I think Cryptic is making a bad call on this.

I think it is their mistake they did not alter Tau Dewa before Delta Rising.

I think because it was their mistake and lack of foresight, that they should leave Tau Dewa alone since it was their mistake to begin with to have this system in place.

I think by having this 'quarantine' on Tau Dewa, they are railroading people into playing buggy, glitched, not-working-as-intended content because too few people wanted to test it on Tribble, or too few decisions were made on Cryptic's end to act on that feedback.

I think none of our opinions matter, since Cryptic is smart enough to know this is exactly the kind of response they would get in regards to their decision on Tau Dewa.

This is the kind of bonehead game development decision I'd expect out of Gozer. I thought we had evolved past that.

    Apparently not.

Too Few? They chose to paygate Tribble for the F2Pers. Had they left it open and allowed anyone to jump in there like they do any time that doesnt involve an expansion. Theyd have had more.

But I seriously doubt this is due to lack of beta testers and more about pushing a product out the door as fast as possible. Bugs happen. But this piece of **** expansion is more about greed and monetizing every angle of the game.

Theyve shut down an entire Sector Block (besides the Normal Missions and Red Alerts) for no other reason then because something in Japori is messing with their scheme. And their fearful that theyll lose pennies left and right over it.

GUYS LETS KEEP PANICKING BEFORE THEY TELL US WHAT THEY DID TO TAU DEWA AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    j

This isn't Panic, it's Disgruntlement and Frustration at Their actions.

That combined with the NON-Response is also probably causing a fair amount of Ire.

I find this almost funny. It's like an angry kid taking his ball and going home because he doesn't like the way his friends are playing the game. That's you cryptic...wahhh wahh I don't like you getting exp from patrol missions...You need to grind in advanced stfs for garbage rewards as intended. Someone remind me why I'm still playing this game? I really have no idea why anymore.

So, now the word is ...... the REAL reason for the intervention might have been the superior tech upgrades drop and with all the xp farming the amount of tech upgrades being earned was unacceptable to Cryptic.

don't click the link if you're easily offended. I never thought I'd use that link, but this did it.

I understand your frustration, but that kinda stuff can get you bounced out of the forums.

Best to "sock it up" and just post your feelings with words.

Wait until the devs come in and say they're giving us a new episode in 6 months to help out with that, which only gives us a tenth of a level and a half of a ship tier... but they'll spin it that they helped.

Yep the funny thing is they design things thinking their players are mindless zombies(kobali pun) and that we won't see the expansion for what it really is. Which is just another grindfest which D'angelo himself when coming back to the helm stated the game was boring in its current state but yet the elements were just increased rather than decreased. I am sure they will come out stating that he left long before this came out and that they will get onto working on that with the half a level and shield tier spin :)

It'd take a lot less coding and developer labor hours to say, "We screwed up. Sorry, but it is our intention to railroad you into Delta Rising."

I'll be honest if it wasn't for the voyager cast VO's and such I would have stopped playing on day one of this expansion. They had to show the players of this game what it was like being a KDF player back in the day with this expansion rofl.

I mean seriously the whole reason Stahl went about LoR was to go in the other direction of this. Because there was not content enough to get you from level to level. The elite tau dewa just came to be because of their design because even with maxed out gear in new T6 ships fighting the the enemies was like watching grass grow.

The really sad fact about this expansion is it shows the lack of vision. The VO's were nice but everything else was TRIBBLE and it starts out like oh cool rewards and then after that for next 20 fillers its the same thing over and over again. Then after you hit 60 its like okay check out your plan for the next 12 months. You will grind skill points repeating these missions over and over again if the first time wasn't bad enough. When they put the spin on this I hope they add in that the KHG uniforms have gone another year without being fixed as well that the huge loss of players from season 7, 8, and 9/9.5 but mostly from season 7 is so bad if they had opted to take in consideration of player retention instead of the mentality of and I quote "our business model is based on a new player spending 20 dollars where as a veteran player already owns it". So their answer to that was to make someone pay more for a ship they already paid for to make it not even as good as what they advertise now on the arc and sto launcher "The New Standard the Tier 6" lol.

To think they had a whole year working on this expansion and its reduced to a super slow leveling frenzy mixed with... will you grind skill points on your characters for specialization and ship mastery(not to mention that its each ship per character and its not even account wide).

So in retrospect this expansion is just a test by the overlords to see how far they can push the most loyal of players over the edge of not even playing their game ever again.

Totally off topic, but it wouldn't matter. We reported a ton of bugs and gave a ton of feedback on Tribble and the majority of the bugs and issues still made it to live.

It had nothing to do with the number of players on Tribble but the fact that Cryptic either didn't listen to us, or had such a hard deadline they didn't have the time to listen to us.

Either way the result was the same. Delta Rising being as it is today.

Same thing happened when they released LoR. Ton of bug reports, and they released that as well with all the bugs, and then added new ones on top of it.

It's Cryptic, it's what they do.

Regardless of the outcome, if Cryptic has any sense of sense left, they'll read this thread carefully, and understand that ppl are fed up with them pushing the greed envelope. I'm seeing a lot of ppl nearing their breaking-point. And I am one of them.

Lets say they do nerf it, which if what I am suggesting is true would be a perfectly viable solution.

The solution will benefit the whole of sto who want to enjoy the game playing thier way, and not treating the game like a job with the goal of level capping as quickly as possible. I for one could care less about level capping right now, the game and I will be here for a while, I am in no hurry. What I DONT want is to not be able to approach a social zone witout crashing, and the frequency that this has been happening is correlated to the increase of this particular activity. Tau Dewa grinding didnt exactly explode the moment DR dropped, it took a few days to wind up. Since it has, my connection has been crappy in zones that demand a lot of networking bandwidth on their end. I have no reason to believe that it is from my side, because much of the game is free from the lag, and other games have no lag. I play Diablo quite seriously on hardcore mode, so believe me when I tell you of there is the slightest bit of network trouble on my end, I know about it.

It will be unfortunate for those who want to grind, but if every player had their way, it would rain dilithium, and everything would be free.

Seems to be a lot of entitlement going on around here.

Artificially extending content tends to lose you players. This would not be the first MMO who did this switch and lost players.

New Romulus command sustAined heavy casualties during the nerf attack. Word is the military and civilian leaders took refuge in an emergency underground bunker and haven't been heard from since.

I had like 3-5 upgrades while leveling my character from 50 to 60. That's not like it was huge either. Remember, in a 5 people team, you have to roll for them, and you have 1/5 chance to have it.

But considering how R&D and upgrade are their new cash grab, they sure wouldn't want people to grind it for free.

I wasn't group power leveling, but this really hurts those that use it for their Rom MArks since everything outside of Epoh tags sucks for Rom Marks.

No, but i don't often open the chat window. I've been doing mostly the new content.

Franky I just don't get the need to max all this out so fast. I'm sure I will max out the specializations by the time Q arrives anyway. And to me the specializations are not that special. I guess the pilot ship trait is ok for some characters (rock and roll is very fun :)). I may actually not put a single point into intelligence anyway, hoping for a better one to be added.

If this is not a nerf to XP grinding, which if you believe I've got a wormhole from Earth to Qo'Nos to sell you, then the devs need to communicate why they did shut it down.

...So for you chuckle-puppets out there, let the bidding for the Earth-Qo'Nos wormhole begin at 100 billion EC!!!

I think the too many R&D rewards is likely the best reason. More people were getting good ways to good upgrades than they wanted.
