Something else to consider for future purchases. We've seen what Cryptic / PWE does to older ships. T5U/T6. What's to stop them from doing the same with the next tier of ships, Tier 7? And the tier after that?

Absolutly nothing thats the way they think and we know they think that way. There a business and they need to make money and what better way to do that than to release a new Tier of ships nd charge people for them and also to upgrade there ships. What ticks me off the most is that not all Tier 5 ships are upgradeable (Mirror ships for example)
Guaranteed that if PWE./Cryptic get a good return from this (Which they will so people can remain competitve) They will do it again in later game life as well.

This is how MMOs go... new level cap, your old top end gear is no longer uber cause it's not top end anymore.
Problem with this game thou is that folks buy stuff with real money, course you could grind it out but still depends on folks buying the zen and putting it up on the exchange.
Right now, it seems you buy ships for the consoles T1 to T4 or for ship traits T6...
Once you upgrade the Free Event ship to T5U, the items you could reclaim before are all gone from the Dil Store.
This is on my Fed toon.
Have not upgraded on Klingon and Rom but I would guess they also have the same problem.

Been a known issue since testing started on Tribble. Are you surprised it never got fixed?

I am sorry if this has already been answered, I couldn't find it - why are Mirror Universe ships not upgradeable and is this planned for the future? Thank you.
I hate to point it out, but you dont have to spend money on anything, everything is availble through dil to zen transaction, yes it takes a lot of time to do it that way, but you dont have to spend a dime on this game, just saying

And I'd hate to break it to you that all that Zen on the exchange was purchased with real money.
Someone has to buy it in order to put it on the exchange and it sure as heck isnt PWE.
If everyone stopped buying Zen and you can only find it on the change... it'll be all gone until someone buys it with real money.
It's pay to win, this is how this game is set up. You can choose to pay with real money or pay with your time. "Time is money, friend"
At the end of the day someone is buying Zen for real money so they can get Dil and not have to farm it to play this game. If they get fed up with the bs that PWE pulls and leaves... no more Zen on exchange.

Yes, because spending lots of time to access the new upper tier content is always fun.
By the time you get the new awesome ship/upgrades, there is another set of new things out.
Besides, with the dilihtium to Zen thing you have to focus on that. Meaning you don't spend it on upgrades or other items...
SO all my ships I paid REAL money for are going to be obsolete unless I PAY more REAL Money?....guess I'm done with STO.
Sure, if you're looking at it with that extremely narrow minded view. I haven't even upgraded my ship yet and it its still doing just fine. Besides, you don't HAVE to open your wallet every time you want something. It is possible to actully earn these upgrades, since there is no currency in game that can't be obtained without cash.
To be honest, ever since they have announced back then about Delta Rising and were bragging about it? I've just taken a nice long break from it. You have to think about it this way. They have to make money one way or another. However, for many Silver Members and I can understand their PoV as well being one myself. How much money out of pocket does it take for Perfectworld to be satisfied. For me? It's just a matter of choice. And I chose to walk away from it all. Now that might seem like a bad thing? But it just requires putting your foot down about things like this. Yeah, I love my Fleet HEC, and the work I put into it? I don't mind paying the fee to upgrade it, HOWEVER to craft to upgrade my Fleet Equipment and Reputation Consoles? Forget it! I could be better off to play Star Conflict or any other MMO over something like this. Heck I even wrote a ticket to them about.
But allow me to enlighten something here.............
This kind of thing in level cap? And fee to do upgrades? Is happening everywhere! And the worst part of it all? It's creating the same issue when MMO's first came out and requiring people to shell out money for subscriptions. When that happened? Not many people wanted to play those MMO's, and yes even IT happened here. That's why STO became Free to Play. And all of the sudden? If you make it free THEY SHALL COME! And now this. I love the game for it's fun, and I don't mind some MMO's wanting to make money to keep things going. But, when it comes to upgrading the consoles and equipment on your own? To promote more in the crafting/R&D area? I rather stick to Fleet Projects and save my Fleet Credits and Dylithium for something more worth while as an investment than buy Mark XII and have to upgrade by crafting to XIV. So good luck Perfectworld, you're not getting my money!
