  • But of course, the Feddies have ZERO problem with getting all the cool stuff, including stealing it from other factions. Nope, no problem with that whatsoever.
  • My problem is that it's another blatant spit in the face of the KDF. Yeah, give us what we've been due for 3 friggin years, and then steal one of our best remaining exclusive consoles. I don't give a damn if 'we knew it was coming'. I don't agree with it, and I'm friggin pissed off about it.
  • Shut up, you blind petaQ. You and the rest of the Federation sycophants obviously can't tell the difference between 'whining' (which is what the Federation swine do) and legit complaints (which is what the KDF tend to do, with some exceptions). Cryptic is apparently completely ignorant as to the concept of a 'fair trade'.…
  • Thank you so much, Cryptic, for ****ting on the KDF again. And here I was thinking you were gonna start treating us equally, what with the addition of new content and whatnot. Give one of our best remaining exclusive consoles to the Feds and offer us some nearly useless cloak-bypassing console? Your idea of a 'fair…
  • And really, that's how BoPs often have to operate. The low hull really messes with us, though the fleet versions have shielding mostly equal to escorts/raptors. In general, though, BoPs are just fragile. You can tank in 'em, but you'd have to give up a decent bit of firepower to do so. Unless the BoP is an offensive-sci…
  • I'll certainly try to login a few times, but I'm not expecting to get in. . .and if I do, game performance will be way out of whack. It'd be interesting to be there when new players start KDF at lvl 1, so I could answer questions like a wise old Dahar master or something.
  • The thing is, it is possible to repel this attack. Pre-buffing is one, along with ensuring that there are as few gaps as possible in your defenses. I use the similar tactics as Thissler, using a combination of TB2 along with the BO2 and HY3 quantums. I don't deviate it from it much, because that's how I've specc'd my…
  • Hahaha, the Federation is full of hypocrisy and self-interest. . .especially in STO. They spread throughout space like an insidious, passive-aggressive parasite. They become 'friends' with you, sap you of your strength and independence, and then absorb you. Just look at the Cardassians. Look at the Romulan petaQ'pu who…
  • I don't think anyone on the KDF side (other than the crass, uncouth trolls) would say we have 'no content, no ship choices, and no redeemable qualities'. It's more like 'less content than the Feds, less ship choices than the Feds, and maybe less 'positive' qualities than the Feds'. All of which are legit points. Your…
  • Yes, even KDF players will have to adopt anti-cloak tactics with the advent of Romulans in PvP. If anything, I think having Romulans in the mix will liven things up a tad. Just as long as we don't get matches with both sides staying in cloak waiting for the other to blink, I think we'll be fine. Even with the possible…
  • Agreed, it would be nice to have themes like that in-game, especially the 'battle song' in the last two. That's pretty much the go-to victory or priming-for-battle chant for Klingon enthusiasts who can speak Klingon. Listening to that while getting into a scrap in PvP would probably always get my adrenaline up. The lyrics…
  • Yeah, Ker'rat has hardly changed since it was first implemented. KDF is normally outnumbered or evenly-matched (though there are glorious moments where we dominate a zone), everyone restart-spawns on the friggin KDF spawnpoint (often leading to Federation spawncamping), the Borg are still glitchy along with the map, etc.…
  • I like flying KDF BoPs, Raptors, and Destroyers. The only Federation ship I truly enjoyed flying was the Defiant. KDF is where I belong. It's what I identify with. As for the pickings in Ker'rat, it varies. Sometimes competent players roll through and we can have a glorious battle out of it, battle that's better than the…
  • Well, that's why most Starfleet ships outside of the escorts aren't really supposed to have cannons. It never really fits into the ship design. It's why KDF battlecruisers come with the cannons built-in, along with most of their other ships.
  • I'll echo the opinion that we really don't need more battlecruisers at this time. We have 8-9 battlecruiser models (some with several variants) to pick from in Tier 5, but only 4 raptors (again, some with variants) and three destroyers. We could use 3-4 more destroyers/raptors, and some viable science ships.
  • Pretty much this. I do hope more players come to the KDF after the LoR release. One of the big problem areas was the grating red UI that KDF players have to use, and now there will be options to pick from. That, combined with the starting from level 1 thing, will probably boost KDF numbers at least a little bit.
  • This. And in addition: This is Star Trek. The shows, in my opinion, have always been too human-centric in terms of the ideals, the species portrayed (everyone bipedal, looking and acting like humans), and the cuisine. I like having a wide variety of 'alien' foods to pick from.
  • I find the placate to be more of annoyance than a true game-changer. When an escort placates. . .yeah, that can be dangerous, at least to me. But that's because I'm running an attack-oriented Hegh'ta that relies on being able to hit hard, fast, and get out of dodge when things turn sour. It can't take a lot of punishment,…
  • If we're getting a trait respec token, that's good. Given the extensive changes they're making, it'd be downright criminal to not do that. We don't really need a skill respec, as they're not making any extensive, unusual changes to the skilltree.
  • Ah, misunderstood the context. Sorry for the confusion.
  • Or, you know, you carry 1-2 of the dozen or so abilities/consoles that can be used to keep someone from re-cloaking, or from escaping to re-cloak safely.
  • Player-controlled cloaked vessels do not regenerate shields under cloak. The shield power subsystem is disabled while cloak is active. In fact, it takes about 1 second for the shields to actually activate when decloaking. It's also not that hard to stop people from recloaking, skilled players (especially in science ships)…
  • Yeah, some of our content has pretty wonky autonav pathing.
  • In all honesty, you don't even need the majority of that rep stuff for PvE. It only really factors in for PvP, because you need every edge you can get sometimes. I could PvE with cheaply-obtained blue items and the right BOFF setup and still do well and pull my weight.
  • That might be the adrenaline making time seem to pass slower, because the Red Alert status is supposed to go away after 10 seconds. However, if you get shot at in any way or are too close to an explosion, or use an ability. . .that will reset the timer and add another 10 seconds of waiting.
  • You touch on a good point. Most BoPs built for alpha-strike ambushes are not built for prolonged dogfighting. Most of them, like me, run relatively light on heals (I only carry one EPtS, two Tactical Teams, an RSP, and a HE). If they're running two Tactical Teams, it's likely they won't have Engineering Team or Science…
  • I do PvP because it's more interesting than the PvE content provided. NPCs are slow, mostly predictable, and just not that much of a challenge. The way the game makes them 'challenging' is to tack more hullpoints, shieldpoints, or firepower on them. They don't carry many abilities, and they don't always use these abilities…
  • Yeah, convenient how they 'fix' this right when the accursed Romulans are being released. Oh well, at least it's getting done.
  • Regarding the BoPs: Tractor Beams. Unless the BoP is using a torpedo loadout and sniping from 8-10km away, they're gonna get close enough to hit 'em with Tractor Beam. That will, at the very least, delay their re-cloak (or in the case of the B'rel, drag them out of cloak if you hit them quickly enough). Target their…
  • I might do Tholian rep if they give us decent options for earning the marks in space (like they do with the Omega rep). If they force players to engage in ground content to earn space gear, then it's no go. I dislike the ground combat in the game (primarily because I can never get it to render smoothly), and have no…
