    Go for Major Decolletage (The
"e" in decolletage should actually be an e-acute)

If cleavage is so offensive then Witchcraft, Tailisman, Sapphire, Mind Slayer, Gravitar, Black Mask, the Maniacs women, the Vampire women, the female joggers, and all of the other women in the game need cover up. And the dev team needs to stop making these ultra offensive, low cut tops for women.

This just makes me want to create a new, male character called Major Package. Oh wait, we don't have a slider for that.

They need to take a page from the saint's row series. In the fairness of equality they have a slider for both men and women.

How obsessed people are with their provoking Character names...

If the Admins changed your name they must have a reason.. and.. its their "House" ...if you behave wrong in "their" opinion you might just obey when they tell you to change...

To give an example I myself had occur once over the years. I made a character once called the Drapist. It was a dark dark on CoX. The bio, the concept all made it clear to any who bothered to look into it that the name was to play off the idea of covering the enemies like pulling curtains of darkness over them.

The character existed for more then a year and then one day genericed and givena tos warning point.

So... you didn't argue a clearly BS warning and decide it means no one else should ?

You're arguing that some things can be offensive to offers so the person should consider not using/doing it.. well sure.. but if that person's a complete fool then fools will always get the wrong idea.

What happened between then (roughly four years ago) and now that caused the name "Major Cleavage" to start getting classified as a violation? There is a discrepancy and the OP has every right to ask questions about the renaming of his character

Like I said before, it's a judgment call. It's a change in personnel that likely caused the discrepancy, not a rule change. This is why I also support disputing the action.

I'm guessing when you get told you have to rename a character, they give you one. Unless they go to the trouble of doing it themselves.

But yes, renames can be free. It means hunting for questionite, converting it, then purchasing the token.

    Have you considered an appeal?

The definitions of cleavage say you might have case.

    For example, if your hero uses a blade of any kind, the first definition - The act of splitting or cleaving - you could begin there. Of course, if the bio makes it clear that the name was purposeful word play only and has no connection to the powers or purpose, well... { shrug }

Personally, I would just skip that and use the name Major Lee Annoyed. Since you are annoyed at having to change you heroes name it seems quite appropriate.

    Good luck.

    Vulgar or sexual? Uh.. no.

Cleavage (crystal), in mineralogy and materials science, is a process of splitting a single crystal.
Cleavage (geology), Foliation perpendicular to stress as a result of ductile deformation. e.g. shales (shists)
Cleavage (embryo), in embryology, is the division of cells in the early embryo.
    Cleavage (fiber), in optical fibers.
Teeth cleavage or tooth cleavage, slang for Diastema (dentistry), the gap between a person's two front teeth.
In cell biology, the Cleavage furrow is the indentation that begins the process of cleavage, by which animal cells undergo cytokinesis.
Bond cleavage in chemistry and biochemistry
Cleavage (politics) The divisions of society that cause people to vote differently
Cleavage (molecular biology), cutting of the 3' signaling region from a newly synthesized pre-messenger RNA (pre-mRNA) molecule in the process of gene transcription.

There is even a video with clever animations and it's actually all kind of cool.

And the "flying spiders" are really more like spider balloonist. Still, it's hard to not imagine giant, mutant tarantulas with bat wings when you here the words "flying spiders."

You'd be absolutely right if every single "Major Cleavage" character was found to be in violation of the rules. At least one that I'm aware of was found to not be a violation by a GM after having reviewed a ticket asking if it was indeed a violation. What happened between then (roughly four years ago) and now that caused the name "Major Cleavage" to start getting classified as a violation? There is a discrepancy and the OP has every right to ask questions about the renaming of his character, especially given how said character was renamed once to "TOS Violation" and then again to the "Badname" format.

Additionally, it's just straight up ridiculous to alow characters to have cleavage, even official characters like Sapphire, but get jumpy when it shows up as part of their name. Slippery slope time: how about we just remove any and all visual options that involve cleavage and nip the entire problem in the bud. That way the only way we can use the word will really only be in regards to cleaving. Sound good, Cryptic? That'll give the GMs less to worry about, eh?

What happened in the last 4 years you ask....

Umm, 2 points of disagreement with that article.

    1. NO. I HATE YOU INTERNET. WHY DO YOU INSIST ON SCARING EVERYONE?!

    2. There wouldn't be any of way getting a decent view or sample size of spiders flying that high (assuming they could, they can't). Furthermore if they were say caught up in a freak upstream and a plane happened to be right there, no one on board would notice.

    *correction 3 points

    3. Arachnids scare the hell out of me. I know what they can do. Many horrible things, but like most wildlife leave them alone and so on and so forth. Fly, they can't.

Jumping however...give it a couple millenia, might see a bowling ball sized spider in a spidernado, so there's that to look forward to.

Look I totally revel in the natural art that is the female form. My idea of going out for a drink is hitting a strip club not just a bar as Id much rather enjoy a drink while resting my weary gaze on the soft sweet curves of a pretty lady.

However people need to grasp a game is not a land of freedom of speech. Its not actually the U.S.A even if its set in a part of it.

Nor should it surprise anyone that PWE run games have the classic issue of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing, let alone what that half of the brain is thinking.

The fact is CO is not an adults game, the only 18+ MMO I can actually think of that isnt just a sex game is Age of Conan, which once long ago was full of potential to be more then a bad WoW clone, had maybe every mature minded gamer gone for it who knows. Many children under the age of 10-12 likely dabble in this FTP super hero themed game that is so easy it practically sells itself to the still developing gaming skills gamer in the making.

So while this may be a case of long delayed generic, and may not be the only one out there, the only real issue that matters is if even ONE other player online saw that character, and found it offensive, by the rules, such a name is genericable. An offensive name is simply put intolerable as it may drive off even one potential customer. Reasonable adults should be able to accept their pun was a step to far and move on, not come QQ on the forums like a butt hurt child telling all the kids how dad spanking him is child abuse.

It was a silly arse name OP, let go and move on. Community grow the frell up, and being able to make a big breasted babe is not the same as calling her boobs macgee.

Simple put if you would not walk up to a random woman with a large pair and say damn baby thats some major cleavage without getting smacked, what makes you think making a walking statement to the same effect should be tolerated in a childrens game.

What is it with the people in this thread that are all "Oh, a GM commanded it, so you should duck your head and walk away and hide! Obey the rules, even if you feel an arbitrary mistake was made!"?

The "rule" is a highly variable judgement call. There's nothing wrong with appealing to a higher authority.

EDIT: And just for the record, I haven't seen the OP "QQ"ing at all. He seems much more confused about it, to me.
