Why does no one seem to realize that having the Undine travel from the Jenolan to Solonae spheres to get to Our Space is having them go the long way?
You're right of course. A lot of the things regarding the sphere and 8472 don't make any sense what so ever. However, this is how I've chosen to rationalize it.
The Undine is unable to deploy a massive invasion fleet directly into Federation space without it being detected and responded to. However inside/outside the Jenolan sphere the Federation and her allies do not have the capability to either detect or retaliate. Therefore the Undine can use the sphere as a staging point to build a huge fleet and then use the gate to suddenly omgwtfbbq the Dyson spheres defenses.
As for S9... I'm super excited! Especially for a new ESD. I always hang out on New Romulus but that may well change come S9
It used to be that we would get a whole FEATURED SERIES a few times a year! 1 Episode a week for FIVE WEEKS! Can you imagine that these days?
God, I miss those days... they were so awesome...
Imagine this shareholder meeting: So you make stories you say?Yes. And you offer consumers a tool to produce their own stories? Yes. Good, we can make more profilt right there. Cut the episodes.
I'm looking forward to the new Space Dock to see what it looks like. And to see what the new season brings for us. I'm still not yet finished with the Dyson, so my main character won't be sitting long to get into the new season. Which is good and bad. As my others will be still trailing behind him.

To the guys complaining about the new season: Dudes. We don't KNOW yet how many FEs there will be or what the content will be like. All we know is that Season 9 is coming out with a new ESD and a focus on the Undine.
We have NOT yet been given any information as to what form that focus will take. We DO have strong implications that Cryptic is giving us the popular demand of an end to the Fed-KDF war (thanks for that, BTW).
In short, yelling at Cryptic for not giving us enough FEs in season 9 is at this point highly entitled, bratty, and outright nonsensical. There could well be 10 FEs this season; we just don't know yet.
If there turns out to be only one FE and a bunch of tutorial missions like the Sphere training missions? I will join the wrathful hordes without too much fuss. But until that point, give Cryptic the benefit of the doubt.
Sure hope that there's a whole FE series, with VO, and only limited content expansion (there's quite a bit as it is, although a space battlezone or a return of the Terradome would be nice).
Sadly, they've stopped making episode series, and instead just keep rolling out "repeatable" content areas... The best we can hope for is a new Terradome instance or something. We ARE getting a space battlezone, though, I think.
So it's safe to say the new rep will be the Undine rep
Hopefully, the new rep will be no rep. I think that at this point, any more "reputation systems" will just burn more people out... it's already happening due to the current reps, as well as all of the so-called "events" that are really just time-limited "rep grinds."

The upcoming season will continue the story with a new feature episode, [...]
I have marked the important passage for you. Quite bratty to not read the blog carefully, and then accuse others.
have to admit the storyline content has not been great, lot of other content but there has not been much on solid storyline content since LoR last year. i hope this isnt a sign of things to come that each new season is just one storyline mission and thats it.

Agreed. Pointless Grind is what they call Endcontent now.

OK, I concede that the blog indicates one new FE. How do you know that they WON'T do a whole series? Where does it say "one and only one" or some synonym? How do you know that that FE mentioned is not the first of a series, or one of two like with Season 8? How do you know that the entire season is even finalized at this point? It's still a month and a half off, for chrissake.

with an expansion coming later in the year its likely there will be a lot more content coming, is it for an undine faction or whatever else? can not say for sure, but its very likely there will be more then one mission soon, im just concerned outside the immediate expansion with content.

well what can I say if you've put half as much effort into season 9 as you did revamping esd and the dyson battlezone then I cant wait to see what you guys have come up with. Now I know people moan about the bugs and other problems in game, I'm one of them. But with with content such as this on the horizon we really cant complain too much.
Oh and would you kindly thank the Dev that beamed into the new ESD as the Elite Gorn tactical drone and thank him for shooting me in the back! lol
Will the origin interiors be included in the new season? please
I wish so much for this, but apparently, like many of the other QoL things everyone wants (Breaking down the off-duty barrier, for instance), it's not going to happen, I don't think.

IIRC, D'Angelo said that they wouldn't do any more series, because it's not "repeatable content" (a.k.a. 'grind'... *facepalm*), and therefore apparently not worth it.
I'm not talking about those. I'm talking about current, ongoing, end-game level content for the KDF. Like the Pi Canis daily raids. Like exploration clusters where we slaughter Starfleet. Like Kahless expanse
easy fix just replace them by mirror universe ships then again i'm pretty sure cryptic don't give a damn about details like these
Steven, a new season is all good mate but PLEASE there are far too many on-going older bugs that are STILL not being addressed that need to be addressed before you even think about releasing a new season and we are really geting tired of pointing this out...
This was stated many times during LoR testing but nope, that feedback was ignored and yuip, it caused problems... Think about it...

Please please please let the new Battlezone be an open world PVP battlezone with both ground and space, similar to what we've seen Neverwinter get recently with Icewind Dale. That type of zone would completely revitalize this game for me. IMHO it would make a lot of people happy and bring STO a long way towards being able to compete with it's contemporaries many of whom have a robust PvP endgame available for those who enjoy PvP.
Never going to happen.
As much as I love open world PvP I would loath it in STO and avoid the zone like the plague. One reason. Vapers. They alone make PvP a joke, it's not player vs player, it's player vs insane spike damage. PvP without the Vapers however is a blast, and I can easily say it's some of the most fun I've had PvPing but that takes either 1v1 or organized teams.
Go to Kar'rat if you want to know what open world PvP would be like.
I'm REALLY hoping that some of the improvements they're talking about include updating the game engine! I hate having frame lag, sound drop, and invisible torpedoes in this game! It really needs some attention so we can have bigger fights and more players in a single zone.
Also, from what I read, it seems that the Community Manager made the Devs do everything that they did for this season update from saying things like "I dared the team to make ESD look better". Wouldn't it had sound better if "I told the team how much players don't like the look of ESD and they responded!". Seems like the Community Manager is only reporting his problems rather than ours.

BTW, guys, check the Tribble forum if you want to know what new stuff is currently useable. There's a new Undine Assault queue (probably the first of multiple), and the new ESD, though still a bit rough around the edges and missing a few features, is available and quite functional.
Star Trek. You know. The franchise that was founded on going into outer space and exploring. What's the point of being in the Star Trek universe if you have no need to be anywhere else but Earth?
....but, you can park your ship anywhere.
Who cares. Just have fun.
Second, I think Season Nine has to be the smallest update we have had in a long time.

See, that's what I'm worried about. Because I have the feeling they don't give a damn about those details. And yet, those "details" are far more than details, it's quite a bing chunk of the game.

That's one of the big reasons their doing it.
Easier to make one set of content instead of separate content for independent factions.
And it will also mean more cross faction ships so start looking towards combination designs ... likely more so than what we see with the Dyson ships.
