about how horrible it was. This and the obesity epidemic. SO TRAGIC. By god I had to eat food and watch TV today! It was horrible!
yeah I find this hard to believe TBH. Alot of games have exploits, hackers and cheaters find one way or another to get into ANY game they want. And now that Cryptic is trying to fix this, they all throw a hissy fit. There have been worse exploits in other games. People need to relax.

If something does top that, that game needs to get shut down.
