Alien race traits

Made an alien character on the romulan side. Did not think to look until I was level 7, but at this point there was 4 traits already assigned to the character that I did not choose. Did I miss the screen where I was supposed to pick my 4 traits or is PW forcing me to use the free token I get just to fix my character from creation?

    The latter.
FKA K-Tar, grumpy Klingon/El-Aurian hybrid. Now assimilated by PWE.

Yup, they took away the Trait selection at character creation, so every Alien in the universe has the same set of Traits. They are presets based on the combination of Species and Career. Since every Alien is an Alien... same Traits.

As an unintended consequence, you also have no idea what Traits your Species is eligible for until you actually get into the game; yes, you do get different optional Traits with different Species captains. For example, Romulans are not (for some reason) able to be either Efficient or Elusive, things I have always associated with Romulans...

Ah, I missed the add-back. That at least helps a bit and fits with the Romulans' general feel, from a thematic standpoint. Thanks for the feedback :)

Still, it would be nice to know what you had access to at character creation, even if not actually choosing your Traits.

Am I the only one who thinks that Aliens are getting the short end of the stick now?

I am thinking they are trying to encourage you to pick the default races like Romulans or Klingons.
