The number one reason you cant make a minelayer build in this game is because all mines have a 12 second shared cooldown. Drop some, 12 seconds later you can drop some more. That sound like good potential dps to ANYONE?
I liked the way they subtly made the new carrier out to be much better than it really is, by giving it a bunch of overpowered abilities just for the mission, just to bait people into spending way too much money on the lobi version. We see what you did there. Though thanks for proving creating new powers and abilities on…
In response to the statement that the entire game is too focused on dps and escorts are king he says: "My take as Lead Designer is that the problem is not significant" So glad I've stopped playing already. When the lead designer doesn't feel that 2/3 of classes in the game are pointless it is past time to find a new game.…
Bit of a contradiction there as PvE and PvP are the only 2 aspects of this game. I always expect posts from pvpers to come down to "I'm better than you because I pvp" and i'm never disappointed. Could you tell me exactly how pve is different from most pvp? Sure pvp has more abilities but tends to use them back to back the…
Key problem with the game is that every time they decide something is too powerful, instead of balancing it, they just break it. Tricobalt mines too good? Nerfed to uselessness. Mine spam rampant? 12 second shared cooldown = nerfed to uselessness. Double stacking BO too good? Made impossible. Every time they stop something…
More pvper supremacist rhetoric. There are some elite pve-ers who test things as extensive as the best pvp-ers but they do it in the dominant environment of the game. Just because we don't pvp doesn't mean we aren't as obsessed about every little bit of performance we can get out of our ships. Though I agree the…
Forget everything you think you know. Antiprotons come with an added 20 crit severity, not chance. Disruptors have a chance to decrease damage resistance. Plasmonic leech doesn't effect plasma procs. Tetryons may look good but nothing that only procs 2.5% of the time can be considered "big". Beam target shields is not…
Not bad considering the rubbish damage of the plasma dot (even with plasma consoles) and the rampant use of Hazard emitters. 3x doff works out at about 45% chance of a proc. 3 torp launchers means an 83% chance for at least 1 proc over the whole firing cycle (3 quantums), which is all you need to be firing at global. Yeah,…
I wanted to run mines the same way you can run torps. With no shared cooldown. I tried with 3 torps and 3 projectile doffs. Yes, with that I expected to fire them at global.
Thanks for the responses guys. Yet another build idea ruined by stupid limitations. Like my mine layer build ruined by a 12 second shared cooldown on all mine weapons. WHY??? Or projectile doffs not proccing often enough for a 2xDHC 3xTorp build. Or pretty much any science based build at the moment. Really is a case of…
The funny thing is if Cryptic continue to allow the rampant favoritism of tactical captains and escorts while completely ignoring the increasing number of bugs in the game but still plan on milking the player base for every $ they have the game actually IS doomed. :( Even an IP like star trek wont hold up to that level of…
Except that you are fundamentally wrong about how hit / miss works in this game. Accuracy minus defence equals chance to be hit. 100% Acc - 100% defence = 0 hits. (100% Acc + 50% bonus Acc) - (100% defence + 50% bonus defence) = 0 hits. (100% Acc + 20% bonus Acc) - (100% defence + 50% bonus defence) = 0 hits. The minimum…
The abundance of sources of Acc and Def are not the real problem, just that it stacks in a stupid way. The vast majoirty of people's total bonus accuracy comes from 9 points in the relevent skill, the Accurate trait and any weapon ACC mods. For a total bonus of between 25% and 55%. Almost everyone specs into the skill for…
Anyone who doesn't understand how stupid it is to have every ship in the game flying around with between 50% and 75% avoidance isn't worth the time it would take to explain the reasons to them. Acc / Def is a lazy TRIBBLE mechanic that was tolerable until LoR as long as you stayed out of pvp. Now it is even more stupid.
If you actually sit down and work out how many modifiers each piece of gear has over their base mk xii versions (cap, reg, spd, pla, etc.) you would see that nothing comes close to the MACO / Adapted MACO gear. Omega isnt too far behind, everything else is just trash by comparison. Especially the Romulan/Reman sets that…
Holy necro-cow! Posting in a 3 year old thread ftw. ===post above is by poeddude=== EDIT: Closed for necroing an old thread. Remember, if a thread has been inactive for 30 days, you should not post to it. Feel free to create a new thread on the subject if you would like to discuss further :) ~BranFlakes
This is the single most overdue thing in this game. The lack of a 360 degree beam turret was stupid on day one and its stupid now 3 and a half years later.
Your idea is not new. However the Devs rarely take notice of player suggestions and never give them the consideration they deserve. Best you can hope for round here is a dev might ask for an opinion on something he is already working on. They never take suggestions for work.
I made all the same suggestions as the OP months ago. Just got ignored. Players don't care about the state of the game and Devs arn't willing to put in the time and effort to make these changes.
You know what else is scheduled to occur before the end of the year? Christmas. And Thanksgiving. And Halloween. And 4 whole months. There should be a damn site more than just Season 8 between now and the end of the year. Less BS answers please. I'm still hopeful they will take another shot at fixing Science before the end…
Fools should have just made the target immune to damage for the duration of the disable if the intent was to only temporarily take someone out of the fight.
I don't understand cryptics backwards way of doing things. If the idea was to take someone out of the fight for a while why not leave it as a disable, have it do damage at the end, but make them immune to damage for the duration? Surely that would have been a simpler fix?
Then, oh I don't know, try reading them? I assume everyone who plays the game can read. If not there is really nothing anyone can do to help. Right clicking brings up a pretty helpful description for most things.
He forgot to mention that you basically HAVE to be a tactical captain. No place for engineers or science in a winning team. Just like there is no place for cruisers or science ships. No win scenario highlights the key problem there is in this game. Damage > everything.
This game can't be difficult due to the way they have designed it. We have tiny health pools, massive damage and long cooldowns on every heal skill but usable by every ship. Those 3 things go against the trinity you find in most MMOs and as STO has tried to copy it to some extent, it fails miserably. Mainly because of the…
If you want to roll a Romulan, make it a Tactical captain. Everything about the faction screams Tac captain. Take their crappy power levels for example. Hurts engineers, cripples science and has next to no effect on tacs. This game is all about dps. Romulans are even more dps orientated than the other 2 factions. If you…
