You should be able to get in without choosing "show all games". Can you confirm?

    Cheers,

    Brandon =/\=

/updated/ No longer having the issue after de-selecting "show all games."

EDIT: Okay, I take back what I said, as Im not crashing on the launcher as of 2049 EDT on 21/3/2012.

Brandon, you guys did an EXCELLENT job at response. Thats an excellent response to a pretty major bug. I figured it was going to last days, no compensation's needed because you guys responded extremely quickly. Kudos to your QA Team and Developers, they obviously know what they're doing.

I read about people having problems with other apps TeamSomething (not TeamSpeak, some remote login thinggy) causing problems. So while I was deleting/redownloading/reverifying stuff through steam I had a look through my task manager and noticed this little *($#@#)er hiding.

    distnoted.exe

It's an iTunes "extra" that is known for causing all sorts of problems. And I think my missus just updated iTunes recently.

It might have been all my deleting/verifying/re-downloading that fixed it, but it also could have been just killing distnoted.exe.

If someone having these problems has iTunes updated recently it would be worth trying. Kill it and see if your launcher works again.

The problems that were causing this have been fixed. If you are still having this issue, it could be between your ISP and browser -- if you can, try clearing IE's cache and restart the launcher.

    Cheers,

Last go around that there was a similar problem, you need to go into Internet Explorer's "Tools" and "Delete Browsing History" and make sure that "Preserve Favorites Website Data" is UNCHECKED

If you're like me, you have startrekonline.com as a favorite, and that checkbox will prevent the launcher from correcly resetting.

Just throwing this out there, but I know last time it continually crashed on me, I believe it had to do with my nvidia driver. Once I updated the driver, I was able to get in with no issues. I'm able to get in no problem and updated my video driver last night.

    It's a long shot but worth a try :)

I was dumb and verified my game cache. Now I am re-downloading the entire game.

Yeah, I know, I was dumb.

If you have nvidia card and having this problem you may want update.. My issues went away after I updated my video card drivers

You may not use IE, but the launcher does.

Find whatever dark hole it has been banished to (not that I blame you), and attempt clearing the cache and cookies.

Since this morning I haven't been able to get the STO launcher to work..just get a "Trying to update Launcher window" that eventually times out. I'm also having trouble getting on to many websites outside the US, such as BBC. I've done tracert's but haven't been able to nail down where it stops for STO or other websites but surmise that a major hub is having problems.

Mine does not crash on the launcher, mine crashes RIGHT AFTER I select my character( my level 41 character of course) and starts to load, gets halfway, stops, and then stops, gives me an error ticket( same number every time-11765761) I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, redownloading, show all games, safe mode, Tribble server, Holodeck server, verifying all files( comes up clean), allowing exceptions in firewall, port forwarding, disabling on demand patching, updating video drivers, de-fragging, restarting PC, voodoo curses, praying to God, lighting incense, rain dances, and banging the computer and monitor. Nothing works to fix this. I know it is not my problem as I can play Champions online, City of Heroes, DCUO and EVE Online with no problems whatsoever... This HAS to be a Cryptic side issue as it only AFFECTS MY LEVEL 41 character....Seems a bit suspicious that it would only happen after I decide to pay for the game again...

Teamviewer and when I exited the viewer and loaded the launcher it worked just fine.
