Well that was a nice teaser video.

Cant wait for more blogs in the next weeks.

This next expansion sounds really awesome. :)

My hope is that we get to see, same as there is a BoP landed on a few maps actually, for quite some time, an Intrepid landed on a planet in a ground map. Now that would be a pretty amazing thing to see.

As for the ppl's reactions, relax, put the pitch forchs and fires away and wait for more release info.

no no no, absolutely not, we need MORE pitch forks, more outbursts, more gnashing of teeth, more shouting, fires, sacrifices to Vaal... AND we need to always be right %100 of the time, and "each person" needs to be the only one who is right ... %100 of the time ...

    lol :D

I am very excited, about Delta Rising. I am hoping that the company really looks at the way they do there Zen part of the game, Star Trek as been in my life for more then 30 years and when this game came out I have been with it since Beta testing and I bought the life member when first offered and Have always bought the best part of this game, With this being said I will never give the game up. but these ships and lock boxes are becoming very costly and as a game I know you must make money, but like any other game you really want the stuff to come with it. I have send 20k Zen and not to get a ship just junk is a lot of really money. I just hope you guys really think about this part of the company and those of us that love the game and want the ships there should always be way to get them. I think that was a big problem that World of war carft had you would get a tier set and they would bring out a new one you had to have Elite players to have the best gear, I feel like that's what your doing with the lock boxes but more like Vegas gambling. I really do understand the game has to make money!!! but I think the cost on some of this stuff really could come down a lot and put more fun in the game. I really am looking forward to the new part of the game just not other 3 to 5hundred dollars put out that is the biggest turn off. Thanks

zaafir is right though, i think your drop rate is appalling, it is virtually a lottery, anyone can get "doffs" from a quest, been said since the first cardassian lockbox appeared in game

(still want to play a real ocampan lol :D)

I can't see the Z-Store ships staying at L50. If they did, no one would buy them and PWE would lose money. Same for the Lobi store. The question I have is about lockbox ships. If they don't upgrade those, there is going to be a massive backlash.

I think the implication is that we'll have to manually upgrade them.

I remember similar hate with "my daddy is rich, I have all C-Store ships" (I DONT MEAN ALL OF YOU THAT SPEND MONEY ON THIS GAME) since I started to read this forum (yes I have like less than 10 posts, but I started to read the forum when I joined) on nearly every major release of an expansion or a season. I have a general distrust to players that spend money on this game (sorry to you "good" C-Store players, but having a very bad player with Kumari escort or Scimitar or some insanely powerful Lobi ship in nearly any STF has become an regular sight).

That being said, im excited of this expansion, and I hope Cryptic does everything good they did in LoR (except some BS writing and making of that Romulan Republic, ive always wanted to play as an Romulan Empire captian).

    So, lets summarize:

Federation and klingon flag ships, canon most powerful ships: Scimitar, Vesta and Gal-X are lower tier ship.

Federation best cruiser was built on Risa, and we gave it for free to every faction.

Best escort in the game is going to be 200-year old t6 xindi ship

    Sarcasm :P

Great... Now can we drop the info we already got once, and get some devblogs (Not just testimonials... blogs... DETAILS)
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

If I just have to click a button that's fine. Hopefully they won't be stupid enough to require dil or EC.

the sickness of level based games is "level cap increase" and ppl hopes it will add goodness to game but finds a mess and ****ness mostly.. i would like to see a more "sandbox style" and like "damage to ships" feature, adding damage to moduls and end-game folks would have a real goal to keep playing, instead of ship collections..

and also, i hope you will make it this time and i will have first level cap increase that it wont TRIBBLE in a level-based mmo.. good luck..

Idk about that. This level increase is going to put everyone out there to the rank of "Admiral" which opens up a lot in terms of gameplay. Not that this would ever happen, but say, as a possibility, they put in a system where you could assign a bridge officer to one of the ships you are not currently using and could use an ability similar to Photonic fleet to call it into battle. It would use whatever you equipped on it and it would almost be a second player in terms of strength (but obviously AI smarts). This level cap kinda makes me hopeful for even something remotely similar.

