I'd really like to be able to go to the Captains Table space station but I'm not going to pay $240 to go there. That would just be crazy. I'd also like to be able to go to the mars station they had for the federation anniversary missions. Just like having the open option to go anywhere I want in the game. Also the shuttle bay in ESD restricted access? I'm fleet admiral and I have restricted access to the shuttle bay?

AFAIK the shuttle bay in ESD is not able to be entered by anyone.

If you have a Temporal ship, then it is possible to access the shuttle bay when the new ESD was on Tribble. The official purpose of the shuttle bay is to give background to the ESD so it gives the illusion of looking bigger than it really is. Here is a tour of the shuttle bay when it was available for access.

Original Series Era Starfleet simply never should have been described as a separate faction, IMO. These characters are Starfleet. They use Starfleet ships. They just have a fancier version of the Delta Recruit system, complete with a separate tutorial.

And that's fine. That's not nothing. What these characters are doesn't take anything away from anybody, and I vastly prefer that the majority of the expansion's content be at endgame, where the characters that I already have can pick up the story where the last Featured Episode leaves off. I think commenters are just getting wrapped up around the axle because a word like "faction" carries so much baggage with it.

i agree, if cryptic did not consider this themselves as being a new faction or refer to this to players as it being a new faction and only offered the chance to create ToS characters for the duration of the recruit event it would have been excepted much more readily by players as simply that a new recruit event for players to enjoy while it lasted.
players have been hoping for a new faction for a long time and as it stands most don't consider this to represent a new faction in any way shape or form and this is where the bulk of the irritation with all of this stems from with most players.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

The thing is, the game is free to play. Twenty bucks for even half an expansion is far better than the 60+ dollars that most other games make you pay for their expansions. So I would say you're getting a decent value there.

6 specific episodes are indeed too few for this new faction. I was excited at first now I’m concerned if the new contend justifies it for me to do yet another toon. They will issue in a recruitment event on top of that to give an additional incentive. Still I don’t know…

Ironically didn't one of the Devs note that marketing was specifically against them using the term 'faction' to describe it for exactly this reason, but they went ahead anyway because...well, they wouldn't the Devs if they weren't overhyping and setting us up for disappointment.

doesn't matter if they openly call it a faction or not but the fact is this appears to be how they are treating it from what I can see.
the question is will this be the last ever faction we get, I tend to have the feeling it will be and I think most players were hoping for a new faction to be something that is a lot more unique and substantial then the so called ToS "faction" that we have been lumbered with.
the way i see it if it was not released as a faction the ability to create a ToS character would be a short term affair just as it was with the delta recruits but it seems this is not the case.

one thing is for sure, they can see the fires from the ISS :P So the devs are aware of the response to their new "faction" how they use this as an excuse to not add new things later remains to be seen.

Didn't CBS say no to new factions? Or was it just the Borg and Cardassians they said no to?

It has already been stated multiple times that there will be more than 6 episodes, just because they aren't in the mission log on tribble yet is meaningless.

But the confusion comes from is there only 6 TOS missions and the rest are Cross-faction missions? Since the expansion is called Agents of Yesterday, then the other TOS missions could be Cross-faction missions. IMO, it would have been better to have 6 TOS Starfleet missions, 6 TOS Klingon missions, and 6 TOS Romulan missions. Seeing how TOS Klingons are usually cast as the villains and TOS Romulans are rarely seen.

They actually wanted the romulans to be more often featured back in TOS, but klingons were cheaper due to the more extensive make-up on romulans back then. So the klingons ended up being a "regular villain". It was a 100% budget-related limit.

No surprise there. A lot of TOS decisions are based on budgetary concerns. The most famous example being creating a transporter so they don't have to build a Shuttle set.

Yup... thankfully, limitations usually increase the overall creativity and originality (like Minecraft or Firefly for example).

We've got a bit over a month before this is released...give it time, and all will be revealed. They've probably got another 10 to 15 blog posts that are going to come out about this between now and release. How about we have a bit of patience?

The fact that TOS Klingons are usually cast as the villains and TOS Romulans are rarely seen is probably why we don't have any missions where you can play as them in this expansion.

But if the go to the 23rd Century and come back to the 25th Century missions are Cross-faction, then they are not TOS faction missions. The Romulan Republic has about 30 unique missions while the TOS faction is likely limited to less than half. Also, we already knew that there would be some cross-faction mission arc involving time travel due to the name of the expansion, the new reputation, and new specialization. So it is not a matter of 6 to 10 missions, but 6 to 10 TOS faction missions.

I wonder, how many times by how many different Devs do you need to be told you are wrong before you get it?

How is it wrong? The devs have been adamant about there being more than 6 missions in AoY not how many TOS faction missions there are. We know that there is currently 6 TOS faction missions on Tribble and we know that there will be a Cross-faction mission arc. What we don't know is when the TOS faction missions for this adventure turn into the Cross-faction missions.

The AoY mission setup seems to be:

    1. Do some missions in 2270 as a 23rd Century Starfleet Officer.
    2. Head to 2410 and do some missions.
    3. Head to the 23rd Century and do some missions.
    4. Head back to 2410 and do some missions.

Our current characters are the main Temporal expert of the Alliance. After all, they got invited to witness the signing of the Temporal Accords. So having them do part of 2 and 3 and 4 is just as likely as having the TOS Captain do 2, 3, and 4. So it is possible that the only TOS faction missions are when they are originally in the 23rd Century and when they integrate themselves with 25th Century Starfleet.

It's kinda pointless to argue now... We'll see it when AOY is released anyway, and people can still make up their mind about buying the pack, making a character, hating the game or loving it, by then.

Source (& by whom) ? Because this just wouldn't make any sense whatsoever after "Battle of Caleb IV" (some people commenting should really play this mission on Tribble, first) ... more Time-Travel-Stuff, maybe ... going back where you "came from" = nonsense ...

PS : Are you refering to that one blogger ... speculating about his own make-belief & calling it "a reliable source", without even bothering with "Tribble" ... ?
