I'm really curious to see how PWE can ignore 142 pages and counting of absolutely unhappy players. Will that unlock Geko insulting the playerbase again? Hopefully not. Will it result in anything changing. Probably not. We all need to keep our money in our wallets and vote that way. Revenue is the only way to ensure they don't make asinine moves like this again in the future.

By your "logic", they should have never sold more than one T5 ship either since the second one would have made the first un-unique. And people kept buying T5 ships.
And that money nonsense again. It's obvious that a business wants to make money, but that just doesn't automagically mean that all ways to do so are good or reasonable.

**All Tier 6 ships launching with Delta Rising will come with a Specialist Bridge Officer seat.
However, it should be noted that future Tier 6 ships may not always come with one.
id feel that future T6 ships could be underhanded with out the specialist bridge officer seat.... vs the ships that will have these....
While I am annoyed with the decision let me come back to a question nobody has yet answered once?
Riddle me this OP, what would be the point of tier 6 ships if you could upgrade tier 5 ships to their level?
I don't know, why do people buy multiple Tier 5 ships?
It's because people WANT to fly that ship. If Cryptic wants people to fly Tier 6 ships, they should make them enticing on their merits, not by obsoleting all the existing tier 5 ships.

If not all T6 ships have the Spec BOFF seat, then they cannot be that important or powerful.

Hopefully the speed and near total negative reaction of this thread will at least make them consider a few changes. Even if it means several more improvements to TU-5, excluding the extra BOFF would I think should remain T6 exclusive.
Why wasn't there this much raging when Fleet Ships were announced? Paying for the same ship again.
Then again that was years ago, maybe there was raging, i just don't remember it.
There was 'some' disquiet but this was an upgrade process that was handled better.
'Most' ships that people flew had a fleet version and could be upgraded to be THE BEST version of a ship out there (not 2nd rate like T5-FU).
The cost of the upgrade was known and reasonable but required 'ALOT' work to get there (fleets needing to get their starbases upgraded). Much disquiet was around the resource/commitment needed to unlock T5 (our kdf base is still T4 so a Fleet Vo'Quv is still out of my reach!)
Information was disclosed all at once rather than dripfed. You knew what you were getting and you know how it compared to what else was going to be out there.
Lockbox ships (pre-lobi iirc) such as the dkora, galor and bug were upgraded (for free) to be the BEST of the BEST (again not 2nd rate like T5-FU).
I am not saying all was perfect.. although the Spire holding helped a little there are still ships out there that we are waiting on a fleet version for (GUARUMBA). But yer, it wasn't an epic fail like this is.
I think ship progression is becoming extremely complicated when we consider T5, T5.5 (c-store), T5.7 (fleet), T5.8 (''T5U''), T5.9 (T5U fleet) and T6. Then the various impacts on account wide and character only unlocks, ship bundles etc.
I'd much prefer to see the upgrading system applied more evenly:
1) All c-store ships (except T1) can be upgraded to T6 with a zen cost (so that the total zen purchase = 3000). This would allow players to captain their preferred c-store ship to any level, variations in boff seating and console layouts.
2) All c-store T6 ships can be upgraded to fleet grade (T6.5) with the purchase of a FSM. This is not a new ship per say, just an upgrade like the zen upgrade is (that unlocks when the character is in the fleet with the right requirements).
3) T5 retrofits from fleet stores and 9 console mirror ships can also be upgraded to T6 with a zen upgrade cost. but not to T6 Fleet/T6.5 (similar to how they are now).
4) All T5 ship bundles are adjusted to be sold as T6 with increased cost, so a 3 ship pack would then cost 6000. Current owners can choose to upgrade the bundle (account wide) to T6.
5) All premier lockbox/lobi/doff pack ships are free upgrades to T6.5 and anniversary/event ships are free upgrades to T6
Summary: everything can be upgraded to T6 with a max total cost of 3000 zen per ship, whether you buy a new T6 ship or a T3 c-store ship that you've upgraded bit by bit. Some of these ships can then be further upgraded to fleet grade and lockbox/lobi/doff pack ships get free upgrades.

Hell no! It'll be a cold day in hell where I pay for the same **** twice. Especially not for MORE than what I paid. You are crazier than cryptic/PWE, and that's saying something.

I think you misunderstand me, if you have a T5 c-store ship that cost 2500 zen now, you pay 500 zen to become full T6 (total invested zen cost = 3000).
Cryptic are currently suggesting that you pay at least that amount to get less than T6, their so called T5U.
Comparing software items to real life items is wrong.Any old real item has a resale value aka you can sell your old mercedes (and quite well I might add) or your old HD TV
I don't see any option to sell back/to others our software items aka our T5 ships.
More the same things were said in another thread and I pinpointed there that costs in producing a real life item are per unit while producing software is one time cost so it is not correct to compare real life items to software products.(Even in accounting there are considered different types of assets)
In this case, though it is comparable. you're not really paying for an item.... you're paying for a service. Adding features to a service to expand it past the service you initial bought costs extra. Simple fact of life. As the influx of money is to pay for services, not items, not software.... SERVICES. You can continue to use your T5 service you purchased, or you can upgrade it to a T5-U service for a nominal fee
PWE doesn't make money by people just logging in and using a service... STO is not adware driven with maintenance being covered by sponsors...... they make money by selling services.

Riddle me this then, I bought the galaxy bundle and 2 fleet galaxy xs for 2 different characters. This occurred, ironically, the day before delta rising was announced. Should I pay more money? Don't answer, I will tell you... NO!
I agree. They are making it way too complicated. They are creating three new tiers of ships, T5-U, T5-FU (:D) and T6.
Really not needed. And if everyone could use some of those exclusive T6 features, they could make more money on lockbox traits etc. (not to mention the ships).

If you want to pay 0 for an upgrade, then no that's not what I'm suggesting. I just don't think cryptic will go for that.

They will never make it free. How would they make any money that way?
Make the upgrade to full T6. It's hard to evaluate the new Boff type without more information though. But I'm pretty sure those will be powerful and very, very monetized. So I guess if they want to limit them to some T6 ships, so be it.

It's not my job to tell them how to make money. It's my job as a player and a consumer to tell them where they have gone wrong. Are they so unimaginative that they can't figure out any other way to make money? It's Star Trek. With the following it has, they will make money. They don't need to nickel and dime us to do it.

I actually don't. Enlighten me
