Are they worth it? I have the MACO Mk12 set already. Should I invest in one of these?

I'm running the reman rep gear and so far it's been good to me. I have my fleet defiant set to do plasma burn, so having the romulan torp charged by the set does a nice little extra during combat.

They are on par with with other rep sets and a solid choice if you're looking to run plasma weapons.

You're not going to see a huge difference if you've already got MACO. The rom/reman sets favor certain ships, setups and playstyles just like MACO, Assimilated, KHG, etc. does.

The romulan sets are best suited to science vessels really. The deflector is garbage if you don't use viral matrix and cloak/mask energy signature. Science ships benefit more from the huge shield capacity then any other ship would thanks to their high shield modifiers and the two set bonus gives a + to science damage abilities along with the enhanced high yield torps.

The only part of the set which is at all confusing is the engine. A bonus to attack patterns does not match so well to science ships as they so rarely have a spare ability slot to use on one.

Certainly plasma weaponry is most useful on science ships as the hyper plasma torpedo spam option makes running with no weapons power viable, the experimental beam array is as good a weapon to use for sub system targeting as any, and the embassy science consoles, which are the best for enhancing science skills, also enhance a plasma load out.

If your not flying a science ship with plasma weapons though, the maco omega and honor guard sets all boast advantages that are probably more usfull to you.

If you actually sit down and work out how many modifiers each piece of gear has over their base mk xii versions (cap, reg, spd, pla, etc.) you would see that nothing comes close to the MACO / Adapted MACO gear. Omega isnt too far behind, everything else is just trash by comparison.

Especially the Romulan/Reman sets that have really bad itemisation.
