No, not as far as I know - there is only one ToD mission available at the time and the next one comes only after you complete the previous one. At least, in my experience - but I havent burnt more than 32 skip tokens to test, so maybe if the number is larger then you could try. I think if you fail it, you still progress to…
I looked at the approximate value in Zen of the LTS about halfway through this thread. However, the key thing is that the game is now 11 years old and you really only get value from the LTS by playing this game a lot. Also, make sure to wait for the LTS to go on special for USD199 instead of the standard USD299 (this…
Hi, welcome back! I too have recently returned. In addition to the guidance provided by others, you might be interested to read my New Player Guide - although its old (and the forums wont let me edit it), it is still more-or-less up to date so feel free to take advantage of it:…
Tab works. Or furious double-clicking on it works too. Alternatively, you can also use Beam: Fire At Will that will randomly target many targets around you - including the targetable torpedoes.
The Finnish Navy doesnt have carriers because of their very high cost and because of their very high crewing requirements, plus the requirement for a large escort of destroyers, submarines etc that make it prohibitive to contemplate. Not having a strategic need for it also helps - but even if they did have such a need,…
Because Honour demands it!!! And because we all know that the Romulans have no honour... which is why they can more effectively use their cloaking devices at a strategic and tactical level (in all the face-offs against the Federation, there is always strategic doubt as to whether there are 2 or 3 more warbirds lurking…
I dunno, I dont mind it - particularly if it was a bit more like a reverse-takeover. I think the Federation allows the Klingons enough space to maintain their culture in all the key ways:* Although slavery, serfdom and castes would be abolished, the Federation permits Andorians to engage in blood fueds in particular places…
I have recently returned from a five-year break in playing STO. My initial reactions of the three new Klingon missions is that I was underwhelmed, confused and I found them incredulous. I would like to add my voice to the many others who have pointed out major, major flaws in the design of the story of these episodes,…
Yes, like others I found you needed to rely on engineering boffs to build some strong points and try and encourage the enemy groups (one at a time) to run the gauntlet. Once I did that, I started dying a lot less.
I agree with what you've said - and in particular the section above - but I still think its helpful to go through the OP's questions in a bit of detail. Explaining why things are done - even if they arent essential at low tiers - is still helpful so the player can build towards that outcome as they progress up the chain.
No worries, welcome to STO :) I'll have a go at answering some of your specific questions below - though I broadly agree with others who have already done so in this thread. Still, you may be interested in my New Player Guides linked here. There are two elements to your issue - what your build is and how you are using it.…
There was meant to be some intrigue in the dialogue, but when the mission arc was revamped that was mostly lost - it seems that many players just kept hitting F until the dialogue was done and they could move on to killing the next group of enemies faster. But yes - you are right - it would have been much better if there…
I would suggest just continuing through the main storyline - hitting the button up near the minimap - and progress through that for content and to help you level up your character. Late-game min/maxing can wait until after you've had some fun with the game :)
This isnt like Diablo where you lose all your stuff if you die. As far as I can tell, you dont lose anything in particular from dying (other than some embarassment - or at higher difficulty settings, you may receive injuries/ship damage that will need to be healed/repaired).
Hi, welcome back. In addition to the good advice from @gavinruneblade , I strongly recommend that you click on your personal skills page when you log back in. All of your skills (eg, Attack Pattern Expertise, Combat performance etc) have been reset because there was a revamp about 6 months ago. Without them slotted, you…
@mackermomo welcome back to STO :). As @chitowngrizz420 has outlined above, there is a way to go from Dilithium to EC - use Dilithium to purchase Zen, Zen to purchase Master Keys (or other things, like Fleet Modules), then sell those items on the Exchange for EC (note - console players only have a thin market so they may…
Ah, OK. I've found that sometimes the KDF ships are too close to the device so that the splash damage from your Hargh'peng torpedoes hits them, so they start firing on you. Sometimes you just have to take the bad with the worse :p. Yeah, if you're a Commander level and have a lot of Mk 2-3 level gear equipped, your enemies…
About half way down this linked thread I looked at the value of a Lifetime Subscription. Note that this is the PC version of it; I am not familiar with the console version to determine whether there are differences. If you are buying it just for the 500 Zen per month stipend, then - as @davefenestrator has said - you're…
Hi! Welcome to STO. I suspect you've been reading my guide, in which case thanks!! :) Grateful to receive any feedback you have on it. So, this is - I think - where you're doing it wrong. If memory serves, the KDF and Starfleet ships should be engaging each other. Your job is to throw Hargh'peng torpedoes down the Doomsday…
That's only true because of the massively high base damage that they can put out - for us mere mortals, using the right (energy type, not weapon time) tactical console is significantly more useful.
Ah, whilst engagements with these groups may have occured earlier in the 2360's to 2380's, I think you'll find by reading the STO Lore that the game started in 2409 and we're now up to 2410 in-game time. And yes, we've engaged all of those enemies in battle during those two brief years.
Well, @mustrumridcully0 I think it would be difficult to argue against the facts. Since 2409, the Federation has indeed been in conflict with a range of civilisations, including the following groups:* Klingon Empire * Gorn Hegemony * True Way Cardassians * Mirror Terran Empire * Tholians * Romulan Star Empire * Tal Shiar *…
@mustrumridcully0 I suppose that's where the 'Tactical' and 'Recon' parts of its name come in... Tbh a little sad that tacs get two mentions, science one - but no love for the engineers!! They built this Federation! *shakes fist* More seriously, wishing you and your fleet all the best :)
I'm not sure that the Lifetime Subscription can be bought from the C-Store for in-game ground Zen. At least, it cant be for PC users. Just check that you can before you grind pointlessly!
