Question here, where in the show did they define Voyager as a science ship? How do we know it wasn't a cruiser of some type (likely Light).
I know it's the classification this game gives it but I've always felt that if the Galaxy is a battleship (in Navy terms) then the Intrepid is a cruiser or destroyer (Navy terms)

I don't recall any specific time that they defined it as a sci ship, but I think everyone assumed that it was since it seemed to have very sci-focused abilities (e.g. advanced sensors, advanced computer, etc.). Given that William Ross's flagship during the Dominion War was an Intrepid-class, and that Voyager's intended first mission was a combat mission, I think it was supposed to be kind of like a light cruiser with advanced science abilities.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.

The novelization of Star Trek the Motion Picture flatly stated that the Enterprise could be called a Battleship/Dreadnought, but that the Federation naming convention avoided such warlike terms and listed it as a Heavy Cruiser instead, then dismissed that as incorrect and said that Exploration Vessel was a better classification.
Shrug.
But I agree, the Intrepid class came across as a Destroyer and a no frills one at that.
We don't even know if it was a successfully and widely used ship due to the nature of its "lost in space" show. It could have a been a failed design with only a few ever produced. Or a ship type widely used for patrol and other short range duties.

I know that's not what Star Trek calls them. I was just drawing from my time in the US Navy.

I bought an Eclipse Intel Cruiser and thought that might be it for a long while but I might be coaxed in getting the Andromeda. Might wait out to see if they'll do another Sovreign but who knows.
It's time to meet the latest state-of-the-art iconic ships! The Tier 6 Adromeda, NegH"Tev, and D'khellra are launching with Delta Recruitment this Thursday!
...
Also, where does it say that you need to be at 1/4 impulse to broadside? I can quite effectively use any one of my cruisers outfitted with beams and torpedoes at full throttle.
...
...
As for the quarter impulse...that'll kill off some of a cruiser's defense and make it a less effective tank than it could be. If you have to slow a criuser down to 1/4, I'd contend you're not flying/building it right.
Have to agree.
I fly almost exclusively cruisers, and a couple sci / sci-focused ships. I don't even bother broadsiding - I use DBBs, and all manners of 360 weapons at the rear. And I'm up and down on the throttle all the time, pulling my ship through tight corners.
All types of ways to fly a cruiser. They're versatile ships.
So....When is the KDF going to get a Dreadnaught? How about making a dreadnaught version of the Negh'nvar now that you have updated it?
How is it that the aggressive warlike shooty faction not have a Big Ship of Doom, but the "we come in peace" and the steathy space bunny hugger factions get one?
While I'm not going to be buying any of these myself, I'm very glad to see them, on behalf of those who I know have been asking for them (for some time).
Not that the T6 Galaxy is most welcome, a T6 Fed Escort (probably based on the Defiant) is due more than another Cruiser.
Excluding non-Faction and Lock box ships, at T6 the Feds have:
1 Escort (Phantom)
Now 4 Cruisers (Eclipse, Guardian, Command and Andromeda)
3 Science (Scryer, Dauntless and Pathfinder)
I hope for a Pilot Ship 3 pack centred on an escort and its 3 variants (Tactical, Engineering and Science) and then as part of the iconic series the Defiant, BoP and T'Varo pack.
Seconded, we need some TAC ships, Maybe the Escort is just too small to be viable-fine, give us a Destroyer then.....something that can maneuver a lot better than a cruiser.
Right now I am NOT shelling out money until the ships and Comander/Intell/Pilot all syncho up a lot better. Your Carachter and Ship departments are out of synch and getting worse. Stop farming ship revenue for a while and focus on maybe altering the format for a bit.
IDEA FOR YOU! Instead of whole new ships, maybe come up with "Bridge Modules" and make Command, Pilot, and Intell versions...... Moduilar Bridges are nominally canon, and it would alowe an older ship to use a bridge module. The ship tailor seems to have some of the wiring already installed for that mechanic......... Your ship graphics guys can now shift their focus to inside/outside design of these modules, and also maybe come up with interiors to gi with each module plug-in.........
The Universe is a messy place, You are born a mess. Sustaining life usually involves cleaning up messes. You die and usually are a mess then too. All of these messes usually involve some blood- get over it.
is the Andromeda going to be included in the galaxy bundle?
I think not.... too bad
Still, if the devs would want us to still buy older ships, they should make the consoles on new shiny T6 to be a sets with the older ones.
Heck - it would be enough for me if the Andromeda could use Galaxy set (Saucer separation, Cloak, Atnimatter spread - the last one is not ship type locked - i know)
It would be great if the new consoles would make sets with some older - unliked ships consoles
(and people would whine more about needing to put more money to the game :P )

If it's like the Pathfinder or New Bugship, that'll be exactly it. If not a new set bonus, then at least it'll be able to equip the other Galaxy consoles.
UGH!!! we finally get T-6 iconic ships and what are some of the first posts i see?
B%^ching and complaining about how there are other ships more iconic or why not this other ship....seriously cant y'all be happy? we just got 3 new T-6 iconics.
This is something i thought would NEVER happen and yet here it is
I for one say thank you cryptic nice work they look sweet
Looks good. Maybe I'll get the T6 D'Deridex depending on how my dilithium supply and zen stipend looks. If not now, I'll wait till it's on sale.
I do believe that buying the same ships we already own again is ethically questionable, but the playerbase has apparently spoken and made it loud and clear that they don't care.

