The STO team is pleased to announce the second full expansion to the game, Star Trek Online: Delta Rising. Captains will be able to explore the Delta Quadrant, fighting alongside familiar allies against new terrifying foes!     If we're doing this voyager thing, here are my two biggest requests:

    The federation phaser rifles they used on voyager.

    Those beautiful Devore ships.

    Announcement = good.

    Video = good.

    Things in video = good.

    Lack of explanation RE: T6 ships and T5 upgrades = Bad.

    Trying to stay positive here, but I really do want to know the specifics of the upgrade system.

    That being said, does this mean we'll be getting a Delta Rising startup screen to replace the LoR one?

    Judging by the tone of the article with regards to tier 6 ships it sounds like they're going to be far superior than current ships in game.. the rage will be epic :cool:

    You must have missed this part of the announcement post:
    These ships have new capabilities not seen before, including innovations in bridge officer seating. Briefings on these new vessels will be released in the coming weeks.

    That's when you'll get your explanation.

    Great... And what rank will level 60 take us to? Level cap increases has ruined every game I've played so far for me - I'm really hoping this doesn't happen here...

    On the bright side, it's nice knowing Harry Kim will be in the storyline.

    Actually, it's not that big a deal. It's just following the tone of last weekend's announcement.

    Think about it... this is the "official" website announcement for the new expansion. They are not going to say "meh... our new ships are okay...", LOL. :P

    Although, this time, I will not fall into the LoR trap where Cryptic/PWE fooled me into shaking the moneymaker at the screen. :o

    I welcome the new content; to be honest, Voyager was my favorite series, and I never saw any reason for the widespread dismay about it.

    But as I stated elsewhere, I don't understand the need for even more ships, especially a whole new tier... There are still a lot of things to improve and problems to solve, which would have added much more to the appeal of the game (even financially, I think), with less headache to people who invested heavily in previous ships.

    How about real 3D space fight? (Seriously, I can't pitch beyond certain angle in space??)

    Or making the ship bridges useful? (Why are they separate from the ship's location, with the viewscreen always showing nil? Why not be able to see outside and navigate the ship?)

    Or upgrading the animations that depict characters interacting with objects? (It's completely unbelievable that they are doing anything intelligent with the consoles, etc.)

    It seems to me that the developers just don't want to think, or are so used to the game's systems that they can't think outside the box any more.

    (BTW, is the Undine space battle zone playable at all? I was never able to enjoy it due to the enormous lag. I would be surprised if it was solved, since the developer team did not even acknowledge the graphics performance issue in the first place.)

    nvm.... too less too late and the wrong attitude, at least towards me in the end lol.

    i'm pretty sure x2 will be "a great success" while, again, changing the game in a fundamental manner without refunding players for made progresses. just like with the r&d revamp, patrol escort and so on. on the side we'll probably get some free perks, thx for that in forward... or surprise us.

    p.s.:
    i hope we meet again often on the 2nd post. no idea why u always delete em, as i feel it to be very unpolite and picked, while other posters show much more destructive attitudes :P. thx for notice, sincerely "mr-2nd-post-wastee".

    Whats going to happen to the t5 lvl 50 ships? will they remain cstore ships, become dilithium ships, or get replaced and move up to t6?

    I understand the initial "Blog" to be an introductional one but honestly everyone here is dying to know what will happen to their expenively paid ships at 60.

    The blogs about this "progression" might come in the following weeks but at least a quick Q&A from devs regarding this matter would be appreciated - with additional info in the blogs to come.

    Please ease the concerns and uncertainty of all the players and give us some information to deal with instead on letting us sit under Damocles's Sword... please, for the love you have for the playerbase....

    I think it's pretty irrational to think that every tier 5 ship will get replaced. That would utterly destroy the game, and Cryptic probably knows this.

    Ok, now we can solo multiple Borg cubes at one time! That's what we needed! ...sorry, that's what THEY needed, because ship sales are down.

    Cryptic, I'll give you money if you allow us to upgrade our lower-tier (I through IV) ships to Tier V. No? Your missing out on a lot of money that players would be willing to give - ships that are already designed, just need to change their specs in the database. Easy money!

    At the very least, make all the NPCs in the game more powerful. We shouldn't be able to vape Borg cubes so fast - they are supposed to be adaptable.

    Tier 5 ships will remain competitive. they have said that several dozen times.
    Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.

    I'm not going to rant about how long it took you guys to finally post something about Delta Rising. Instead I'm going to simply ask, when are you going to tell us about what's going to happen to our Tier 5.x ships? :(

    I only have one question: can I join the Borg yet or am I going to have to wait another four years before that happens?

    Seriously I would pay you $1,000 right now for a Borg character as part of a Borg faction. I have been asking since launch and you're now adding an update about the region of space where the Borg live. Where is the playable faction? O.O

    I like that they are going to up the level cap real soon, but...bad part is that they are going to make new ships for tier 6. Why? Why not upgrade the tier 5 ships to tier 6 and release a new like of a lower tier ships? What will happen to all the money I spent on this game? My Avenger, my MVAE and many others will become TRIBBLE. I can't believe this. And we prob know that some tier 6 ships will be upgrades of our current ones. And if they think i'm gonna pay more zen for a tier 6 ship they are mistaken.

    Exactly, and they are who this announcement is for. Not every player looks at the forums or even the website. That's why there is a big picture with a link on the launcher.


    I do agree that this should have been announced earlier. If not that Saturday, then Monday for sure.

    New content is great. Delta Quadrant is a great idea.
    LvL 60 ships not so great.
    What happens to all those Z-store ships now that are LvL 50?
    Upgrade all our LVL 50 ships? OR no way am I buying more. And kiss space pvp goodbye.
