I just took a look at the Captain Specializations. I don't like what I see. It's power creep, but only this time it's not unslottable like traits and rep.

We need to think up what to do about this.

Well, the Specializations stuff is the level 50-60 progression, so there is no way to avoid it, apart from possibly level 50/level 50-60/level 60 sub-groups within VPvP...

That's why I don't like it. The solutions as it stands right now:

-Ask everyone to not slot specializations.
-Ask everyone to create a dedicated VPvP alt and trust they don't slot specializations.

Neither of those is a very good option.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

Excellent. I'm intending to start off with white gear until I really KNOW what my build needs, then I'll work into blues, since I"ll have a better grasp of WHAT blues to look for. This is kinda like re-learning how to play for me, I missed out on the early days when there weren't any STF sets, so I didn't pick up the necessary build-skills for this.

Which is going to make it rather more challenging for me, since I also haven't run a proper sci/sci build before-but a test ride in a fleet alert made me smile, so I'm betting that going against live players in a few days is going to be frelling awesome even though I'll probably see the respawn button a LOT...

    :D

Sweet you need to test anythin just shout in channel theres a good few people who will help u test your build and refine it til ur happy

Are the Guramba Siege Destroyer or Scourge Destroyer Retrofit allowed?

    both 9 console-layouts - the guramba should be a exception like the b'rel. ;)

Compare for yourselves folks- personally bar the javelin i think garumba and mirror fairly equal and the scourge altho faster is weaker- the javelin isnt a console is it?(i dnt have garumba sadly)

I love the Gurumba, but the Javelin makes it special and a bit problematic for VPvP. Without traits and spire consoles, the crit chance on the javelin will be rather small, so it won't be as powerful as it would be with modern gear, but it's still an advantage over other escorts. I'm really not sure what my opinion is on this.

The guramba javelin is integrated into the ship, not a console. Btw the scourge looks like a regular patrol escort, so id say yes (talk first with voporak tho).

    Shame on you.

    Love my guramba too. :P

I think the guramba should be allowed - the siege mode makes you turn pretty slow and it needs time until you can use the javelin. It's really difficult to hit with it too - it requires skill and timing in my opinion. Isn't that what we want here? Prove your skill without power creep.

Maybe because I am a little altoholic trekkie :P but I don't think creating a dedicated VPvP alt is such a bad idea.
You'll just need to level him up to 50, playing episodes or doffing or via red alerts.
Once you reach lvl 50, you're done, not to mention that in the long run a new alt may always still pay off ( crystalline events, mirror events and so on ) ...
which brings me to a question ...
Max 1 human boff and 1 nausicaan boff and 1 saurian/lethean boff per ship ... but are we talking only about boffs or does that include also captains?
Is a human/nausicaan captain allowed to have another human/nausicaan boff in his crew ?

If you want the nausicaan pirate trait as nausicaan character for example - you have to set it in personal traits and personal traits/all kind of traits are not allowed

To be honest, it doesn't look anything klingon IMHO.

Which given it is a Nausicaan design, is just as well.

pirate is part of the racial trait for nausicaans, not something seperate that has to be slotted, and racial traits can't be removed, so good luck disallowing those

I have 2 dedicated VPvP alt toons, 1 tac & 1 healer, both will remain at lvl 50.

Just wondering because you can Slot the romulan operative on your personal traits as Romulan.

maybe because most nausicaans are pirates but few romulans are operatives?

it would tie in with the fact that all nausiccan boffs have pirate - even white ones, but operative is a rare trait for romulan boffs

Interesting, so having an alien toon actually puts you at a little disadvantage due to not having a racial trait.

Pratically speaking, yes. Btw i think you can't disallow a toon for a racial default not slottable trait, it's his "nature"

Just as a quick FYI everyone who hasn't sorted weapons yet, it is worth considering the [dmg] mod in VPvP - As per the "Please buff [DMG] mod" thread, [dmg] may be a valid choice of weapon mod for your build, as due to our low CrtH and CrtD levels, [dmg] adds more average damage overall.

I know normally it is a junk modifier, but it could be worth an extra 2-12 average damage [dmg] vs [CrtD] per mod. (depends on buffs and stuff)

Just felt everyone should know. :)
