You answered your own question there. They don't have a schedule because we'd actually look forward to it. Then if they missed one, they would have to be help accountable...oh GOD FORBID PWE does something to responsibly communicate with its players. We might actually enjoy the occasional hype-inducing teaser.

I mean, it's not like this game has fans or anything.

Maybe they expected the reveal and the things said at stlv to be an unofficial blog. Boy did that kind of backfire. People losing their minds. lol.

God I hope that wasn't the plan/idea. I mean that's a terrible way to run a marketing campaign.

Well its a simple, easy way to explain why theres no blog at the moment and often times, the simpliest explanation is often the correct one.

I'm honestly looking forward to this. It means a " forced " creation of at least a couple of new kdf ships for X2. That stuff is raarreeee, more rare than unicorns. I shall call my new kdf ship I shall buy for X2, Charlie. Or maybe Candy Mountain.

Plus a new level cap. I mean holy, its been how many years? Actually staring at a leveling bar again will be a breath of fresh air. Something new to do to make me want to log on again longer than it takes to do dilithium.

...Also a quick question since they're raising the level cap do you thing we'll have to respec each toon again or will they just drop the extra on top of what we have already?

Whether or not respecs will be needed will depend on how the new Boff powers are affected by Captain skills, or if there are new weapons/consoles that also depend on Captain skills. Also, there may be more changes to existing Boff powers coming soon, or even when X2 goes live.

At this point, I would not even hazard a guess. There is just too little information. Maybe we will need respecs, maybe not.

Nope, not a one. STO is just....floating.
My Old Blog about things that could and should have been added when I wrote it. Not sure what I want to do with it now. I'll just keep it available now that most of it is outdated.

YOu know i wrote a lot about why i hate the increase in Lvlv and Mk. and i still have not heard any good reason for this, just that there are some. Wonder why no one could name them if there are so many.

But its not mainly about the increase but about the timing.

Some just might think that we need a Lvl increase to get more Storyline. But we do not. Just look at it. even the End game episodes are as easy as it gets just with a good Mk XII euipment on your ship and even a Mk XI equipment. So we could get seberal storylines with newer and Strronger enemies that we still could do in a T5 ship with Mk XII. And if we need more Firepower we are active ion a fleet and get Mk XII+ and Tier 5.5 gear.

    But back to the Timing.

A year or two ago i would have been happy about the increase but for a long long time now this game did not care about more storyline or ranks or whatever but just about reputation and grinding. So we did nothing else than to invest in all kinds of Mk XII stuff, from Fleet to reputation or special lockbox weapons. And now suddenly the decision to introduce Mk XIV.

We know not much for sure but we can assume that this means more grinding and it will cost "just for fun" players a lot of time and "money". I am already filling my Dilithium , marks and Zen Depots so i can get a store and a fleet ship and Mk XIV from the fleet as soon as it becomes available but i guess that a lot of players will leave for good. That happenned with LoR and i guess it will happen now too because many players play for fun and are not subscribers. And the game can not survive with only the subscribers, it needs the Zen of the others too.

Of yourse you might say that i only see the bad things and should focus on what good may come fro it but in my experience the bad things are more likely to happen. and they have the bigger effects. I will wait for the Expansion and see what it brings..

    YES!!!

That's what happens in every... single... MMO... with a level cap increase.

yes but every... single... MMO... with a level cap increase doesnt have a huge amount of variety of former endgame Ships (for MMO reasons, Mounts), 70+ last I checked, that they have at the old tier only to bottleneck everyone down to 3 or 4 Mounts that are of the new tier. I'm not worried about having to upgrade all my gear, thats normal. i'm more worried that all of the ships will be worthless and sector space will become a sea of the same ship like back in LOR when every single person was in a D'Deridix cause we were all playing romulan content. however, the devs have stated that this is not the case, and seeing that Tier 4 ships work great at T5, even for PVP, i think its likely that it will work

People are assuming they will get a fancy pack of FEs with the new level cap increase lol.

    Really funny xD.

Get lucky if we get 3 new episodes to travel trhough the new level cap increase. People forgets level cap increase has nothing to do with the story line or the FEs. People are assuming a lot these days...

The problem with STO over the years is that they've moved away from the idea that your ship is just as much a character as your actual captain. STO just treats ships like they're mounts in other games, and we're generally now expected to leap to the new shiny thing the moment it rears its head these days. I find this pretty disappointing to be honest.

remember LoR? remember how the devs are pumped about all the story they get to give us? Yeah.....delta quadrant with only 3 FE's........seems legit.

I would just like to point out that story missions are not always FEs, And the original Featured Series were separate from the story progression when they were first introduced.

This is great! I just saw all the pictures for new ships, new species and the Voyager model. They look amazing! The Voyager interior looks so good! I am more excited for this update than anything previously released.

If they manage to bring the Intrepid class up to par with end game content, I'll be thrilled. However, I'll be buying the ship, the interior and anything else related, regardless if it is or not.

OOOOH! Voyager style Boomerang hand phasers and compression rifles would be sweet!

I couldn't agree more with this. Exactly how I feel.

I posted sth. similar in another thread:

They need to give the players a way of upgrading all the T5 ships to a complete and full T6, regardless of the price they'd ask. They just must leave that option. People come here to play Star Trek, to command the ships they fell in love with during the Trek shows and movies.

They need to realize that the fandom is a very strong thing and that people make backstories, logs and RP around their ships. People are attached to their ships. Ships in STO aren't gear they are our secondary, if not primary, avatar. Metaphorically speaking - they can't make a game where I chose to play human avatar, but then the developer tells me they're raising the level cap and in the new end-game my human won't preform as well as the all new human with horns - so I need to switch my avatar to a human with horns if I want it all. That's just stupid.

Yay, i didnt mean FEs, i meant storyline episode missions. We will get probably just 1 FE. But i dont think we will get more than 3 or 4 episodes, unless instead we get 8 crappy designed ones.. (that could happen, as well).

Really, good thing that it's just a "thought" of not getting more than that, I would put more faith in what a Dev says than a player any day.

    I can't believe they're doing T6 ships.

why not? every MMO as they grow does it. you think an original maxed toon from that blizzard fantasy MMO can compete in the newest expansion?

George Lucas doesn't pronounce is own creations correct.

I can forgive the dev of a video game for pronouncing Ocampa wrong.

Also some people naturally say things differently even if they're not accurate.

    Relax.

Standing in front of a huge crowd making sure you give all the right information will make you forget your own name much less a made up race of beings.
