I love it. Maybe Cryptic is finally going to filter some of that Lockbox cash back into the game. Wouldn't it be nice to have more detailed ships that actually take detailed battle damage. Things are looking up for STO. Did anyone notice in one of the pictures with the New temporal T6 ships there is a ship setting above a planet and you can see the citys on the planet. Thats a graphics upgrade right there. I know I'm getting my hopes up but AOY may actually be The Best Expansion ever and The players might really Love it. Imagine that?

Did anyone get a picture of it against the T1 Connie for size comparison?
Somone posted this up, that work?
Not really - they're not on the same level, rather it would appear that the Connie is "below" the alt-Connie in this shot. What we need is for the two ships to cut thrust altogether and park next to each other, not be flying around at all angles.
Actually the person who took that image did so through the games demo mode. The TOS connie is on the same level as the Kelvin Timeline connie. I've lined up ships like the Galaxy-class and Odyssey-class starships on test and the Kelvin Timeline connie is at least twice the length of the TOS version, and Thomas Marrone has said on twitter that he used the measurements that CBS gave him which were around 720 meters.
Which means the in-game Vengeance is going to be an insane 1459 meters.
AND it can be operated by a single person. You won't even have to bring your Boffs and Doffs along.

I personally preferred the '09 impulse engine configuration.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

What a beautiful ship. Superior in aesthetic to the original Connie in every way imaginable. The real deal Constitution finally made it into STO. I couldn't be more excited!
Have you lost your mind? The original Constitution's slender, long lines have always made her the sexiest girl at the party. The new one has...cankles?
Please post pictures of tiny crew members being dwarfed by their viewscreen or little ant men running down, later exposed, corridors. You know, stuff from the film itself any not from some rather nice drawings.
Hope that helps.
Not really. Got a scale for those shuttles? Hell, for that matter have you got a scale for the Intrepids shuttlebay? Size of the Delta Flyer and Nelix's ship?
However we do have a scale for the corridors rattler2 posted as well as Spock standing by the window. You know, the huge prominent feature at the front of the bridge that you can physically see through in space.
Interesting that the Yorktown still has the older impulse engines unlike the ones the Enterprise got upgraded with when she was refitted and repaired after Into Darkness.
This shot from Into Darkness clearly shows a corridor from the outside, which would give a good indication of how tall the decks are.
And there's a shot of Kirk and I believe Scotty running through those corridors for scale.
The problem with the AR Connie is that she was built with a similar size to the original in mind. So all of her features were scaled appropriately. At some point someone decided to scale her up, and they didn't bother to adjust any of the features.
As for the scale problems, I always figured that if the Enterprise from the JJ-verse is on the more massive scale that any other windows it might have are usually covered by blast shutters as we see in the TOS Enterprise in-STO. Either that or most of the decks do away with windows altogether in favor of viewscreens.
But that's clearly not true in the pics you've just quoted. It shows one corridor per deck with saucer thickness of two to three decks.. Not possible for the magical ~700m ship but perfectly scaled for the ~300m ship.
and also that CBS as an entity - not any individual person who doesn't have authority over canon - has decided to side with the ship's designer
Well if they're that bothered they can go back and do a director's cut of the films to add in their new ~700m sized ship because it's not in there ATM.
Remember CBS' canon policy is that canon is onscreen material, not off-screen material, even CBS' off-screen material.
Changed my mind. Not rising to the bait. Just going to enjoy that it's big, that CBS and Paramount both have to have signed off on it being big in an official licensed product, and that the Vengeance will be even bigger.
Meh. Still doesn't change the size of the actual ship in the films though.
Still I prefer it bigger in the game anyway. It's such a fantastically detailed ship it would be a shame to have it too small to see. That's the reason the games Defiant is so big as well.
Imagine that. Professional creators respecting the work of their professional creator peers over a fan with a protractor. No one could have foreseen it.
I know, imagine all the hard work of the people that made the bloody models scaled to ~350m and over four hours of ~350 metres flying past in ultra HD being dumped in favour of a severe case of TRIBBLE overcompensation.
Imagine the word of backstage intent being selected over the actual evidence of eyeballs backed up by the CGI models themselves eh?
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

By CBS' current canon policy the canon length of the AR Constitution Class is unknown, but a length of ~350m can be derived by looking at the canon material presented. Some (i.e. ONE single piece) canon evidence can point towards a much larger length, but as with the Intrepid Class, the magic shuttlebay can be overlooked in favour of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

out fitting her with cannons would be nice... i liked how it was spraying out shots like crazy during battles.
There's a shot of the Yorktown firing somewhere upthread, looks like they've put in the pulsed phaser arrays from the films. We might well see those in-game for player ships if a KT Lockbox is coming.

no idea why folks are so hung up on scale... what you see on screen is not real... it is what the director wants for visual impact. if cbs or whoever the head honcho for the IP is... if they say it's X size then thats it... if the next meeting they change it then it's recot to that... each movie has a new size scale then thats officially it... /shrug it's fiction. it could very well be that the ship for each alt reality is sized differently... cause they each have different needs.

Have you lost your mind? The original Constitution's slender, long lines have always made her the sexiest girl at the party. The new one has...cankles?
The TOS Constitution has been.. and always well be.. one of the most ridiculous looking ships in all of Sci-Fi.
Every time I see it, I cringe. It looks like exactly what it is.. a ship out of the 70's made with cheap plastic and cardboard on a shoe string budget.
The 1701-A looks considerably better, but I never understood the love for the 1701. TOS still rules.. but the 1701 is stupid looking.
People are so up in arms about size....this ship isnt from the damn prime universe ladies. The kelvin timeline's tech is more advanced than the prime universe's of the same timeframe. To expect them to be the same is plain idiotic.
Seriously, another thread blathering about measurements of the ship? You know it being a half meter off in size will break my immersion and I will not put up with such an egregious insult. Hurump, Hurump.

This lock box is going to be a gold mine for Cryptic.
This is assuming the first lock box will include this. The first lock box of the expansion could be ANYTHING.
The movie comes out next month, so the ships will come out in the lockbox on the 5th with the expansion. That's how paid cross promotion events work, and there should be no doubt that Paramount footed the bill for this stuff as an in-game ad.

There you are, sir. As you can see, the scale of the JJ shuttlecraft are easily 1/3 larger (if not two times larger) than the TOS shuttlecraft. That would make the JJ Enterprise even larger than my original images suggest. Have any other queries on the subject?

Don't forget that the engineering deck, with those inexplicable hundreds of feet of giant water tubes in it and the craptons of warp cores they eject at the end, all need to fit in there as well somehow.
It's only fair, though, because they did the same crappy thing with the TMP Enterprise, where the entire secondary hull would need to be shuttle/cargo bay despite main engineering and the rec deck somehow being in there as well.

Good. Now the same for the Delta Flyer and Nelix's ship plus 30 odd Type 9 shuttles and an explanation of Voyagers shuttlebay. Then an attempt to call any comparisons of shuttle bays off in favour of features that actually matter like the windows and corridors with clearly seen people on the other side.
I did say that that scene was the only one in the film that supports a larger size but also that all of the other evidence points against it.
