Dan Stahl got in a lot of trouble for "over communicating" with playerbase. Since he left as Executive Producer they have been much less communicative.
That is literally a quote from your post. I'm not strawmanning anything. I don't know missions will bankrupt this company, and neither does any other player. And I've acknowledge they make content, albeit they have set the bar very low and learned to maximize profit from that content. I've never said they don't make any…
Sometimes what Cryptic chooses to publish baffles me. AOY, for example. They do all this work to make it look so beautiful and all they publish is 6 TOS missions, that you can't go back to again. Also, just when your hitting your stride you are forced to leave and come to the current timeline.
Have you been reading the whole thread? Coldnapalm wrote on page 1 "Umm why do many of us on the board support cryptic against requests that will bankrupt them? Because we like this game and we ain't stupid and we realize they need to make MONEY for us to continue to play this game."
Because a significant part of the forum population here sees gameplay as something they want to "get over with" as fast and easy as possible. They are getting exactly what they want. I really agree with this, but usually in game with a "get it over with" attitude there is a viable endgame or PVP to get too. STO has never…
I think this comment cuts right to the core. Cryptic has gotten really good at what it does, which is knowing what people will pay for. So their new content model has been streamlined for just that, why write quality missions and develop a new arc when they can generate cash with a single FE, a que or two, a rep system and…
Once you have gone through the storyline what is there left to do? You run ques and gain rep XP to fill reputations and buy gear, but once that rep is filled there is no incentive to play that que so it's hard to play those ques. You can play foundry missions which can be fun, but the payoff to playing those isn't great.…
One thing they could do is create a set of missions, and randomly assign those missions once an instance is entered. It would solve the problem of randomly generating missions and spawning. The question is not what they could do, but what they will do. Devs seem to have everyone placated on the notion that they can't…
Thanks. Lets hope one's "wide array of things to do" doesn't include one of the numerous ques that never pop. Also you seem to transform my message into " I don't want to play anything that isn't optimize." That's a vastly different argument than the one I make which is there are unbalance rewards for time spent in game…
The last 4 or 5 post were all excellent points. But let me point out, this game is not totally F2P, there are people who still sub or are lifers. And development has to occur on some level. I'm an older player ( 50) I've played tons of games going back to Star Fleet Command and Asheron's Call. Due to work schedules I…
I progress my 16 characters just fine without ever playing those "narrow 3 queues". I play what I want when I want. Your narrow view is not the "only" or "best" way to play and never will be. You claim to have been around since launch but I jave not seen you mention once the entire year we went without new content of any…
[/quote] What the "reward" is depends on the player, it often is not loot or XP. In many games it's a new cosmetic item, or a new attack or spell that looks cool even if it isn't really more powerful. In many games it's seeing the story unfold. In Elder Scrolls games it's often seeing new scenery or discovering some…
Do you realize that time+ risk/ reward ratio is a game design standard? One that Al Rivera and other devs have spoken about at length. To hold player interest a reward has to be commensurate with the time and risk it takes to obtain it. I have long played the Foundry and am a foundry reviewer, it's not the ideal long term…
There are "some" foundry missions that are as good or better, and the trickle of dil for playing them is hardly an ample reward. But it's hit and miss and the tools are limited. There are missions I run a lot, "A Step Between Star", "Sunrise", "Temporal Front" because the rewards from those missions are usable loot I can…
appreciate that baddmoon. it was about a week ago. As to being a business, I get it. but lets be real. I just leveled an alt. the moment I hit 60, I loaded and dry docked every ship I own to create an admiralty fleet and then set missions and logged. most of the que content centers on two or three ques that sustain a…
Great a tanking/ healing spec that will further make Engineers irrelevant and drop them farther behind the other two class in terms of effectiveness in the current meta. Engineers continually get the short stick in this game.
One can argue Star Trek has always looked back. TOS Episodes are told from the past tense of Kirk's log. That's why he seems almost omnipotent in his blog entries.
I agree. We have all these systems and no reason to go to them. I really wish STO would just focus on content for awhile. It seems like they are always fixing systems or bugs. Other games deliver tons of content. On that note I feel the game could benefit from rare, worthwhile drops, elite gear. All the gear worth using is…
Please show me one That is not a Romulan. As I've said I can break the 20k mark but at that point I'm using 2xfaw, apb, and double DEM and not really able to heal myself or others much at all. I think there ultimate issue of this thread is two differing interpretations of success. Can you play PVE and succeed fairly well…
You do know with 3 Damage control Engineers and a Warp Core Engineer maybe toss in a plasmonic leech most classes can keep their power to full.. most the time?
There are a few flaws to your response. In team pve content if the other 4 are high DPS specs then there is no need to tank. In PVP yes Engineers can do pressure damage. But their primary role is healing. A sci could do that just as easy in the same ship and provide debuffs that the Engineer can't. Yawn.... I could not…
My main is an Engineer, i love him but your wrong on all accounts 1. Sub par DPS that will lag way behind Sci's and Tac's 2. Power Creep makes tanking useless in this game. a Tacs doing 60k doesn't need a tank, cause everything is dead in 2 seconds. 3. Yes on ground we are awesome. In space we have no direct debuff…
