It's a huge ship. Most players have no idea how to run it. It's a huge Escort/Bop/Cruiser warbird, fly it as such. It's a big target, it shows up visually at 50k, and its easy for a warbird, bop, or escort to camp a shield facing before you know it and pop you. All slower ships have that same problem. You mean the ONE and only Federation ship classified as a "Escort", the Defiant. Cause that's it. There are no other Fed "Escorts". They are ALL cruisers including the Sabre, Akira, and Prommy. All of you do know that GDF scaled with how much hull you had left. There was no reason to change it other than non dps classes crying about dps classes. This is feature I would like as well. Especially since the bubble is bugged on the Klingon BOPs. The bubble covers the wings down combat position not the at warp up position, so when you are at warp the BOPs wings stick up above the bubble. It's a minor nitpick but still annoying.

It's not hard. The bonus from the console set helps, a rcs console or 2, the helmsman trait, Aux2Damp, APA if you are a Tac. I run a Tac Fleet DD and I don't have any turning problems. I have a romulan with a romulan bridge crew and yesterday in Kerrat anybody who ran epta1 could see me at 20k+ no matter what. So I slotted epta1 and low and behold every klingon in visual range (25k) lit up like a beacon. Epta is broken the math is way off somewhere.

It took me a whole week of playing STF's to get the gear sets I wanted(At a casual pace). It was only 3 pieces of gear per set for a total of what 6 separate gears pieces.
