What type of 'carrier' is it to be? Like the Atrox, a fighter only one, or will be like the Vo'Quv and launch Escorts? I hope is former.. or if latter will herald the making of a T6 KDF carrier... plz?
Unknown what kind of carrier it'll be. I'm wondering if we'll get maybe some kinda successor design or alternate fighter to choose from other than the Peregrines.
Honestly, none of the ship selections really look like they can launch anything much larger than a fighter or a shuttle, but I guess that's what fleshing it out after it's picked is for.
Also, what's the real point? Seriously, if it's just the design and we don't get a say in what the stats are, why not just add all the design choices in the game for a single ship?
Omega seems a good like for a fed fighter carrier, pity they can't use the USS Typhon from the Star Trek Invasion game. Having a carrier with on frigate level hanger bay would be an interesting slant for a fed carrier.
[I'll attribute the Design of the Regent to the STO Artist who built it. Since many people have created art that looks similar to the Sovvy/Regent Models
These are all Concept Art, just to show a general idea of what a ship could be.
We all know once the Ship Artist who gets to build it gets his hands on it, they will put their own spin on it.
Oh so by that logic Captain Logan would be credited as the designer of the Enterprise-F and not Adam Ihle. Or Vektor not being credited as the designer of the Chimera. Guess us signing contracts with CBS meant nothing, by what you just said. Guess you being "friends" with the Dev Team gives you special insight.
I was under the impression that the only Player Created ship in the game was the Odyssey Class Starship. I had never seen anything that had indicated otherwise.
As I read back through the Original Dev Blog, where JamJamz lays out how HE came up with the Regent Class, I find nothing to dispute the fact that it was a cryptic design.
I will give Credit to Ihle, as the Odyssey is one of my favorite and I did not know the Chimera was a Fan design, and I do see that is was, from what was in the Original Dev Blog.
Also where did I say, I'm friends with the devs? Although I do like most of them, and chat with them a lot on social media, I've never really been given anything special information wise that another player would not have known.
Hmm... Omega, because only this may be taken as a carrier.
However it doesn't look like Jupiter at all. Ok, from top view it has this same shape, but side view is completely different - no secondary hull, no characteristic nacelles pylons. If somebody ask me what is more like Jupiter: a bucket or a pen... yeah, a bucket.
Also: I know in this case it's a carrier, but for the future can we please, go back to more traditional starfleet cruisers? What's with this wird nacelles attachment? Command BC are unique and ok, but why all ships must now look like 6 to 9 parts bonded to each other in wird places? Can't we (I mean Cryptic) build classical design? With neck and nacelles pylons attached to secondary hull?
Please don't point at Guardian 'cause it was shameful cash grab from GC fans.
Also: Great idea Trendy. I vote for Pantheon class and Trendy class pets
Also: I like Beta and Delta too, but more for science/diplomatic ships.
EDIT: I'm glad we're finally making a true Fed carrier. The Jupiter class doesn't count because it wasn't playable, and it didn't look very Starfleet to me.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.
Trendy has Called this Project Pantheon. So I for one am hoping whatever is chosen is named the Pantheon Class Carrier in honor of all her hard work.
Not a bad idea. Pantheon is a group of gods and the ship was chosen by a group (of gods optional ).
I like that.
Personally I like the Delta and Omega, though the lower nacelle is too scrawny on the latter.
I just hope this means a T6 carrier for the KDF and Roms, too.

As you just pointed out the Chimera wasn't credited to Vektor, but the design was really, really obvious. The Regent with me, and even recently Fuzzy Modem wasn't credited with inspiring the Command Ship when the designer later revealed in a post he was. The only one who did get direct credit was Adam Ihle for winning the contest.
Also where did I say, I'm friends with the devs? Although I do like most of them, and chat with them a lot on social media, I've never really been given anything special information wise that another player would not have known.

