sorry i freaked out a little there. five reinstalls, several other attempts at a fix, and still the same fatal crash at the end each time for something i had nothing to do with. lets just say its a tad aggravating
i started using sto under ARC but would like to switch to Steam if i can so that i dont have to use ARC at all
can i do that AND without starting over on characters?
thanks
Yes - that should go without hassle. Both Steam and Arc are just 'library platforms' for games - they utilize basically an built-in quickroute to launch the game you want to play and gather them in a neat overview. The launcher itself of the game and the executable should be the same, and the data regarding the characters etc is taken of the servers of Cryptic which doesn't differentiate between origin platforms of the launchers (Arc, Steam, local PC without platform, etc).
Hope this answers your question
Howdy again,
Well server is up and I am still getting this on Iconion War Logo and crashing going on 2 days now I am starting to get frustrated with this issue. Hope you all get this fixed ASAP!

I have no problem with crashes and stuff, the game plays, it just fails due to tremendous lag.
When patching, the patch goes ridiculously slow, like being on a 56k dialup connection (I actually have a 4 Mbps aDSL).

Also, the game (when I manage to get in and play) is unbearable due to lag. Sector space, user interface, and chat works relatively OK (it's laggy, but not problematic). Space battles are impossible, I press a hotkey and the game responds roughly 30-40 secs later. Haven't managed to test ground yet.
I keep getting that infuriating Oops! message every time the launcher tries to patch, anyone got any ideas? (Or am I, in my limited understanding having the exact same issues as everyone else?)
Howdy,

mind you ; if this bug leads to me being unable to complete the DR-event ( the Breen map crashes on me, that's the final bit in the entire event !! ) it will probably mean uninstall of STO ,never to look back ( and I've invested quite a lot of cash in this game throughout the years )

Well, still getting the same fatal error message as yesterday so the patch didn't work for some people.
Pretty sad when they release new content and not only is it bugged but people can't even get on to see anything.
Anyway, after I tried the "Safe Mode" option I got back into STO. Give it a shot if you're still having problems because it works. Thanks whoever first mentioned this option.

Well it worked in safe mode lastnight, but now it doesnt
Pretty sad when they release new content and not only is it bugged but people can't even get on to see anything.
Anyway, after I tried the "Safe Mode" option I got back into STO. Give it a shot if you're still having problems because it works. Thanks whoever first mentioned this option.