    Cryptic,

I'm really looking forward to Delta Rising, with all the new content for STO. However, the one issue I feel mixed about is the level increase.

Several of us have invested in top of the line ultra rare mk XII fleet gear, or rare mk XII gear of the exchange. This was done believing that such gear was the best you could get, and would be for some time.

The question I have is, could an "upgrade Option" be made, that allows existing captains that have worked so hard for top level gear, not have it worth nothing (or very little) this coming fall?

I'd be very surprised if T5 ships weren't upgradeable through crafting and/or the addition of some mod slots, or through the Fleet Store to bring them in line with T6 vessels rolling out with the expansion.

Cryptic is not going to shoot itself in the foot by making 90% of ships and ship bundles in the Cryptic Store obsolete when expansion launches.
Regarding the bolded part: it's already confirmed to be not happening.

I think when they run out of engaging storylines, then the game as a whole will become obsolete. I doubt the ships will be the death knell first.

What gets me is that the prospect of T6 ships is so earth-shattering to some people. Do folks still own the brick cell phones from the 90's? How about pagers/beepers? No, of course not, most people adapted and bought new ones over time, right? I'm betting many posters happily regularly fork over for new smartphones when they come out, too. Why in the world would a $20 or so ship be a bigger waste to upgrade than a 3-figure phone? They're both obsolete eventually, so they're both money sucks. That's how I see it anyway, not any different in the end.

^^^This. The content in this game is four years old except for the one mission here or there added. Just like anything else new tech evolves and requires us to spend more money or in this case spend money or time. If you still want to fly your old ships then do so but don't be mad because Toyota makes a new SUV that's better than yours from four years ago and don't expect Toyota to give you a free upgrade either.

I don't understand all the animosity about the new level cap or why anyone thinks everything should be freely upgraded. The game needs to make $$$ which requires some players to spend money when new content comes out and ships are the biggest revenue maker in this game. I wasn't happy when my RA level defiant was outclassed with the first cap increase but that's how it goes. It was definitely for the better. I still had to grind/buy the level 50 and/or fleet versions. It's unreasonable to think that a business is going to release better products and not expect you to actually buy them.

The folks that don't want to spend time or money on this game are not the players they are interested in hearing from anyways. To be blunt, the game has it's own time value of money and that is all the devs or it's corp owners are interested in. I saw in a previous post referring to paying players as "whales" and I find it offensive. I may choose to spend my bar tab playing this game instead of relying on others to keep it afloat. It doesn't mean that I am some how cheating them out of something. The paying players make this game possible not the other way around.

It was the best gear for some time...

And there will NOT be an upgrade option quite likely. What mmo does that? They want you to work for your gear.

I'm looking forward to all the new content, you cannot please everyone. And this will not be the last update so there is always room for improvement it's a never ending game. And the best Star Trek game I've ever played. What's the difference between a fleet ship and ac store tier 5? What 10% in certain places. Then depending on set up, playing style, how good you are. Why be so worried of this new tier 6..... New content is gone through faster than anyone could possibly create it, new ships, new gear, new area, and races. I'm like a kid at Xmas. :D

I only have one question: can I join the Borg yet or am I going to have to wait another four years before that happens?

Seriously I would pay you $1,000 right now for a Borg character as part of a Borg faction. I have been asking since launch and you're now adding an update about the region of space where the Borg live. Where is the playable faction? O.O

At the very least. we should get a Borg Lockbox, so that us Liberated Borg can finally have a CUBE or a SPHERE to fly!

I'm not very happy with the way the announcement was handled. The majority of players were not able to attend the convention, and by making the primary announcement there ...

I think that might have happened purposefully. I mean, they probably know that they pretty much milked the current player base as far as they can – also, old players are increasingly demanding and not so easy to excite. So it might seem logical to them from a financial/pragmatic perspective to shift the focus to potential new players and get their attention instead; even at the expense of existing players. (Of course, lot of assumptions here.)

Best guess is that players get one of the new tier 5 Delta ships on reaching level 50.
(That way they get to see how awesome the new ships are, and we get something with an obvious upgrade path.)
