YAY! ANOTHER FRIKKING FED SHIP! How about a Romulan Carrier first eh? We don't even have ONE of those yet. >.< Seriously f'ers just stop with the non-stop fed bloat. Fill out the other 2 for a while, or at least go back to releasing 1 for each... no way Im opening my wallet for a fed ship ever again unless its part of a pack with my KDF and RR ships
Theta and Omega have the most promise as a carrier hull tho
Looking at the current design list, not a single one of them says "carrier" to me. They all just look like escorts/cruisers to me. "Maybe" I could see sigma or epsilon end up being a "carrier". But even with those ones, they just remind me of a defiant.
This should be an interesting event to see what players come up with since they constantly complain about what Cryptic does.
I'll be honest, I dislike all the options. Either they look like Command Ships or they look like blimps. Why can't Cryptic design something traditional Star Trek?
I mean here are my own design concepts for Federation Carriers that I feel are more along the lines of Traditional Trek Design:
Favoring heavily Design Omega right now. It has proper outboard nacelles (I follow the Trek EU, and in one of the books it is said that outboard nacelles are more efficient at generating warp field - which makes sense, inboard engines would need to extend the field farther), as well as lots of area for a proper flight deck. I imagine that's what the big white bar on te side is, but you also have the aft between the nacelles. I'd raise the nacelles up a bit relative to the hull, but other than that Omega's going to have my vote come tomorrow.

After the mess that was the Design your own enterprise contest, they are not going to be doing any outside design options anymore.
To be blunt, Although All your Drawings are very well done, I'm not a fan of them, and would not purchase any of them if they had been made. They are nice drawings though.
I for one, feel these are all Starfleet Type Ships.
I'm hopeful a T6 Vo'quv will be released along side this. As for Romulans, well they have had some great in house designs on T6 ships, so not overly concerned.
I would like to see KDF maintain supremecy in terms of Frigate Pets. Unless this Fed carrier is gonna spit out aquarius'
I really really really like Beta

They are all too close in appearance and rather bulbous. Love the concept but not the models so far. Think outside the box alittle. The pilot ships were great....I am sure you can design a better carrier

Because sometimes, traditional shouldn't be the immediate response?
I mean, look at the Defiant, the Olympic, the Norway and the Steamrunner classes. Very unusual designs by overall Starfleet standard. Even the Deep Space Science Vessel, the Orcale/Trident/Destiny classes, were designed by John Eaves, who also created the Sovereign design (among other design work for ST). Are you gonna disparage that guy for breaking with tradition?
Considering a Starfleet carrier is such an atypical Starfleet ship type, why not go for something that also is a bit different from the norm? Nothing wrong with that every now and then.
Also, if you really want to design ships for this game, why not just..... try applying with the STO team?
The side view is the bottom image. The top image is the top-down view.
The Omega design is nothing like the Jupiter-class.
Are you sure about that?
I can give you a moment to really think it over if you like.
Look at the images again. After you realize you're looking at it wrong, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't encourage people to vote for it just because you thought its top looked like the side of another ship.
If we had the option to kitbash them around, I'd pick
the upper saucer from beta, gamma or epsilon
the lower saucer from gamma
and the nacelle setup from omega
maybe add that "control tower" thingy from alpha
Buuut since this is about voting on concepts and not putting one together from all these parts, I'm going with omega. That's the closest to a carrier in there (imo).

I like Omega, its the only one that looks like it has a flight deck. But the nacelles need be closer in like Sigma or physically incorporated into the hull like the Steamrunner or Saber

I never said "Use my Design". All I said is "why can't they design something traditional like these". But I'll say this, if you bought the Regent, you already bought one of my designs.

We know Cryptic would never hire me in a million years. Besides, I have no interest in living in California.
Anyhow if you want to compare John Eaves work with this, by all means. But I guarantee you he would design a better Starfleet Carrier than the options we were presented with.
Kind of annoyed to see that Feds are getting a T6 carrier before the KDF does, given the history of carriers (and dev promises regarding such) in this game. I don't guess there's anything we as players can really do about it, though.
Personally, I'm gonna vote for Omega. Because playable Jupiter(ish).

I'll attribute the Design of the Regent to the STO Artist who built it. Since many people have created art that looks similar to the Sovvy/Regent Models
These are all Concept Art, just to show a general idea of what a ship could be.
We all know once the Ship Artist who gets to build it gets his hands on it, they will put their own spin on it.

I.... really hope you're kidding with that.
The main section of the Omega choice is clearly mimicking the Jupiter class main section. I don't even need to "look at it again". I've examined that ship very carefully since closed Beta and beyond, and I'd recognize it anywhere.
I'd say go and find a Jupiter class in-game to compare it to, but it's a pretty hard-to-find ship these days. Maybe check the Foundry ship viewer.
Point is, and I don't know how to frame this delicately, but you are super mistaken here.
Ok, what the hell is with this Jupiter Class TRIBBLE???
The Jupiter class Dreadnought is/was the original dreadnought level NPC that Starfleet fielded in DSE's and missions.
A very unusual design to say the least, like other off-style Starfleet designs such as the Defiant, Olympic, Trident, and Hermes. It has since been phased out and replaced with Odyssey class and Galaxy-X class dreadnoughts in NPC encounters, and is very rarely seen in STO these days.
It's always had a bit of a small cult following, as its massive size and atypical design endeared it to a handful of the community.
Personally, I always felt that if a design inspired by it were to ever come to the players, it would actually be as a Starfleet carrier and not as a dreadnought.
Here we are.
The Omega choice clearly has the most nods to the Jupiter, with the top part of its main section emulating it the most. Though frankly, a lot of the carrier designs have a nod here and there to it (size more than likely, and nacelle number as well).
Ok, putting my foot down here. While there was nothing said about it being a T6, we all know it will be. It's BS if the feds get a T6 carrier before the Klingons get one.
All Three Factions got one from Q as a Christmas Gift last year.
Although I want the RRW and KDF to get one. I'm sure they will in time.
All 3 factions got a non faction carrier last Christmas, a lot of players don't want to be flying somthing thats not a faction ship (I want to be able to use my BoP frigate pets and i cannot do that on a non faction ship), and if past expieriences are anything to go by if the KDF and RRW don't get one when the fed ship is released the chances are slim to non that they will ever get one.
As i said in a previous post it will be absolutely crazy if the Faction that was the origional carrier users dont get a T6 carrier when the Feds get one, but based on past decisions i am not hopefull that the KDf will get one.
You said it much better then I did. I'm hoping that it'll be a 3 faction pack, but chances aren't great of that. Like you said, if there isn't a Klingon and Romulan released with the Federation one, they likely won't get one.
Personally, I'm gonna vote for Omega. Because playable Jupiter(ish).
*double facepalm*
I give up...
Hey, the command ships don't look all that much like a Typhoon, either, but they're as close as we're gonna get. I know we're never gonna get an actual playable Jupiter, but if we can get something that at least evokes it (and it does, to me and to many others on this thread), that's good enough for me.
What type of 'carrier' is it to be? Like the Atrox, a fighter only one, or will be like the Vo'Quv and launch Escorts? I hope is former.. or if latter will herald the making of a T6 KDF carrier... plz?

And I really don't see the Jupiter in the Omega. The top view sorta works, but from the side it looks completely different.
More angles would be appreciated, if possible.

Any chance we can do this with the KDF and Romulans in the future ?? So they won't be left out.
