@schmedicke T5-U is meant to be for those people who don't find the Tier 6 ships appealing for whatever reason. What gives you the idea that the ships are the same? Because they have a similar look? I tell you now, the T5 Galaxy was "the same" as the T4 Refit - it just came with a fancy console that we all saw in the TNG series.
We don't know what the stations are, or what the rest of the stats are like - quit your jibba-jabba and put up with it.
Then what would you call this. Reselling us the ships we upgraded for DR to then go buy the T6 versions of the same ships for DR? Cash grab. I wont be rebuying these ships for DR.
something they've always done...remember T5 ships and Fleet ships...
no one is required to buy them.
Your pain runs deep.

T5U upgrades are $5 and can be bought on the exchange for about 9 million EC. They have statistical parity with T6 ships - they're the bargain approach to bringing your favorite ship to T6 parity, and nearly all previous top-end ships are available at T5U.
T6 ships are $30 (usually available in packs that reduce that price) and have specialty BOff slots (though some have a very difficult time using them - I'm looking at you, Pathfinder!), ship traits, and come with new consoles.
Honestly? $5 or a few million EC to play your favorite ship at T6 parity until Cryptic finishes development on the T6 version doesn't seem that bad.
It's time to meet the latest state-of-the-art iconic ships! The Tier 6 Adromeda, NegH"Tev, and D'khellra are launching with Delta Recruitment this Thursday!
Please tell me the Andromeda class will be released to peaple with the galaxy bundle... If we wasted 40$ on the bundle it would be nice if we got the Andromeda class too...
And it would be much, MUCH, better if the design of the Andromeda was released to the Galaxy-X Dreadnought class...

Especially since they certainly could have said: "Here are the wonderful new uber-powerful T6 ships! Now you can throw away all those clunky old T5s and buy brand new ships! Limited time 0% financing available for those with good credit!"
Seriously, they knew when the T6s were brought out that tons of players would be up in arms about the T5s they were invested in. The upgrade path is just there to ease the transition.

Meow, this is great news! Finally a Tear 6 variant of the best ships ever of each of the three main races. A new Galaxy model, wow! A new Negh'var also! Maybe we will even see an update of the D'deridex model (coloring).
My question now is: Will we see iconic interiors for the new ships as well (just like the Intrepid and Defiant one)? That would be so great, at least for the Galaxy of which exists so many blueprints and interior layouts. D'deridex and Negh'var would be a bit more vague though.

Personally the Galaxy and all it's variants have no visual appeal... I remember the horror the first time I saw TNG and that grossly disproportionate vessel was on screen *shudders*
Personal tastes aside, I hope this trend continues and all the iconic ships get T6 treatment... I'm waiting for the Sovereign... though I'm guessing next will be the Defiant Fed side...
One other thing... while the work that goes into the art for these new ships is respected, I'd be willing to sacrifice the art to just get the T6 functionality sooner using the existing fleet assault cruiser models. I'm just wanting the boff seating and better stats that make up T6.
Not buying UNLESS it has BOTH Intel and Command boff slots....and they better be at least LT, we don't want an ensign slot for the specailty boffs. If not 2 slots then at least one for the Intel/Command and a univeral (LT or higher) that will allow the Intel/Command boffs to use their special traits. Tired of paying for ships that never have what I need, when I need. So get with it...chop chop. Times a wasting!!!
On thing I would like to say about these ships is the previous versions of the federation and romulan ships both come with a 2 piece console set that should be able to be applied to the tier 6 version, however the klingon ship does not have any console set. A Negh'Var refit with a console or two should at least be added to make up for this. Also the new the new tier 6 console should be able to be an addition to the 2 piece sets many players have already purchased so that it can become a 3 piece console set with the tier 6 ships.
I also think that the Andromeda class should be a Dreadnaught version with the option of having a thrid warp nacelle or not since many players wont want to give up their Fleet galaxy dreadnaughts for the new tier 6 ship And both the klingon and romulan counterparts should both be given something equivalent to the phaser spiral lance to make things more even.
Also if they had a more versitile selection of bridge officer station it would be nice since the current ships are a bit too engineering focused . Perhaps able to slot at least 3 tactical and 3 science bridge officer abilities and have a universal bridge officer slot of some kind too (aside from whatever slot might be a hybride commander slot that is).
This thread is very long and I did read through some of it so I don;t know if this question was asked... but for the Andromeda, since its T6, will saucer separation be an integrated ability or will we have to grab the console in order to use it?

