What you're calling a "mad gamble" ... can also be practized & requires skill to do so ... i.E. jump from your board at the right time ... it's not like the ancient greeks invented something called "relay race" ... not sure why "the first one crossing the line", is supposed be to the only "right way" to do a race ...

Yeah if you continued to play / test with your current TOS-Toon ... purchasing ships at Lvl 20-30-40 etc ... you're basically ***** if they miraculously "revamp" the entire "leveling-experience" ... not that it would matter on Tribble, it just seems "beyond reasonable" & "highly unlikely" ...
