I'm looking forward to seeing the skins and make some changes. Other than that, all I will do with them for now.

    Very cool news.
    I love the D'Dex design.
I hope the galaxy is as potent as the Benthan at least.

Thank you for the update to the Galaxy model! I hope those updates will carry over to the Galaxy X as well. That T6 Romulan ship is damn sweet lookin'! That just might be the first Romulan ship I buy. Great work! :)

Trendy you tease. Give up the goods. Tell your art department to hurry up and finish my T6 Defiant. And make the nose cone a big warhead like in the DS9 guide. I'll even name it after you if you crack the whip on the boys for me.

Yah, and people in that position certainly know how to budget and plan. Take the same approach with Dilithium, let some young single TRIBBLE with a disposable income buy the zen that gets you the ship. You give them less grinding. You get shinies without having to try to guilt cryptic into not releasing content.

The Romulan ship looks like it has that pink hull issue so many of the ships have.

Oh, the ol' 1701-D is looking mighty sexy. They finally figured out the stripes down the spine of the stardrive too.

I'll need to see the stats before I lay down any cash for these, but my interest is piqued.

Good to see more skin/model options for both the Klingons and Romulans, too.

Kind of funny my post of the extra images are now ahead of Trendy's, due to topic merging. I guess it's evident I need to create a DR alt and fulfill my role as a Temporal agent of sorts.

Anyway, posting for convenience of others:

    Costume means ship model.

As players, we would consider the ship "costumes" as skins - the dev(s) writing the post probably used that as a placeholder, unless it was intentional.

Thnx but, I wish they would use a different name for them!

Ship skins, ship appearance and, not costumes!

I mean, these ships aren't dressing up for Halloween for cripes sakes!

So basically so are saying that its ok that we have to choose a style of game we dont enjoy playing?

if you like broadsiding and being like a pebble in space go ahead,i dont have nothing against that, there lies the liberty and having the right to decide which way i want to play.

Now it just seems that Cryptic wants us all to fly slow, chunky cruisers.../yawn
Blame it in Cryptic, why were people using the Tactical/escort combo? maybe because they were at fault when they released the game,if you get higher dps and if you're smart and you can survive why fly a slower much less op vessel?

Blame them, they are the ones that forgot the holy trinity in this game, seems like its there but in the end there isnt one...yeah cruisers=tanks? nah escort will do fine, science=heals? nah escort will do fine.

So again, apart from the fact that i get bigger numbers with my escorts i love the way i need to keep on my toes and move around, not just be at 1/4 impulse and broadside and broadside until i just log out from pure boredom...

Prior to stuff like the command cruisers and cruiser comm arrays, in the days of "escorts online", people were being shunted into a dps-centric playstyle they may not have liked or enjoyed...the overarching cycle is now turning the other direction. Heck, for me personally, DR turned it back into "dps or die" with the DQ meatbag enemies and stf changes. I gave up my 9k Bastion that got 1st virtually everytime in Crystalline for a 20k+ Nicor just to stay afloat. As for cruisers being boring, try stacking threat in the skill tree/from embassy consoles/from cruiser commands and using some aoe to draw attention...it's how my tac toon now takes 1st in crystalline via self-healing all the incoming dmg.

Wait a minute, this sounds like the exact opposite of what most people keep saying about Cryptic hating us and trying to kill the game ... <looks at tomorrow's date> ... guess April fools came early :(

...did you really, FINALLY fix the Galaxy model!?

By the great bird I may have to dust off my Fed toons if it is true. Also T6 Galaxy, Negh'var and D'deridix...you have pandered to the fan boy in my soul, kudos.

At least until you find out that the T6 Galaxy features 3 Ensign Engineering Slots! (Or something just as ridiculous)

Might want to proceed with caution is all I'm getting at.

Are they saying that you MUST buy a new cruiser ship to play the game? The answer to that is NO, however the devs are answering the many players who wanted a higher number of cruisers that are playable at endgame. More escorts will come, but they aren't going to give them overnight.

Once again, I say that you do NOT HAVE TO BUY THE ICONIC CRUISER PACK TO PLAY THE DAMNED GAME! *facepalm*

Also, where does it say that you need to be at 1/4 impulse to broadside? I can quite effectively use any one of my cruisers outfitted with beams and torpedoes at full throttle. As well as this, you seem to think that an escort can hull tank quite perfectly (which is where cruisers excel), and an escort group can heal themselves much better than having a dedicated science vessel shield/hull healer. Apart from the "slower, much less op vessel", beams are far better than cannons ever were unless you have a hit-and-run escort built with a full set of cannons.

So excuse me for being the argubly-smarter player and sticking with what should have been the better off choice in terms of survivability.

I think the point plasma was making is that escorts can do well enough for the content that's here...which is on the shoulders of the people making that content. That said, escorts do have less recourse should their damage-based strategies fail, and that's where someone with a few more points in healing skills comes in. As for the quarter impulse...that'll kill off some of a cruiser's defense and make it a less effective tank than it could be. If you have to slow a criuser down to 1/4, I'd contend you're not flying/building it right.

I find this post, mixed with your sig line, confusing. By the way, it should read "Better dead than Fed." The way it reads now, it sounds like you'll come back as a Fed in the afterlife...

That's all good and nice, but what about the Negh'Var and Vod'Leh? those are definitely worthy of a hi-res screenshot.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

I have a question regarding the galaxy class models. In the blog you guys state that the new model will replace the old model galaxy. The way I read that it means that it will automatically update to the new model and be similar to the andromeda class. my question is this, will we be able to make it look like the old school galaxy if we still wish to do so? I saw something about being able to use the old parts but can you clarify that a bit more?

they mean they are updating the regular Galaxy to look more like it did in the show. it will still look like a Galaxy class, but better, like the updates to Voyager

    except Wes isn't in starfleet.

however, bringing him in as a TRAVELLER...maybe we get stuck in a mess between him and John DeLancie (both pretty much omnimpotant beings)

    THAT would be interesting.

You know if they released content at the rate the pushed disposable ships on us this game would be brilliant. This game is like a master test of impulse control. "Here buy this new ship!" "Now buy this one!, now buy this three pack!!"

People have a hard enough time putting food on the table these days, or keeping the lights on. We don't have the cash to blow on a video game. One ship in STO is like the price of a tank of petrol in the U.S.
I'm not happy that some ships have to be bought on the C Store. I might not be able to afford it. It creates two classes of players, which is unfair. I recommend removing ships from the C store, and making them free.

so...how do you advise that they make money, without charging money? they charge for ships, but the game itself is free. you don't have to pay anything. but they want you to buy this stuff, yeah, but again, explain to me how the company is supposed to make money without charging someone something.

unless you want to watch ads in the loading screens or something.
    COMMERCIAL BREAK!

    yeah.....no. big time no.

    Keep making ships Cryptic! :)
