I would like to join too..Have experience is QA with globalstep and codemasters..
BUT one requirement..FIX WHATEVER IS HAPPENING AT IP 198.49.243.253 AND BEYOND INSIDE CRYPTIC STUDIOS PLEASE!!!
FYI... If you are referring to that point in your Tracert, showing 100% Packet loss, its because that particular hop in the Chain is set up to deny tracert/ping requests. It is however accepting game traffic...

Maybe..But that paticular hop is causing the launcher to fail when it goes into autoupdate mode when starting up..
Support the movement! Come stand with us in supporting Star Trek: The Animated Series content for STO! (It's canon!) #TASforSTO
Time travel and glass-cannon ships hurt my head and is NOT what Trek is about. Trek is exploration, becoming better as a species, and gaining scientific knowledge while holding on to the traditions that got us where were are. Get the Forums Enhancement Extension!
I wish you folks had done this 3 yrs ago while I was still interested in trying to help you... or even a few days ago...before I finally reached my tolerance capacity. I may try to keep playing but doubt it... it is now 3 days in a row that I just turned off the game in disgust. However, I love ST and STO...when it is actually working...so, I wish you all good luck.
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to solicit unpaid volunteers to do work that's currently being done by paid employees. Even if it's not, it's pretty immoral; just hire more QA staff and help the economy.
Not to argue... but are you sure they are all paid employees...? If so, then maybe it is time to fire a few so the rest get the message to do their work completely and adhere to a decent quality standard.
We don't want what the Feds have. We want the equivalent. We want fairer treatment. Concern, desire, greed to some extent, and passionate belief that the enough people would buy KDF items to make it worth Cryptic's while.
But to answer your question more readily, this is a volunteer program. You can opt in to do this if you so choose.
Not even a unique ship or something as a 'thank you for your help' kinda thing? That's a bit harsh aint it. Don't get me wrong, I did volunteer for Linden Lab and worked for them as volunteer for about 11 years (bug hunting, translations, new content ideas and many more things), but even they gave at least now and then some 'thank you' to their volunteers. Not that it was much, but at least you were not working for nothing. Do realize that volunteers stop using their time to play just to help out, meaning taking away time they could use gaining ingame rewards.
It would be wise for Cryptic to be thankful for those that actually do help out and wish to keep doing it. Yes it is a door opening to see a tiny bit from Cryptic's kitchen so to speak, but that is no reason to close the door and ignore volunteers. Even Volunteers need motivation to keep going, you can't expect them to run on nothing

Seeing the list of items we raise and as a result get fixed in the patch notes is all the motivation we need. That and the knowledge we're helping to make the game a better experience for the majority of players.

All This...
Plus when Companies create teams like this and announce that there will be rewards for it... people apply for the rewards and not to help. Take a look at Wargaming as an example. Even if they add rewards and don't announce it... it'll get out and the same thing happens. people join the group for the Reward and not for the group.
I don't need a reward for doing this. I already did this stuff before the Team was formed. This team just gives me a way to do what I was already doing with a higher chance of it being noticed and fixed. Plus I now have a location where I can talk about the nitty gritty, and the Highly controversial topics in STO like Exploits without the fear of it divulging into a flame fest. The people in this group are in it because we care about the game more than we care about ourselves. We would much rather see a change in the game that helps the mass playerbase than one thats only gonna affect us or a small group.
I don't need a reward. being able to talk to the people in this group and ask real questions without fear of personal attacks or flame-fests is all I need to succeed. Although that Nice little forum Title is pretty cool

Having bugs fixed while you don't play the game yourself because of the long hours of testing you don't really end up having the motivation in just a bug fix. As I mentioned, I did the bug hunt thing for 11 years. I am not a kiddie that spouts out some nonsonse. I actually know what i'm talking about, haha

Then how about you speak for yourself and not for people you don't know? Telling other people how they should feel about something is pretty childlike.

I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.

Whilst I've not been involved in bug fixing for as long as you, Let me assure you and @tarastheslayer will vouch for this. I'm still very much able to do both and still enjoy doing them. But like @primar13 has said, people would only join for the rewards and contribute nothing else. Hell you've only got to look back to when they gave away the free tribbles for "testing" the new content on the tribble server, and players were doing next to nothing for an hour.
I can't speak for anyone else but I went into this with my eyes open, knowing full well that it was purely on a volunteer basis, and I'm happy with that, if your not then maybe this endeavor isn't for you. Whilst the O.S.T. has it's own private forum and whilst I'm not prepared to link any information that's contained on those boards. I will state that the quality of the bug reports that get posted in there are a quantum leap above what I've seen on the public boards.
I for one, appreciate all of the volunteers who are doing this. They're making the game better for all of us. I would volunteer myself, but I'm not very well-versed in electronics beyond hitting the power button. LOL
But I do appreciate what you knowledgeable bug hunters are doing. And good hunting, too!
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
I would gladly help out with this. I have been playing for a little over 4 years now and have seen many improvements and dysfunctions added to the game.
I dont know if you are still looking, but I have 30 years IT. And did a lot of STUB and full scale testing. Including being in every MS release since Windows 95/2000.

The only reward a gamer should expect is the reward of a good gaming experience. That and knowing your helping others in their experience as well. I find that rewarding enough.
I'm definitely interested in signing up if you're still recruiting? I've just started at a software company after years at sea (falling back on rusty skills), but know enough about development to be of some use I hope. I'll be moving into the QA and support teams at work as part of my departmental rotation soon as well, so any help I can provide to STO will in return help me build my skillset! A few in-game goodies wouldn't go amiss either!
I have seen a BUNCH of issues reported by the Support Team: Yay! But Many have ZERO status updates: Boo! Its like yeah, all the Support team can do is reproduce, fill out the form, and send it off. That's it. So, its like a more detailed version of the Gameplay Bug Reports forum, except a dev actually might see them or care, yes?
Umm I guess I got Tons In Tribbles Devs please Fixed tribbles first because right now it pretty much more Broken than Holodeck But Hey Why not I always play on Tribbles Anyways.
I'll throw my name in the hat to help. If there is something that needs testing and wireshark logs will help am definitely happy to try. I have limited playtime however at least for the next couple months but can test as I play.