Vektor was credited for the Chimera, He wrote the blog!
Design your own ship. The design on these new ship look like the enginers took some of the design form ship of the past just updates. I was looking for a whole new look an design for Startrek online Hmmmm I can we at least draw our own ready room an captain quarters????
I really like the designs. But I'd like to know where the flight decks/launchers are located in the designs. Sure thing can change, these are after all starting points for the full design of the carrier, but I'd like to get a better sense of the differences in the designs a bit above just different warp nacelle placements and arrangements.
Like it looks like the white bar on the side profile for the Omega design looks like where whatever the carrier is carrying (fighters, runabouts, whatever) would be launched from, the others are a bit iffy about theirs are located.
Under what category will the carriers be? Science, cruiser or escort, maybe something of a combination of those? Will there be some Universal bridge officer positions? Some of the designs had advanced sensor hubs/arrays (Alpha and Delta), while the Beta looks like it has a weapons pod.
All I have to say is, I like them all for various reasons, but I'd like to know more, if possible to pinpoint my favourite.
Thank you for giving us some input for the Federation Carrier starship
Anybody else think that the Sigma and Epsilon designs would actually be scaled down to make gorgeous hangar pets for this carrier? They have a compact and aggressive styling. If you scale them mentally down to runabout size, they're perfect.
I am a bit disappointed with the options. Hopefully some of the other ship sections to come for this kit-bash will be nicer. Sadly, I will vote for the Theta piece in the first poll due to it being the least ugly in my opinion.
I love the Beta profile, but I'm less crazy about the top-down view. The saucer is too much like a horseshoe crab, somehow. Narrower would suit my tastes, I think. But I like the dual nacelles. I think we've got enough quad nacelle designs for now. I also really love the Theta design, but it doesn't fit a carrier, to me.
I like the THETA then BETA designs and AGREE we're getting far too many Quad Drive (in appearance at least) from Command Ships to others already introduced. THETA & BETA are also the only Carrier designs SHOWING what appears to be 6 hanger bay doors off the rear of the sauser. I think THETA best represents a design I like that resembles FED standards.
Why do people try to drastically redesign FED standards to simply launch 12 deployed craft (Carrier paints the wrong impression) when all Starships typically carry 6-12 shuttles in their 2 or 3 hanger bays. Sure I understand "Carriers" have twice the shuttle capabilities but this is Star Trek not Star Wars, and we don't need flying Aircraft carriers that look like they carry hundreds of craft inside--were explorers not launching plantary invasion fleet. I guess I just don't like regularly sacrificing young Ensigns to defend a far more capable ship at the sacrifice of a few weapon banks.
2nd Choice:
SIGMA would be my 2nd choice. if THETA weren't choosen.
I'm torn between Sigma and Epsilon. Partially because from these crude outlines, they look more similar to this design. That being said, I'm hoping that they'll also give us additional fighters to use in this craft. The Peregrine are severely lacking.

Those are the two Im torn between... (to make the best of bad designs).
Overall though, I think most of those designs look like butts... and would much prefer Cryptic approach CBS/[insert appropriate license holder] about acquiring the Typhon design straight from Invasion
all are really nice designs in my oppinion though the one that catches my eye and stands out from just being a same as before is omega with the hanger bay visable and proud, which as its to be a carrier suits, stated here (Our Corps of Engineers have been working around the clock to deliver you possible schematics for the new Carrier)
Kind of annoyed to see that Feds are getting a T6 carrier before the KDF does, given the history of carriers (and dev promises regarding such) in this game. I don't guess there's anything we as players can really do about it, though.
Personally, I'm gonna vote for Omega. Because playable Jupiter(ish).
Who says ,they do? For all we know they will update both the existing KDF carriers to T6 with updated builds and designs.
My vote would go to (in order of preference) Gamma, Alpha, Epsilon, and then Sigma (although I think the profile views of Epsilon and Sigma look a little too similar to be a drastically different ship, variants of each other perhaps?)
Either way, Alpha and Gamma would definitely get my vote if they were upscaled.
I would to see a new Federation carrier that would be able to launch Aquarius - class ships. All the other races has the ability to launch a frigate size ship from a carrier, why can't the Federation?

So I'd choose Gamma, perhaps with Delta's saucer section. Or Delta, but then I'd add the nacelles from Omega or Gamma.
(Also please stop bashing on the odyssey class it makes me sad )
