First... where it is right now is fine. I think it's awesome you guys are taking this on and I hope it catches.

Second.. I'm thinking about variety more than cost. I don't have many of my basic tier 5's (level 40's) about anymore. Mirror ships will do the job. Mirror Dhelans and Mogais were a little more but not bad (think 7mill for Dhelan).

I imagine a lot of folks purchased lvl 50 c-stores that can be reclaimed at will. I'm thinking balance on the 9 console plane since we're here. Defiant and MVAE without the consoles aren't any better than a patrol/advanced escort are they? You trade some survivability for some tactical options. Some turn on the defiant for hull?

Again, some of those 9'ers have built in abilities that may go past the plane and induce some unwanted creep. May just take time to figure it out.

It's your pool. Glad y'all opened it. Just some stuff to think about.

edit: I took too long to write. I was responding to Horizon. I see there are more posts now. Ninja'd

Nausicaan boffs add 1.5% damage bonus that's a final mod, that's basically the same as a tac console

Stacking 5 of those is pretty damn good.

If you could show us the math on that, I for one would be super interested to see it.

So far I've been in two 2v2s and they were really good. Pressure and attrition instead of oneshot kills. Choosing one's engine based on its stats and not its set bonus. This is how the game should be.

Please add me @hausofmartok. Just so I'm clear, a mirror T'varo, sans SRO, RO, Infiltrator, etc BOFFS is acceptable?

    Thanks!
Anyone doing matches tonight pacific time?

You're too kind, I did terrible lol.

But, it was fun to put cannons on a B'rel again. Just need to rethink boffs, get used power mgt again, and maybe respec captain skills after playing around w/different builds which is something I haven't done in over a year b/c of grind creep etc (and also fun in itself).

Yea I was in the match have before you joined.

No1 was overly powerful. Fewer heals to toss around. Although we did play with 3 escorts and a brel.

Will be much more interesting if we're able to actually get 5v5 with healers/CCers and damage dealers all in 1. Memories. Of the Seasons long since past.

    That was Fun indeed :D
Everytime my BoP uncloaked the other team starter "klingon alert! Get the klingon!"
Really good matches. Good coordination instead of sub-vape as it is now in premade PvP.

I will try to set up a CC/heals/support Mirror Nova for my sci, something similar to the Vesta I'm using. Let's see what I can do without univs and doffs :)

edit: was in a kitang not a brel :D

... I'm thinking about variety more than cost...

This is an important point for me too. In terms of variety and new challenges as a casual potential VPvPer with no interest in hardcore PvP, the attention-grabber for me was in being able to e.g. crack out the Valdore (T3 Mogai variant) and go up against another player; the point being the interest and difference of it, not in "winning". I've taken out low-tier ships against AI but generally it's just "more of the same" so a friendly VPvP might make this useful, as well as using ships that don't provide "interest-holding power" for long periods at endgame (Oberth vs T'Liss, anyone?).

As I've said before, it's important to note that this channel can be open to various ways to play and so I urge people to not get too closed-off or overly-specific about what should and shouldn't be.

I agree, but so are Human boffs for anti CC like VM it's a bit Fed centric to ban Nausicans, Rommy, but not Human.

I'd also like to protest. Banning Nausiccan offensive space traits for Klingons and KDF Romulans but allowing healing space traits for Federation and Fed Roms is not balanced. ...Especially because there *are no* healing space traits available for KDF.

It's widely held that Romulan SRO was, and still is overpowered, ever since LoR release. And that's not a problem IMO, but to restrict the only space-trait boff besides efficient and allowing healing boffs only for one faction ... It's a bit one-sided.

    Don't you agree?

I humbly and emphatically encourage a rethink on banning Nausiccans because it's not in the interest of VPvP to be a Fed-only club.

Romulan boffs i understand banning; but if nausicaans go, humans got to go too.

Why not just ban all boff space traits?

That's sensitive since kdf can't use nausicaans.
The other space trait that would've remained, beside Leadersip, was Efficient. There aren't that many space traits TBH.

I think all 3 forms of Romulan Operative/Infiltrator banned, Nausicaans, Humans and Saurians stay.

(Declaration of interests - my Vulcan uses a Human and Saurian, and my Klingon a Nausicaan, my Fed-Rom lacks any RO apart from herself, my KDF-Rom has access to, but hasn't commissioned them yet, two Sci ROs.)

I agree; but as it seems , nausicaans already have been banned.

Perhaps we should look at allowing 1 type of boff per ship.

1 doesn't mean much. It's normally the stacking effects that makes something "OP".

guys, just ask Cryptic to implement custom rules games. simple.

And while we wait for a response die of old age?

That. we've tried waiting, it does not work. So, by doing stuff like this, we now take it into our own hands to make STO into what we want to do - Let's face it, Cryptic means well by giving us power creep, but we all know it just creates an unbalanced mess.

By deciding for ourselves what we do and do not use, we create a better game environment for everyone.

It is still early days yet, we are still working out the rules at the moment, but we already have about 10% of STO PvP players at all levels signed up already - I am inclined to think that shows the strength of support for this idea.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone.

The rules will be altered to a limit of 1 human boff per ship and 1 Nausicaan boff per ship. No Romulan Operative or Infiltrator allowed at all still (I'm only allowing Roms in VPvP under strict conditions because they are by nature the most powerful faction).
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Hello, today was my first day in VPVP and there was some good fun matches. Its perfect without uni consoles or lockbox ships.

PS. I am also against the use of rom boffs.
