KDf still lacks a single 5tac console raider, and are still waiting for fleet roomba
Leaves me wondering if this was released first - to offset Fed complaints - upon releasing a KDF Raptor with similar stats. We're still missing the Zen Raptor...eh?
If that's the case, then either Geko needs to work on his communication skills, or the person who asked him that question had a really bad way of phrasing it.
I took it as "Will my Fleet Patrol Escort be transfromed into the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit?" to which he said no. Meaning, no fixed tailgun and whatever else was added.
I also interpreted "it will be replaced by..." as it would be replaced in the ship store -- not in players inventories (or ship slots, or however you want to put it).
If Geko wants to flat out tell me I'm wrong, I welcome it. I want to be wrong in this instance.
They need to figure it out fast and tell us.....
They Should NOT Forget that there are those of us who have experienced the following:
1. Purchased the Maelstrom Skin - Result, it was "Retired" when the FPE came out and we got nothing
2. Spent 4 Fleet Ship Modules on the Fleet Patrol Escort and now, we get shafted again with our ship getting "Retired"
Sure it was on me that I made those purchases, but I would like some consideration.

The Patrol Escorts were envisioned as escorts with an engineering bent. The Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class improves on those original designs with greatly improved Bridge Officer seating, a 5th Tactical Console slot, and additional aft firepower that will give Tempest captains new options in combat.
The Tempest comes equipped with a Nadion Saturation Bomb console. Firing the Nadion Saturation Bomb lays down a string of explosive fire that strafes between the ship and its target and then continues to detonate past the target. Any enemy ships caught in the explosions will take severe damage. After detonation, an intense Nadion Radiation Field lingers in space, creating a deadly hazard for enemies. The Nadion Saturation Bomb console may be equipped in any console slot of any Patrol Escort.

The Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class also comes with the Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun. This unique dual cannon is set up to fire on targets in the rear 90 degree arc of the Patrol Escort, and defaults to the Rapid Fire I firing mode. Like other cannons, the Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun can be modified by Scatter Volley and higher rank Rapid Fire bridge officer abilities. The Aft-Firing Tempest Tail Gun is fused to its own slot and does not fill one of the ships three aft weapons slots. It cannot be removed.*
The Patrol Escort Refit comes with the new Tempest class costume by default. As a Patrol Escort, it can also use costume parts from the Dervish, Gryphon and Hermes class costumes. If you have already unlocked the Maelstrom costume, it will also be available to you. Purchasing the Patrol Escort Refit: Tempest Class will unlock the Tempest costume for all Patrol Escorts.
There is currently a Fleet Patrol Escort available in the in-game ship store if you have a Tier 1 Fleet Shipyard. That ship will be retired and no longer available. It will be replaced with the new Fleet Patrol Escort Refit. Like all Fleet ships, the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit enjoys additional HP and shields, as well as a bonus console slot in this case, a 3rd Engineering console slot. The Fleet Patrol Escort does not come with the Nadion Saturation Bomb console item, but it does come equipped with a 4th aft weapon slot, fused with the Aft Tempest Tail Gun.