I was considering the bundle but I don't think I'd actually use the T6 Negh'Tev nor T6 DKhellra. For me it's also a bit washy if I'd use the Andromeda as I generally prefer the Sovereign over the Galaxy in terms of style.
I have more Fed toons than Rom or Klingon (imagine that,) and can see them ending up in different ships like the Qib and well....not sure I really care about any t5+ ship for my Romulan (had been considering the Engi variant of their command cruisers but might wait.)
Also, I have the Eclipse and Aventine for Fed ships so buying into anything right now that I might not really use (since I'm usually for sci heavy ships, eclipse was for my Engineer for fun,) makes it hard to justify getting it. Nice looks though, and it's awesome to see the option for a T6 Galaxy.
Not confirmed, though it is extremely likely that the precedent that the Pathfinder set will be maintained, thus the consoles from lower tier versions of the ship will be useable on the T6 variant.
The Saucer Separation console now says "any exploration cruiser variant or starfleet dreadnaught variant" so, they future-proofed it as well as made usable on the new ship (probably).

The novelization of Star Trek the Motion Picture flatly stated that the Enterprise could be called a Battleship/Dreadnought, but that the Federation naming convention avoided such warlike terms and listed it as a Heavy Cruiser instead, then dismissed that as incorrect and said that Exploration Vessel was a better classification.
Shrug.
But I agree, the Intrepid class came across as a Destroyer and a no frills one at that.
We don't even know if it was a successfully and widely used ship due to the nature of its "lost in space" show. It could have a been a failed design with only a few ever produced. Or a ship type widely used for patrol and other short range duties.
Indeed the Klingons referred to the Enterprise refit as a "Federation Battlecruiser". And a heavy cruiser pretty much is a battlecruiser.
Only with the Galaxy did we see the Explorer label come in vogue, though it could've been as far back as the Excelsior.
IDEA FOR YOU! Instead of whole new ships, maybe come up with "Bridge Modules" and make Command, Pilot, and Intell versions...... Moduilar Bridges are nominally canon, and it would alowe an older ship to use a bridge module. The ship tailor seems to have some of the wiring already installed for that mechanic......... Your ship graphics guys can now shift their focus to inside/outside design of these modules, and also maybe come up with interiors to gi with each module plug-in.........
That's actually a great idea. Perhaps add a visual cue to the interior to show that as well.

No, there will be another console to go along with it however.

The galaxy T6, the KDF and Romulan T6 look absolutely beautiful. With all the T6 ships, I find I just don't have $90 to drop on these beautiful designs. Grinding dilithium takes quite a long time (forever?) to get to 3000 zen. At 198 di/zen (the rate I saw on the market last night), that would mean approximately 600,000 dilithium. Considering FTP players can only harvest 8k a day, thats a 3 month grind for only one ship, and I usually don't manage to get to 8k per day. Maybe they'll have a big sale?
Possibly, though I imagine that if it's anything like previous ship sales, it will include everything except their latest release. Realistically, look at the bundle instead of buying a single ship, since that's usually the best when it comes to value for money over buying the ships individually.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.

I tend to have to wait for ship sales due to needing my dil for other things still as I'm a newer player. Trying to balance dil income and using it for upgrades is difficult. I've only bought one ship with actual money because I felt it appropriate for the time I've invested in STO.

Sure but isn't dil to zen conversion account wide or per character?
... it will be interesting to see how & which promotion will be boosted by the Escort 3 ship bundle that they no doubt have in the making / planning stage ...
Patrick did make a fascinating point about how the thinking goes for putting such ships together, i.e. using in game stat precedents. What I'm left wondering after seeing arguments for and against the "iconic" nature of this ship bundle is which ships would be in an escort bundle other than the defiant...surely in order to get an escort for each faction, they'd still have to draw more from the game than on-screen material?

Hello, while I humbly respect your opinion Megacharge as we all have our own, it is my opinion that the Scimitar doesn't need a T6 version. It's still the highest DPS'ing ship at T5U for *PVE* content.
Also I, personally, feel that the Vegence was the epitome of underwhelming and uninteresting, just my opinion though.
Fixed that for you. If you ever want a reality check, take a "Scimitard most OP ship in the game" to kerrat or PvP queues and see how average we can make it look.
That aside, yes we all have our opinions, however you don't seem to play the game like I do or enjoy it in the same way I do which is evident as per our differing wants and opinions regarding these ships. You don't think the game needs these ships, and I do, especially more so than yet another round of cruisers with a trait I'm sure a lot of people will find is not worth slotting over most of the awesome ones we have now.

Will the D'Khellra get the set piece bonuses from the 2-piece D'Deridex Retrofit/D'Ridthau console set? I'm assuming yes?
Looks like I am buying my 1st ship pack in game.

That is cute. I personally love Starfleet theme naming, like all Danube class runabouts being named after Earth rivers.
Sovereign class' successor is the Noble class, etc.
No, there will be another console to go along with it however.
The pics are great, but we need stats.
Tested using the free Level 40 Negh'Var.
The updated Galaxy is not, however.

T6 treatment might come to a few of the ships Val listed, but we can only imagine the outcry if it came to most/all of them, i.e. all fed ships.
The last 2 sales included the latest releases.
