There scam is they try to front load as much money as they can out of you in the beginning, like the founders $200 pack, and all the other **** they come up with, games like wow might cost you $180 a year, but thats a month by month basis of $15 bucks, you might quit after only 4 months and that would of cost you $60, now PWE wants you to spend as much as you can in the beginning on stuff like bags, respecs, basic stuff.

You could easyily spend hundreds of dollars the first month in this game, and then if you decide the game sucks, or there is just to many exploits and other problems, you are out a lot of money upfront, in a short amount of time, and the direction this game seems to be going, i think there is gonna be a lot more pissed off people.
    This.

Why should I have respect for someone who refuses to better themself in a country that is founded on making your own way in life? You choose to be a slave and play video games instead of working on your future, that is your own fault and you deserve what you get.

you hit the nail on the head OP. For some $6 is nothing.. I actually HAMSTER $10 bills. But that's where the concept of value comes in. You progress so fast in this game you don't even realize the effect of choices you've made until it's too late and you need to respec. Granted, not everyone will HAVE to respec, but given my in game conversations, respec'ing is VERY common in this game, and don't get me started on dual specs. What MMO with PVE and PVP doesn't have dual spec? This one for starters.

All the games you mentioned are bottom of the barrel (maybe D&DO could be considered a single A title, AA if you pushed the fanbois hard enough.) Some dinky dev group grabs a generic asian MMO engine and make a game. The game is pretty much a Play Station 3 title in terms of quality finish and depth. They'll bring in the most players they'll ever have the first month and will do everything they can to make as much as they can in that time so they can move to the next cookie cutter MMO.

And that is the overall problems with the MMO genre as a whole. Too many low quality titles that should really be on an Xbox or PS3. Too many "gamers" who's PCs can't even begin to run a AAA MMO title.

Look at the qq tears on the Planetside 2 site. Probably the best F2P game out right now due to great graphics, fair cash shop and the amazing amount of time the devs spend communicating with players and improving the game. But it's a demanding game as far as hardware goes and a lot of the PC "gamers" these days are trying to run a game like that on a laptop their parents bought them for school work, not high end video games.

Current PC "gamers" are a new breed. They no longer want to upgrade their drivers, optimize their systems or anything that is pretty much mandated the day you leave your console behind. New gamers want the Xbox experience on their PC. Load the game and play, which is understandable, but crippling to the developers who want to push the envelope.

Another good reason to take a peek at Planetside 2, it uses the Forgelight engine. For all the folks that think NWO looks amazing, you don't have enough perspective. Forgelight was developed in house by SOE, and is being refined in PS2 in order for it to be the game engine for EQ Next. Ponder that for a bit after you take a look at Ps2. Then remember that EQ Next will be an open world/sandbox game. Not a linear "theme park" where no matter how many times you play it, the chances of you seeing the same old thing are greater than discovering or making new content.

It has always been a corporatocracy, that term can also mean capitalism, don't like it go to a socialist country, I hear China needs some more sweat shop workers.

Respeccing is almost mandatory at some point. There is no way you can perfectly spec a character on your first try, even if you spend a ludicrous amount of time researching ahead of time it's possible to make a mistake, or change your mind later.

Charging money for this to begin with is ridiculous, mush less $6.

the problem is not the 6$, the problem is the ridiculous amount of character slots. Is the first game i've ever played that have only 2!!! If i want to play different classes i must pay, if i want a decent mount i must pay, if i want a good companion i must pay, if i want to respec, i must pay, if i want decent gear i must pay.

Probably if there was a kind of toilet in the game, i would've must payed for that too....... ;)
    Got it?

    1. There's 4 classes currently... you really need 1 of each?

    2. Decent mounts are in cash shop as with almost all F2P mmo, no surprise.

    3. The best companion in the game is free at level 16, everyone complains how the epic companions sucks. It's really to look cool only.

    4. Respecc cost a lot i agree. But it's not a type of game that requires 12 respec per month maybe 1 at 60 if you screwed up.

    5. Decent gear drops or are acquired. People buying them with real money are basically throwing their money as they are so easy to acquire and drops. At the end in few weeks everyone will have the very same gear. Only some lazy players bought them but if they can buy it, its because there's people dropping more gears than they need. As those gears are loots, not magically appearing from cash shop.

As a frequent MMO hopper I was finding it odd that people were so upset over $6 resets. Almost every game that i've played that started f2p (not p2p transitions since they were developed with skill resets in-game) has had some pretty ridiculously priced resets.

Just to name a quick few:

    Neverwinter - $6
    Runes of Magic - $10
    Dungeons & Dragons Online - $12
    Phantasy Star Online 2(JP) - $13
    Continent of the ninth seal(C9) - $20
    Dragon Nest - $20

But there are many more lesser known games that charge similar prices as these. I don't remember a single game with a price as low as this where you could also earn the currency through in-game means. I'm not saying this to justify NWO's pricing, but you guys are taking this way too seriously. NWO is being WAY more generous than almost every f2p game out there. Someone please name a game that started with resets in the cash shop that is cheaper than Neverwinter?

Not to mention you have to practically be trying to mess up your power points in this game.

Meh I've been fully F2p and I've gotten 1 feat reset and 2 full resets so far.. Not a big deal.

Let alone if the various feats/powers are broken, and some Paragon paths aren't even available.

But don't worry because the Cryptic fanboyz will be here to defend this too....

Like someone said - if everyone was manager, and buisness owners, we wouldnt have workers. lot must earn low for few else to earn high.

Like I said before ... most F2P players are middle class.. the truly poor won't be wasting time playing an MMO. F2P games are in fact premium games (game is designed to suck money from you either little by little or gregariously). $6 might be a lot for some people or nothing to some people. Let's stop calling people names.

$6 to give unlimited respecs for one character would be more reasonable than the current price which is nigh unaffordable. The price to respec feats in AD is also far too high.

$6 in a game where everything can be earned in game (albeit it takes alot of time) is not really that much of a big deal. come-on $6 is what 600 zen. the AD to zen conversion at the moment is roughly 370AD = 1zen. 600 zen is = 370*600 = 222000 .
now it is wholly possible to get 24000 RAD a day. that means without using the auction house at all it will take 9.25 days to get 600 zen. lets round that up to 10.
now most people will be selling stuff on the AH aswell so lets also factor that in. lets say at a minimum 1000 AD per day from the auction house so the equation factors out to be for x amount of zen (x = (370*x) / ((RAD+AD)/day)) so for a 600 zen we can say (600 = (370*600) / (24000 + 1000) = 8.88 days). obviously you have to take into account how much RAD you get per day and also how much AD your making from auction house but i think its pretty safe to say that at higher levels 12 days (not straight) of gaming is the max its going to take to get a respec...

it's debates like this that make me feel that my choice in careers was not the best i could have chosen. but hey ho it's kind of fun laughing at people complaining about something there being given for free

Personally, I think we should be able to earn them from a certain type of dungeon once a week. But otherwise buy them for $6 or so.