Don't any of you go on a rant on misinterpreted information. Geez... you guys sometimes...
The guy over on Twitter asked "@CaptainGeko If I already own a Fleet Patrol Escort, will it be transformed into the refit version ?" Al answered a succinct: "No." which totally makes sense.
The Patrol Escort Refit is a C-Store ship. It isn't a Fleet ship. The player has a Fleet Patrol Escort.
The blog says the following:
So, everyone that owns a Fleet Patrol Escort are getting it swapped for a 'Fleet Patrol Escort Refit'. But you're not getting the Z-Store Patrol Escort Refit.
It's not because you go and get a Fleet Heavy Carrier Escort that you're suddenly entitled to getting the Z-Store Armitage if you hadn't already. Same difference.
Why does everybody presume we're getting a free ship replacement? It was my understanding that anyone who has bought the Fleet Patrol Escort will keep their Fleet Patrol Escort, and that variant will no longer be available to buy, but now the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit will be available for purchase to everybody as an entirely separate ship.
"Replaced" could either mean replaced in your character's inventory (meaning all Fleet Patrol Escorts are now updated to the new hotness), or it's replaced in the ship store alone and you'll have to re-buy it or stay with your old and busted 'retired' version.
Ideally, in my perfect world? It means both. But given the vague statement and his response on Twitter, there's reasonable doubt it is both.
Furthermore, this is the first time a Fleet ship has been 'retired'. Which is to say, Geko went out of his way to use the word 'retired', when previously if a ship was updated -- it was just flat-out updated and made universal in the game.
The fact he has to make the distinction it is 'retired', instead of taking the easier route and stating 'all fleet patrol escorts will be updated when this goes live', further fuels my suspicions.
Leaves me wondering if this was released first - to offset Fed complaints - upon releasing a KDF Raptor with similar stats. We're still missing the Zen Raptor...eh?
I wouldn't care if it was a copy and paste just so we could have atleast 1 c-store raptor lol which we don't have any of currently. The current option for raptors is getting a mirror one or fleet one. Although like many fed ships they contain a console or something to that nature to set it apart from other ships of the same type like escort, cruiser, etc. All that being said though any time the KDF does get something there is always a plethera of fed complaints even though its mostly about pvp issues being its cross faction your just as likely to get bitten by KDF as you are your own medicine be it fed, kdf or romulan ships and lockbox ships lol
Well, back in the day, this ship was named the "Blockade Escort".
But, hey, the Steamrunner came along, and they gave it that name. So, instead, ALL the existing Blockade Escorts got turned into Patrol Escorts. It's not like those already owned stayed named Blockade Escorts and that any new one purchased from that point on would be then a Patrol Escort. Can you imagine what a logistical nightmare it would be on the databases Dev sides, especially with the number of ships already around?
Now, they're saying that this one thing is going to be removed, in favor of this other thing. They use the world 'replaced', in a very simple phrase. I don't see how they could make that anymore obvious.
Yes it does , someone asked if players who already own the existing fleet patrol escort will get theirs updated into the new one , Geko said no
Not liking this precedent at all.
Two months ago I was debating between the Fleet Defiant and the FPE for one of my characters, but ultimately went with the Fleet Defiant. At the same time I spent an extra $20 on modules and picked up a Fleet Luna for a different character. If in the future they release an updated C-Store T5 Luna and an updated Fleet Luna am I going to have to spend another $30 to get the better version? Is this what they're going to do to players who have already purchased the Fleet Heavy Cruiser when the Constellation class finally hits the game next month-ish (Captain Picard Day is June 16th)?
Not cool Al.
Seriously, why should I buy any new C-Store ship that comes out from now on if you're going to set the precedent now that down the road you'll release a better version of it and expect me to spend an extra $30 to upgrade?

Actually it was called the Fleet Escort. It was renamed because Fleet ships were being launched and "Fleet Escort" would be used to describe the T2 Escort retrofit. It was renamed to Patrol Escort since at that time... all T5.5 fleet ships could be called a 'Fleet Escort'.
Geez, you guys are afraid of a certain outcome, and you're letting every arguments you raise from that point on color your judgment. Take a step back and think about it some.

Hopefully it's incorrect , and it will be updated , just waiting on a confirmation either way from Geko
But there's no profit it giving you the "brand new" ship for free. You've bought it once and I bet most of you will eagerly buy it again. Because it's new and shiny, or something.
And in a month or two there will be yet another ship, with even better stats. And you'll buy that one as well, to grind the same old content again and again. Until yet another better ship appears which will replace your old one... Perhaps in a new Lock Box this time, or a new Doff Pack... And you'll want that one as well. And another. And another...

Reading it in context it simply means that the buy option from the shipyard is getting replaced, it says absolutely nothing about player owned ships.

Rather hear from a Dev on the subject. Right now the wording is very vague. The Current Fleet Patrol Escorts are just as likely to become "Museum Piece" ships as they are to be updated to the new Fleet Patrol Escort Refit model.
Geez, you guys are afraid of a certain outcome, and you're letting every arguments you raise from that point on color your judgment. Take a step back and think about it some.
I stand corrected. Wrong name.
Same point, though.
Not really the same point. If he wanted to, he could simply have written that all previous Fleet Escorts would be updated to the 'new' standard, much like any ship buff update the game has had.
This is the first time he distinctly used the word 'retired' to describe a Fleet Ship. The distinction makes it an educated assumption.
I have the same, but you can access the blog in german or french. Translation is horrible (including some part in german for some reason) in French at least, but that probably mean you can google it back to perfect English, since that what they did in the first place.
And you don't really need to speak the language to read the specs
