Why no Fed Tier 6 Escort ship?

'm really excited by the Delta Rising expansion pack and am really pleased that there are a variety of tier 6 ships coming out, some new design concepts and materials and others more traditional.

However, I'm slightly disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a Tier 6 Escort. Yes there are the Intel ships, but there is also the Dauntless* which is a Science Vessel and the Guardian Cruiser but no Federation Escort for Delta Rising. How come and will there be?

*Yes, it makes sense that the Dauntless is a Science Vessel, but it is literally my favorite ship along with the Prometheus and I had hoped to fly it with my Tactical toon. I may have to roll a Science toon because I'd happily spend £30-£40 to purchase that ship....

    One of the 3 fed intel ships is an escort.

    The Phantom is a T6 Escort.

    I am certain there will be other T6 Escorts released over time. Between the C-Store, Lockboxes, and Lobi Store - I am certain Escorts will not be forgotten. :)
    STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

    You don't have to slot intel powers on the Phantom. You can run it as just a regular escort if you want.

    You can fly the Dauntless on your tac. You don't need to match ship types with captain types.

    Near the bottom of the front page on GNN.

    The Phantom is what you're looking for.

    There isn't really much need for a new, non-intel escort on the Fed side. It's probably for the best to let them take some time to see how the new queues, content, and game balance works out before introducing a new DPS monster.

    Well first, you don't have to roll a science captain to fly a science ship. It makes certain things slightly easier (namely BOff training), but it's not by any means necessary. I've been running a tac/sci since launch and never had any problems or regrets. You want to run your tactical captain in a Dauntless? Just go for it, man.

    And second, why no T6 Fed escort to go with the Dauntless and Guardian? I dunno. Why no T6 KDF battle cruiser or science ship to go with the Mat'ha? Why no T6 Romulan escort or science ship to go with the Aelahl? Either something is coming later on, or the devs thought it wasn't necessary or someone decided it wasn't worth the resources it would take to develop one.

    Yeah, I'm aware of that. And I'm sure that the OP is aware of that. It seems to me like the OP is wondering why the devs didn't add a non-intel focused escort, like the Guardian is a non-intel focused cruiser counterpart to the Eclipse and the Dauntless is a non-intel focused science counterpart of the Scryer. That's why I mentioned the Guardian, Dauntless, Mat'ha, and Aelahl. They're all the non-intel T6 ships.

    I assume they're making a "normal" non-Intel Fed escort and it just didn't get done in time for the launch. Remember, Geko said there would be 7-10 player ships, depending on what got finished in time. So there's one that just didn't made the October 14th cut. And that's probably a normal escort. I'd expect to see it within a month or two.

    It could simply not be ready yet. They didn't want to put in the Operation Packs. They wait to put in on putting in he Operation Pack based on early sales. They deemed that the Tier 5 Upgrade Escorts will fit the bill nicely, and if you absolutely totally need a Tier 6 Escort but hate Intelligence BOFF abilities, the Phantom will still work just fine.

    I can't see their plan being a 6/2/2 balance between factions. Even after watching what's made it to the C-store over the past two years any more FED ships in the first spurt of T6 are just going to be competing with one another for attention/space (whereas anything added now to the ROM and KDF could actually generate some interest).

    T6 Neg'Var refit seems a hell of a lot more likely (considering that's been on the Future Content slab for some time, like the Dauntless) than a "normal" FED T6 escort (which is still going to have a small focus on intel, thus raising the question why the hell bother when a "normal" T6 escort under the next specialist boff type is going to be much more appealing simply for not being a watered down Phantom.)

    I am SO hopeing they realize that this is a perfect time to introduce the New Orleans class as a Tier 6 escort. A pipe dream to be sure, but a good one.
