Design Your Ship!

ff587688d8b4e5073867b45e0c86eef21443033172.png

We’re looking for dedicated Captains to assist with the construction of our latest ship! Over the next two months, the team will be designing a new Federation Carrier with the help of players like you. Your votes will determine what ship is built! You’ll choose what your ship looks like and ultimately see your ship come to life as we continue updates until the ship is released!

Our Corps of Engineers have been working around the clock to deliver you possible schematics for the new Carrier. These designs will be pitted against one another in a single-elimination voting tournament.

Stay tuned Captains! Starting tomorrow September 24th, we’ll open up the voting tournament on Twitter, Facebook and our Forums!

Vote Omega, make it look like the Jupiter Class. I see Gamma as the only other viable choice for a carrier. Alpha and Delta are Science Vessels, Sigma and Epsilon are escorts, and Beta and Theta are cruisers.

Edit: Not saying I dislike the others (except Omega and Gamma) just they don't look like carriers to me, still lovely though.

Also, Trendy, is this your project? Because its a bloody good idea from where I'm sitting.

Edit: I wonder that if this is successful it could be used to community design a KDF SCI ship.

I think most peoples problem with the Jupiter are the under sized nacelles and the height between the two hull sections.
Omega (and possibly Gamma) fix both whilst keeping the same general shape and style of the Jupiter.

Edit: This would be the sort of revamp for the Typhoon I would't be opposed to. Rather than just replacing them with the Excelsior ripoffs Command Cruisers.

^ I thought that at first, but that's unfortunately the top-down view of the thing.

    Regardless, my body is ready.

Would anyone have enough computer modeling skills to show these skins as possible ships? I'm leaning one of two ways because most of the other entries just don't look like Carrier designs.

Also, Trendy, what all will we get to choose eventually in this? I'm assuming BOFF seating and console(s) are ready and we're more designing the looks of the ship.

Yeah, I was gonna say: to the people constantly clamoring for a playable Jupiter class:
this is your time to freaking shine.
Whether the ship ultimately winds up being called "Jupiter" is besides the point. The Omega design is clearly an updated Jupiter class.
That being said, honestly, other than the Omega class, the only ones that catch my eye are Alpha and Delta. Epsilon isn't too bad, I suppose, but it lacks a certain appealing quality that the others have.

I honestly got a little excited when I read "Federation Carrier" been waiting for something like this for some time.

The "Design Your Ship!" aspect of it is a nice thick layer of icing on that cake! :p

Hehe, I am all out for the omega design, it is the closest we will ever get to t6 Jupiter class. :D

But how about accepting three more runner-up designs so we can choose which parts we want to use? This could also lower the dissapointment if my desired design isn't chosen.

My Favorites are Theta, (new-ish Typhoon)
    and Omega (new-ish Jupiter)

Can we all agree on one thing? No Matter what ship is Chosen it should be named the Pantheon class in honor of all of @LaughingTrendy's Hard Work!

Question is this, are these ships the ONLY ones we to pick and choose from?

I don't like the look of these.

And also, what about KDF and Romulans?? Just another ship they miss out on here? Or is this ship to replace the old Odyssey ship in the T6 and be more of a Flagship?

Any way we can get back to some basic Constitution-class designs, specifically when it comes to the saucer section being circular as well as having only 2 nacelles? Also, can we ditch the orange and blue colors and get back to the some traditional red and blue?

I imagine that, yes, these are the only designs to choose from.
I doubt these are going to replace the Odyssey class as anything, really, considering these designs are for carriers and Odysseys are starcruisers; the Enterprise-F as flagship is going to stay that way as it was only comissioned (in game time) a year or so ago.
I also suspect that, much like the "Design the Next Enteprise" contest, Cryptic will be picking the designs for any analogous KDF and RRW designs themselves, to save time and frustrations. Though I imagine that the KDF will simply get a new T6 Vo'Quv class, with a BOff layout to match or mirror whatever the new Starfleet carrier gets.
Dunno about the Romulans. Their ships almost always seem to be incredibly hybridized, so it'd be surprising to see them get a full carrier any time soon.

I love the Beta profile, but I'm less crazy about the top-down view. The saucer is too much like a horseshoe crab, somehow. Narrower would suit my tastes, I think. But I like the dual nacelles. I think we've got enough quad nacelle designs for now. I also really love the Theta design, but it doesn't fit a carrier, to me.

If I had to choose between that list only, I would go Sigma. You want a small ship when fighting.

So are the KDF getting a new carrier to go alongside this? Or are are we going to get the short end of the stick yet again? After all KDF were the origional Carrier users and it would seem a complete kick in the unmentionables if the Feds were to get a T6 carrier and the KDF dont.

i see cryptic seems to have forgotten the lessons of '12 and the 'design the next enterprise' contest already

although, maybe not...if the designs are all coming from cryptic, maybe they can avoid what happened with the enterprise

Remember though, that they maybe looking to revamp the flagships up to T6. And to bring it on par with the Romulan Flagship it would need carrier setup or some other method of combination of hybrid seating to make up for that aspect. And making a new Flagship used in place of the current Enterprise could be this goal here.

I don't find that likely mind you, but in a way it is ALWAYS possible. The T6 variations could be where they equalize the 3 flagships.

Command Cruiser designs were inspired pretty heavily by the Typhoon. In fact, in Mirror Universe DSE's, MU Command Cruisers still use the Typhoon model, though I imagine even those will be phased out soon enough and use the Geneva, Concorde, and Presidio models.

Ok after more careful consideration here's my personal analysis, everyone feel free to jump on board with your own.

Epsilon, Theta, Omega - the Least appealing to me in order from downright ugly to tolerable.

Alpha, sigma - beautiful concepts, especially Sigma I would love to see it as a carrier or some sort of science ship!

Beta, Gamma, Delta - Some of the most interesting concepts I've seen in ages! I like each of them in their own way and would love to see all of them in the game! Beta could use some slight reshaping on the saucer section to make it more visually appealing but I like the basic concept. Gamma would be my personal choice, reminds me of the Nova baby carrier from Star Trek: First Contact.

Hey @trendy can we pick the top three concepts and have them all used like in the old days? Pretty please! ☺️

Edit: Alpha would make a nice T6 skin for the reconnaissance science ship!

Epic idea for some community involvement, well done on that side of things!

As for the designs, i'd like to see getting back to the traditional Trek style so less weird shaped hulls etc. That said though I do thing Omega or Beta look the most promising at this stage.
One thing I really dislike is having different sized nacelles on a ship, some of the command cruisers are like that and I see it in several here.

This thing needs to maintain the sleek federation lines like the traditional ships but be bulky and like some massive whale at the same time. I'd love to see an open flight deck like the Vesta variants can have.
