  • The breaking point is chiding people who are being humorously snarky that they are 'contributing to the problem.' Really? People being snarky are encouraging the several hundred grinder/exploiter missions? uh huh. Following Stahl's comments about the players being to blame for not policing clickies, along with pattern of…
  • You know, given what Cryptic apparently thinks of people who try to bring value to the game... I'm done. Deleting my 4 VAs and looking for a game with devs that actually like their playerbase. Hope you guys have a better time of it.
  • Expect Cryptic to value any player contribution whatsoever, like with Foundry missions. CRAZY
  • I HAVE discovered that, unfortunately, deleting your Foundry character doesn't give you a regular character slot. Ah well.
  • As far as 'it harms no one,' it mutates the game economy and warps the intended game design by Cryptic. I mean, what, if you found a command that gave you two billion dilithium, that would be cool?
  • Yeah, I mean, look at Tau Dewa patrols -- warp in, fight a bunch of waves of guys while you and allies fight back, rinse, repeat. A reasonable (non-exploit) grinder is pretty much that, with a few extra rewards (fleet marks rather than daily Romulan marks)
  • Blowing up 161 ships in a single Foundry mission that never shoot back yet drop oodles of loot isn't a problem? Really? Several hundred EC for doing nothing but clearing out my guns and watching a massive chain reaction seems kind of off to me.
  • Took me about 1 month to get ~15 plays of A Cold Heart part 1 and ~10 plays of part 2, 90% of which I had to beg people directly to play. Meh.
  • Yes, this thread has been very enlightening. It's nice to know what the audience at large and Cryptic thinks of troublesome authors.
  • Did you know you can go just BUY sheets of gold stars? You can! And then you can carefully peel off each one and put them wherever you want!
  • Those terms are used in conversations with you often enough for you to identify them as common signs? Huh.
  • Since I'm quitting Foundry and deleting my stuff, for the 10 or so who bothered playing this, the secret was Renj was taking a very long term revenge on T'Pel and Koth, and his goofy behavior is almost entirely a ruse. The third part was going to be an investigation where this slowly became clear, with Koth initially set…
  • You know what? You think we're entitled and the devs/mods think we're 'contributing to the problem'? I'm done with this bs. Don't worry, I won't trouble you with trying to create entertaining content. Cryptic, I'm really sorry some of us were keen on improving your game and helpin make the game a more viable commodity.…
  • I was very surprised when they added tabs for different categories of doffs, and then regrouped things like all ship stuff under 'ship equipment' and then 'ship consoles.' Great UI changes... but they never added a faction filter for faction-specific gear. I suppose part of it is Cryptic's disinterest in KDF.
  • Note that you can sort of bake it into the mission by having something like 'we need 10 communication arrays!' and then you have a map where you have to walk over or assemble communication arrays. It's not actual loot, but you can write the story that way. (As an aside, the idea of taking exploration autogenerated missions…
  • I'll point out that the idea of a tab/categorization is not entirely about grind/story, that's just a motivating and useful permutation. It'd ALSO be nice to have, say, things like 'serious, dialog-heavy, series, holonovel' and so on as tags people can search on. And it should ideally be integrated into the UI -- City of…
  • I can imagine a number of circumstances where I'd want a timid creature space or ground element, like 'blow up the derelict' or whatever. I just don't think it should drop loot. In general, I'd really rather devs adjust rewards than remove what elements we manage to have in the system.
  • Do you honestly suggest that do-nothing loot missions is intended?
  • Maybe they took out the 'ship that does nothing dropping loot' thing?
  • As an aside, I would love a crafting revamp that added a fun minigame option for crafting. No, not the dilithium mining/radiation scanning minigame, those are... dull. I mean something like 'match the symbols on each page to boost progress' or bubble popper or puzzle pirates or something. Something engaging.
  • I think people are deluding themselves with the idea of a Romulan (or Cardassian) faction, and have been grasping at shreds of information to build up the idea. The only thing that's been stated positively is that Romulan ships are unlikely to appear because it would cut into any Romulan species identity, and that Romulans…
  • Uh, Hippiejon, the people suggesting a category/tab/tag for grinders aren't the pro-grinder people, they are the folks who don't want stories hidden below hundreds of grinder missions who seek a cooperative/fruitful change to the system. Adding a filter to the UI is a fairly straight-forward change Cryptic has the tools to…
  • I personally prefer the patrol escort (I have both). It has a lot more survivability -- 4x the crew (which helps all Team abilities), the ensign slot is Engineering (a third tac slot is kind of wasted), more hull. It doesn't LOOK so much more, but I find in STFs my defiant dies a lot when I can't manage aggro (and, of…
  • I'll note that there are some interesting psionic consumables in the Embassy -- ground +threat/-threat, as well as a placate/confuse.
  • Cryptic's involvement ended long before Mission Architect.
  • Good point about the engines. There's really no reason any endgame set wouldn't give good sector speed -- I mean, it's mostly a QOL improvement/reward for being high level, really.
  • You already have a method for reporting hateful, vulgar, and offensive speech -- it's called a GM ticket. Click the ? in the minimap area, Request GM Help, Behavior. You can then put in a summary, the handle of the person being offensive, and a description of what it is. Report Spam is for... reporting spam. The guidelines…
  • It's actually a fairly useful weapon. Not as powerful as some, particularly set stuff, but the chaining exploit is handy, as is the fact it levels with you.
  • I'm not sure how 'being sexist or rude' counts as spamming under the posted guidelines. I mean, it can be really obnoxious and I think people who do it should be ignored, but I don't think 24 hour chat bans make sense.
  • I love the land mine idea. Heh. Hadn't even thought of that. Man. Proton area effect plus placate or confusion or something? Syberghost: Devidians have it coming!
