I'm going to be honest here. If reading Harry Potter will make your children more like the titular hero, then it should be banned. Not because it will make your child a sorcerer, but it because it might make your child an orphan.
True, but they can also project force fields. I ain't saying that stuff like that ain't neat or useful, but the context of Star Trek makes it much less game-changing for everyone else.
Transporters use the laws of physics to make a thing be somewhere else, in sub-atomic bits of necessary. This automatically trumps 99% of all super-powers.
The impact of super-heroes and super-villains is somewhat reduced by the kinds of technology you have, even in the TOS era. Superman? The further away he is from the sun, the less super he becomes. Weak against transporters. Lex Luthor? A power-hungry genius would probably have better things to do than run a business…
This is good work! My only issue is that it currently doesn't include the counter-command set. Or, maybe it does and I am a product of profound stupidity.
I get why it takes so much dilithium to do anything interesting. There needs to be a way to funnel it out of the economy without it affecting real-money income. But, man, I ain't got the time for multi-stage crafting processes that takes SEVERAL DAYS WORTH OF WORK to do once. And then it might fail. I ain't a whale and I…
Ah, that's the one. So, Pros: By drawing from engines, they don't reduce weapon power levels when fired. The benefit to that is that it keeps weapon power levels a bit higher, which in turn, further increases DPS. Cons: By drawing from engines, they slow down your ship and reduce the defense you somewhat. By level 50 this…
For me, novelty is the key. I don't have a lot of regularly-scheduled play time, so I want the time that I do spend to be interesting and engaging. MMOs are better suited to this tendency than almost any other type of game out there, but most don't take advantage of it. Unfortunately, the design of most MMOs pretty much…
Last I checked, its DPS is driven by the weapon power level. However, it also reduced engine power levels by, 10 I think, when equipped Or maybe when it was fired. I don't recall exactly. Kind of a big deal. I'm not sure if that's current, though.
I think a trinity is perhaps the wrong way of going about it. It's not about limiting players to specific classes. It should be more about introducing STFs, encounters, and PvE content with challenges who's optimal solutions aren't simply MOAR DPS. There are plenty of ways of handling it without having to change any core…
I'm far from an expert, but I can see a few problems with this build. It's not bad, but it could probably benefit from a few tweaks. Boff Skills: It's a matter of personal taste, of course, but I'd probably swap out one of the engineering team 1's for an emergency power to weapons 1. The cycle time when running two means…
Might be frustrated by the Undine super-beam and yellow blobs, or maybe by the Voth invinci-shield, or Tholian web. But since we can get these things (or most of 'em at least), I'm not sure what the problem is.
You can also grind the hourly rep mission. The goodie-box you get has a small chance to grant you a voth cybernetic implant. Also, when you reach tier 5 and do the end mission, you'll get all the unrefined dilithium, marks, and implants you'll need to build one of space set pieces as well as a Voth BOff.
I like the cut of your thinking-jib, sir. The quite like idea of modifying torps to do interesting things when HY or TS is used, as it makes torpedoes and mines more interesting weapon choices. Unfortunately, TS doesn't get the love it should.
I don't care about them. I don't care about anything anymore. My life has reached its apex ever since I learned that I can make my D'Deridex do a barrel roll.
There isn't really much need for a new, non-intel escort on the Fed side. It's probably for the best to let them take some time to see how the new queues, content, and game balance works out before introducing a new DPS monster.
I think that some of the newer content shows some intelligent ideas on how to try and make the current encounter system more interesting and varied, so it's not like they aren't trying. Take the Voth, for instance. Their ability to bring up an invinci-shield means that they'll get a few second's worth of dealing damage…
Using my powers of INCREDIBLE DEDUCTION I make the following predictions about what "Intelligence Officers" do and what they are. 1) All intelligence officers will be guys in hooded cloaks and voiced by Steve Blum 2) An intelligence Officer is a bit like a waiter at a fine restaurant in that he brings a lot of cheese to…
Right. So. Flagship can mean "Ship the admiral of a taskforce is currently on". He's the flag officer, this is his ship. It is not necessarily the most powerful ship in the task force (though it often is), but rather the one the admiral feels is best suited to coordinating and commanding his group of ships. He may not even…
The Fleet Recon Science Ship U.S.S Shimmering, resplendent in her scintillating Reman paint job, of course. She turns on a dime, spews never-ending strings of heavy plasma torpedoes, and has bridge officers from five major galactic powers. She should do just fine.
My perfect and unassailable vision of a better Trek: Ship: SS Botany Bay Crew: A bunch of ice-cubes with a meaty human center Era: Pre-TOS Uniforms: Varies Captain: The Auto-Pilot This series would follow the week to week exploits of a bunch of superhumans that spend the entirety of each episode in cryostasis.
Current T5 ships won't be rendered obsolete in any meaningful sense by adding T6 ships to the game. Why? Because the game's current content isn't being rebalanced in such a way as to necessitate it. A T5 ship with current high-end gear will still breeze through just about everything as easily as they did before. STFs still…
1) Fix the Galaxy-R by boosting the effectiveness of its cruiser command clickies and upping their range considerably. 2) Fix the exploration system by increasing the types of missions one can undertake, adding some more involved scripted missions into the pool, and making it the only way to obtain certain rare, but…
