Only the Daleks in that city got attacked. The rest of the ones out in the fleets zipping through space are completely unharmed. And to be honest, I somehow doubt Skaro itself got wiped out either. Just that one city was damaged. But if Skaro is newly rebuilt, where did all those ancient decrepid Daleks come from? That only makes sense if it was actually the original Skaro that was somehow saved, like in Dalek that Time Forgot.
Which I consider to be canon. I don't care what's said on the actual show.

Solely the TV series, I should't have to go digging around for answers. Besides the TV show has a hard enough time of continuity never mind factoring in all the thousands of books, comics, audio, web exclusive, Big finish/BBV spinoffs etc.

That's the way I see it as well, for generally every show/series there is. To me, Star Wars only consists of one (three) movies, six if you count the prequels which however really have no bearing on the original story anyway so they can just as well be ignored. We'll see if I add a fourth to the mix.
If there's something to tell then tell me in the primary medium, I'm not going to buy merchandise just to get a whole picture. The only thing I might accept are things like the TMs for Star Trek which describe non-story related, general bakgrounds with contribution from the original creators/designers. On-screen still overwrites that but they are legitimate sources for non-critical stuff. But I am not going to go read novel xyz to understand why character abc makes an appearance. If they do that for a wink to the fans of said novel it's fine, but they need to "canonize" the appearance by providing exposition.

Now Star Wars is down the the same three levels. Unfortunately they include Clone Wars and Rebels as Hard Canon.

I'm also glad about the alternate reality thing, but Star Trek canon only knows "canon" and "non-canon". There is no "soft"-canon. There are three kinds of work, official, licensed and fanmade but CBS declared only official television and movie pieces to be canon, nothing else. In that context, "soft-canon" looses it's purpose as it is non-canon. Of course it's canonical in it's line of work, but not in the greater picture.
People have to udnerstand that this does not devalue those works, they still stand on their own. But calling it "soft-canon" to make it seem more important seems to me like tricking oneself. And yes, I know prior to CBS taking over things were different buit now there is an official definition by the IP holders. Wether one agrees or not.

I'll give a 'hell yes' to your first point, to your second it's a no from me. I dislike Strax, more specifically I dislike what he turned the Sontarans into, he's meant to be defective, not template. I can't watch him without getting angry. I also don't like Vastra, she's too much like every other female character Moffat writes. I do like Jenny though.
Actually, having thought about this in the few seconds it's taking me to write this reply, it might be nice to see Victoria, I believe she was dumped back in her own time.

I'll grant you that Strax is too much played for comedic effect, although I also have to say it somehow never gets old - for an entire spin-off show though they'd need to adjust. But for me it's also the nice memory that the PAternoster Gang was basically the sole thing which made the Smith-era bearable for me, I couldn't stand the Ponds, River Song nor Smith himself (until the very, very end when he somehow got his act together). The Gang made it very enjoyable and with Vastra and Jenny I could also see a TRIBBLE lead which would in no way need to exploit that. That's actually the one little thing I could grant kudos to Moffat, although to be fair I always liked Moffat's episodes, it just went terrible once he started to be the show runner.

I dislike their relationship even more than the Ponds, Jenny is an actual servant in this case. Something just grates me about her being her wife and maid.

I want inflatable decoys instead of holographic fleet
I just read about the new Dr. Who spin-off. And now I really want to TRIBBLE on Moffat's doorstep. If anyone from the current Dr. Who show would deserve a spin-off it's the Paternoster Gang!

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

@Artan: This Jenny?
My character Tsin'xing
I'm not sure who you tagged there, you missed a '42' off the end . No, not that Jenny, unfortunately .

I always like the Ponds as people, I just didn't like their relationship, Amy was too much of a bully.
I dislike their relationship even more than the Ponds, Jenny is an actual servant in this case. Something just grates me about her being her wife and maid.
He's trying to take what was good because it was cleaver and different and make it convoluted and routine. So the exact opposite.
