What would you have them be, an essentially 'paid' currency like lobi? Or is it that the magnitude of the rewards isn't large enough? There's only a limited number of currencies that we can be rewarded with, all of which there are other ways to obtain, meaning that there are only limited combinations of ways to do a reward scheme.
This feels like the cross between the old hourly events and the daily quests mechanic present in other games. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.
Has the game really resorted to bribing people to play now?
What do you mean by "now" ? There have always been events and other promotions that reward you for participating a.k.a playing the game. And why complain about getting more stuff for things you would have (probably) done anyway ?
Has the game really resorted to bribing people to play now?
Performing tasks for rewards is more or less central to the MMORPG premise.

Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch." "We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"

Another Korean Grinder system added.
I've seen this added to another MMO I currently play. This kind of system tries to get players involved in areas of the game that are under used. In that MMO, its to get you to try idiotic cash shop supported mini games, various PvP elements, or extreme difficulty maps in addition to normal gameplay functions. Also the system and rewards in that MMO is account wide.
I really don't care for it and succeed clearing all the daily assignments about 5 or 6 days out of 30.
Just my two credits...
Thank you for the time...

Cryptic, would you actulaly like me to spend actual Money? It's Simple:
Full, Story-driven, select from start 1-50 Klingon Side
Scrap current Lock Box & Lobi system for something more reasonable
Expand Dil and Rep/Fleet Marks to regular story content
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.
Things I want in STO:
1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!
Sounds interesting, but the devil is in the details and those are sorely lacking. Despite that i am cautiously optimistic.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
Seems like this will work to allow those players who have just joined from consoles to experience some of the older queues/zones, so I appreciate it in that respect on their behalf. However, I can see indifference setting in after a while, much like it did with the old way the Academy event used to run once every 20-hour cycle.
I would like to make a recommendation, if I may? Would you allow the order of the events to mimic the order in which the 'narrative' is intended to flow; first the Klingon War story arc, then the Starbase 24/Gorn Minefield Fleet Action, etc? I feel that would allow some of the newer players to experience this content for the first time, but also in the order in which it was originally intended.
Could be interesting since many MMOs use this system already, but what kind of amounts of rewards can we expect? More like "get 30,000 fleet-only dil to keep your main dil reserve safe and a chance to a unique item" or closer to "get 1,000 unrefined dil and a cup of water a day, shipping cost not included"?
This sounds... interesting. Obviously I will try it out, but I have to know, are the rewards account unlocks or character unlocks?
If they are account wide, then great. Marks, Dil, EC is always welcome. I don't even expect a lot from these rewards. Maybe 50-100 marks, 500 Dil or perhaps 50k-100k EC. And if there is anything unique, those rewards need to be account unlocks.
If they are single character, then there better not EVER be something unique as a reward. And obviously, if the rewards are a single character unlock then they would need to be much higher.
I will wait to see what the finished product holds to pass judgement.
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
But to get the most out of it we need to be able to save trait and pri/sec skill loadouts like we do for ship loadouts.
I still think this mechanic would be most welcomed & useful in STO. My example is if your character utilizes a primary & secondary ship to play STO with switching back & forth between ships. Let's say an escort & then a carrier since that's the current Summer event ship reward. A player wants to optimize their skills to match the ship. So far the only options I am realizing to do this is: designate a certain character to be a pilot for all carriers (escorts, cruisers, science) &/or use Respec tokens a lot which isn't too efficient & would be costly.
Granted not a lot of details were released about this Endeavor System, but I think it could be good & fun.
I haven't seen but I have read about those past "Community Events" where there was a goal assigned, I think I read it was weekly, & if enough participated & completed then all would get a small reward of some sort.
To me this sounds like a mini-version of that & it seems passive so not much of a loss if you don't succeed.
Again, not a lot of details were released however so only time will tell if it will be worth a player's time.
I worry all these additional "grinding" mechanics will slow or halt my feel of progress then I'll not play as much & not spend as much because the fun will be less.
I'm looking forward to see how Cryptic uses this innovative tool.

To be clear, endeavors are on a per-account basis. Once you finish a given endeavor it's done for your account.
At this time the rewards are non-unique items - you will get a mix of various rewards like marks and energy credits.
Ultimately this means it's up to you to decide whether a given endeavor is something that you'll enjoy. If it's something you think you'll like, great! You get bonus rewards for doing it! If you decide not to, there'll be something different to do in a couple of days.
As long as the endeavors are not impossible to accomplish, I'm game.
If I see "Fire a Weapon on Deep Space Nine," "Rename Elisa Flores," or "Discharge Tovan Khev" in the mix, I swear to my character Zeus that I will Lightning Bolt everything I see...

Thanks for the answers. I was hoping it'd be a program like this and not something to chase like the rewards during events. Jut play normally and get a small-ish reward. I can get behind that. I look forward to seeing just exactly what we'll be doing.
Dead queues maybe not so dead anymore? One can hope.

But haven't we done something like this before? I think it was around the time Delta Rising came out.
if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.
It was similar, with global goals that unlocked bonusses for the following week. This is more like a daily quest system it seems.
I also take it that these rewards are per account, not per character. The blog doesn't really say it though.

just what we needed - MORE EC printing in an already massively hyperinflated EC economy and no sinks of worth to destroy it