I know, eh? Cryptic can do anything, and players will complain about it. Like everything, it's damned if they do, damned if they don't. No matter what this company does, it's apparently terrible... And then when they do what several players have asked for in this very forum, it's still somehow a terrible thing? Just scroll through the recent forums in General or the Federation Shipyards - more T6 ships is what a lot of players have been asking for, specifically T6 versions of existing Trek ships.
But why the sudden outpouring of hate for it now? Why, the moment we get some T6 variants of classic ships, are at least half of the posts in the thread whining about things? Silly things like how terrible the stats are (without even seeing them yet), how it's somehow the 'continued death' of T5 ships (which is false - T5 / T5-U is still great at end-game, and will be for a long time), how it's invalidating players' previous purchases (seriously, to anyone who complains that... did you really expect a free T6 upgrade? Why and how did you come to that conclusion?), or how these ships aren't 'iconic' enough (just because it's not your favourite ship, doesn't mean it's not someone else's - your ship might just be around the corner).
That all said, this is great stuff Some love for all factions, great re-envisionings of iconic ships from the TNG-era, and even some freebie updates to older ship textures.
You know what's great? Taking the D'Deridex and making it even scarier.
...okay, now I'm feeling that D'khellra design. Looks cool as heck, especially those nacelles. I'll probably still match parts with the original D'deridex, though.
And the more I see of the Andromeda, the more I love it. I didn't expect to love it this much, as it looks a little too harshly angular to be a Galaxy variant, but... dang. This may just be my third favorite of Cryptic's original Fed ship designs, behind the Guardian and the Avenger.
The Negh'Tev is kind of meh, though, tbh. The "saucer" looks a little too round to fit with the rest of the design. Easily fixed in the ship tailor, of course, but still.
This actually follows what I had suggested in a previous thread like a month ago so it makes me happy. Now I just wish they'd do it for all the iconic ships especially the ones from the show (and all the other Enterprises.)
I'm not a big fan of the Galaxy, don't hate it either and it's a good ship, but it still deserves the love it's getting for being such an integral part of Star Trek. Glad to see the works being done on it and the Klingons/Romulan ships as well.
Though I'll say I'm lucky...I only ever bought a single T5 ship and that was the Tac Vesta (Aventine) and got the upgrade pack for it...so it's as close to T6 as a T5 ship can really get and it performs like a dream. Now I can just wait for more T6 ships to hit the street and get the ones I want :P
Hoping they'll keep doing it in 3's like they did this one so each faction can get some attention. Also looking forward to what I can make the ships look like with all the previous ship customizations. Love the Andromeda looks but might swap out the Gal's nacelles.
These look great and all but it would be nice to be able to get some of these T6 ships thru lvling. I am beginning to hate this game anymore because you work your butt off and lvl up your toons and last last ship you get is at lvl 40, been almost 20 lvls now my toons still flying the lvl 40 ships, not everyone can afford to buy things from the c store.

Yeah at one time this game was sort of fun to play it used to not be about the next new platinum or gold ship that is coming out. Although if you spend time in the doff system to exchange for currency you'd just need to slowly work up a KDF assembly line from marauding. I haven't spent any money on this game since like 2011 back when it was subscription based. Although only reason I got my assembly line working again is that T6 negh'var lol.
As well though I wish they had buffed up science ships, engineers, and bird of prey/raiders before S10 launches though. I mean imo they do better at making KDF ships than any other faction as far as how they look. I do really like how they have been doing ship releases where each faction gets something.
I wouldn't doubt it though if we do get advancements in those areas that have been weak for years if we got some kind of cross faction raider. Kind of like how we got those dyson ships which could easily be explained that the federation and the romulans found during dominion war that they needed a faster and smaller vessels with a lot of teeth but "insert pro raider propaganda in blog" due to status of various factions in the alpha/beta quadrants the projects dwindled down to being not viable until this iconian war starts up and they need raiders to perform certain kinds of missions.
for the love of god if you repeat the T5 gal mistake and have 3 engie seats with 1 lt tac seat i will eat all of your mini wheats
AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE T4 NEGH VAR
yup, thats what i also said before,
if the New Versions of those Iconic Ships have not a Lt Commander Tactical OR a Lt Commander Universal ( where we can Put a Tac and others what ever they want) than, i will KEEP my Money, no one, NO ONE needs a Frigging Ship with 3 of the Same Stations ( like Intrepid with 3 Science Stations, Defiant with 3 Tactical Stations or Galaxy with 3 Engineering Stations) Ships have to be Flexible, if it was for me EVERY C-Store / Lockbox Ship should have its Lt Commander being a Universal, there are so many Ships i would love to Buy / Use BUT will NOT get because of the Stupid TO Restricted Layouts.
And yea the T4 Negh'Var IS a Joke, one of the Klingons MOST Powerfull Ship Turned into a Lousy Heavy Tanky Ship *FAIL*
PLEASE PLEASE Dont do those same Mistakes with the New Ships, dont Turn them into TRIBBLE when they look so NICE :eek::eek:

3000 zen+ fleet module (for whenever the foreshadowed fleet T6 comes out) is a lot to consider when I already have a T5u Fleet D'deridex.
Neat that the Neghvar variant is appearing though.
