Hello all, I'm a few days away from buying a set of fleet beams for my first attempt at a tanky beam boat. I mostly use it in ESTF's for now. But I know that I can use just about any top tier weapons in the ESTF's and get to the end.
It would be nice if it could hold it's own in a PVP. I would normally go for [dmg]x3 plus a crit proc in ESTF's. But several people recommended accuracy as a primary factor in PVP. Which is why I'm looking at the fleet beams - [dmg]x2 [acc]x2.
I won't be doing alpha strike damage so I won't be punching through anybody's shields.
I'll be obtaining a plasmonic leach console and the zero point console.
I can equip the omega or (eventually) the romulan hyper torp launcher if they are of any use.
At this moment, I have 28% tetryon consoles but I only have 26% consoles in the other weapon types. I am aware that Fleet tac consoles are coming and I'm willing to plan forward and buy the best overall weapon type now, and deal with the 26% until the new consoles arrive.
With all of that in mind, I'm trying to decide which weapon type to select.
I know this much:
The Antiprotons come with an added 20% crit chance.
The Disruptors come with an added 10% crit chance.
The plasmas would do prolonged hull damage that ignores shields. And I don't know how much the plasmonic leach affects that.
The tetryons carry some big shield damage bonuses. (they seem big to me)
.........If I run tetryons I generally like to use beam target shields and try to make my focus reducing my targets shields as much as possible.
But I don't know how those procs and bonuses play out in PVP.
I would appreciate any input on the subject.
Thanks in advance!
The Nukara Console is probably a better choice than the Assimilated or Zero Point for a Beam Boat, but chances are you have all 3.
The Nukara Console makes Fleet Weapons [Acc]x3 [Dmg]x2 which I think is awesome.
I'm going to say Disruptors for a few reasons. There are more Disruptor based weapons than any other in this game. Elachi (shield ignore), Polarised Disruptor (Polaron & Disruptor procs), Nanite Disruptors (Shield bleed through increase & Disruptor procs) Spiral Wave (Phaser & Disruptor Procs). Seriously your practically a rainbow boat with no disadvantage.
Elite Fleet Disruptors are meant to be the bomb and are uniquely Klingon.
Your ship will definitely feel Klingon using Disruptors.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

Forget everything you think you know.
Antiprotons come with an added 20 crit severity, not chance.
Disruptors have a chance to decrease damage resistance.
Plasmonic leech doesn't effect plasma procs.
Tetryons may look good but nothing that only procs 2.5% of the time can be considered "big".
Beam target shields is not going to be very useful without other sources of power drain or a dedicated drain build.
Also I'm going to say Tetryon despite looking cool (I used to use them on a Raptor and a Beam Boat) are the worst weapons in the game because the proc is near useless.
Antiproton have no proc and simply hit harder, you get a free [CrtD] Mod on them instead of a Proc.
Disruptors reduce damage resistance, meaning once they proc all incoming fire hurts more.
Polarons are good because they cause multiple subsystem drains. Flow Caps helps them too.
Plasma starts hull fires and HE has a 45s cooldown.
Phasers are kind of weak since they are random shutdowns, and they are effected by Subspace Decompiler which is a hard to get skill.
Tetryon take a chunk out of every shield, but chances are your alpha strike took out the entire shield face or the constant TT1 everybody uses makes no difference. Enhanced by Flow Caps.
The Tetryon Glider from 2pc Omega is far superior to any Tetryon Weapon and don't think they synergise.

they synergize in the fact that the proc, the tet glider are enhanced by flow caps. as is the plasmonic leech. I use the ones from the New link in combination with the above strategy, on a vesta, and get 7-8k dps normally(Captain is a sci officer) according to my act
Disruptor lets you power through STFs a bit quicker by indirectly increasing everyone who's firing on that target DPS, quite helpful on large targets like Gates and Tac Cubes. Still a solid proc in PvP too. Stacking Attack Pattern Beta for an STF config would make it go even faster. I'd mix in Nanite Disruptors for PvP, to help you and your team's bleedthrough on the shields.

That said, go acc, use the Nukara console, and use plasma or disruptor. I vote plasma with as many embassy consoles as you can
