Nah, it's not even that good. From the current tribble notes, it looks like the Voth Zone is being converted into the Undine-occupied zone. So it's basically going to be the Contested Zone but with Undine in it instead. No ground battlezone.
Aaand that's about it.
Seriously, if that's the "new" space adventure zone they mentioned in the Dev Blog, then I think someone needs to rename this to Season 8.75.
lol.....wut?!? You mean to tell me that S9 is still in the Dino Sphere???
Wow....I'm actually glad several other titles are soon to be released, cause if what you say is true this is another season I'd rather skip.

I don't think its gonna get converted... more likely another area of the sphere. So far we only got 2 or 3 small country sized areas of the sphere explored. And the sphere is an entire solar system in size. :P
What would be even cooler is if the Voth standing in the new ESD is a spoiler for a possible fourth faction joining the accord!
That Voth was also standing on the old ESD on the test server, if I recall he just teleports people to the sphere area. He have been there for a while now, before this test round started.

Star Trek V: "The Final Frontier"
I like that they're finally turning the interior view into a communal meeting place like Perpetual envisioned it instead of the instanced gear shop it currently is...
Um... the current HOLODECK map is not instanced. The shipyard and the main ring area are on the same map. the door only teleports you to a different part of the same map, not a separate instance.
Even the original ESD shipyard is still on this map, at a much lower elevation to the main "ring"
Looking up, there is a dark circular area (look for where the stars arent). That's actually the shipyard/spacedock area (much higher than the elevation of the main floor)
Now inside the spacedock looking into the shipyard area.
There's more pics in this album I made comparing/contrasting ESD Season 8 and ESD Season 9. And really, looking at Season 9's ESD from the outside gives you a MUCH much better appretiation for the scale of this thing.
I'd much rather the Devs revamp ship interiors so I NEVER HAVE TO VISIT SPACEDOCK!
I don't want to see the 45,962 different Starfleet uniforms in 398 color combinations. I don't want to see the Starfleet Strippers, or the 20,000 Halo Master Chief look alikes running around.
I want to be able to create a Trek experience for me, which fits my expectations of Trek. A ship, a crew (all dressed in the same uniform) and a mission.
Give me the means by which to never see all the other so-called Starfleet officers, and I'll be much happier.
Until then, I'm not likely to be very excited about this revamp. It does nothing to address the problems which I see in regards to public spaces in this game.

He's right in a sense though, you know. A Star Trek game should resemble.....well Star Trek.
Individualism is cool and all, but it should relate to off duty outfits and other stuff on your character like hairstyles, tatoos, earrings and such. You don't go around in the military with a custom puprle uniform because you want to exercise your individualism. The way Crytpic missed the meaning of the term 'uniform' is rather hillarious.
And no, HALO and dinosaur-leg armors are not Star Trek.
Hey, Tacofangs, have you considered a cape and a Tacomobile? And a Tacoplane, Tacoboat, and Tacosign that the police can project against the clouds to summon you?

I rescued half of the Vega Colony by myself and my crew in a puny Miranda.
I foiled an attempted Romulan invasion.
I stopped a Planet Killer.
I recovered and disconnected some drones from the Collective.
I stopped Devidians from pulling the whole sector into their dimension.
I infiltrated a Dominion-controlled DS9.
I discovered the true about the Hobus supernova and captured and killed its instigators.
I helped the Remans become free and destroy the Tal Shiar.
I saved Scotty and Bones.
I encountered Q.
I got a Breen, a Voth and a Jem'Hadar Boffs.
I discovered the New Romulus gateway.
I uncovered the Iconian plot.
I pushed the Terran Empire back to its own universe. Twice. Officially.
I ripped off the Battle of Hoth.
I rescued the Enterprise. The original.
I rescued the captain of the Enterprise. The most recent one.
I stopped the Borg from assimilating the Undine.
I threw snowballs at evil snowmen in the Q Continuum.
I prevented the Voth from getting Omega particles.
I repaired the original and the JJ timelines. I wished I hadn't fixed the second one, though.
I've been bitten by ghosts, haunted by mole rats and slapped by vampires.
I think I've earned AT LEAST a custom uniform. [/said everyone. :P]

ESD should be a command center for Starfleet, and therefore someplace that is visited regularly. But all space stations should have the same basic services there. All should have some sort of shipyard, medical bay, exchange, mail service, banks, commodities and tailor vendors. What the prices are and what is available should be different from station to station.
The variations in Starfleet uniforms doesn't bother me that much. Even with in the US Military there are variations on the standard uniforms that are worn at different outposts. STO just made the variations greater than current style is.
I also think that ships interiors should have Banking, exchange, Tailoring, Mail, Medical and Crafting vendors and that all of your crew should be wearing what ever base uniform you have designated for your ship.
To me, that is the Star Trek experience. Your's seems to point more towards a solo eexperience in the game. An MMO will not cater to Solo play. It caters to more interactive play. And if you have "rules of conduct" enforced at stations, you will end up with people not playing as they go to places that allows them to be silly when they want to be. Just ignore the things you don't like and move on to do the things you like. Public places will always be the trolls playground, and so expect it to be wierd and break cannon. Turn off that that chat if you don't want to see. Interact only with what you want to interact with. And have as much fun as you can with the confines of the game.
Please redesign the Fleet Starbase exterior and the lower decks to something similiar thatwas seen in the preview trailer (and personally I do believe that the engineering deck, especially the core should look different to what is on a starship). At the moment the surrounding space looks boring and having a planet in the background (like in the trailer) would really help to finish it off as well as adding some patrolling ships.

Now that this may be settled can you fix the firing points on the Sovereign, Dual Beam banks come out of my thrusters, not the beam arrays, and my torps come out of my bridge.

Just out of curiosity for those of us that have foundry missions that start inside of the current ESD, what is the plan for that? Am I going to have to relocate the door for the beginning of all of my missions, because damn I have 21 to do that for.

They are keeping all of the UGC contacts in a lower floor in the new ESD.

Which doors are they? :P
The lower floor won't change, but the upper floor will likely move to their counterpart in the new layout.
i have been and had a look on tribble mainly at the new earth space dock, its a awsome layout and all but i was a bit confused by the massiveness of the shuttle bay there.
for a start (and i know it a work in progress) but there seems to be no legitimate way to enter the shuttlebay other then jumping over the railing this means that once you are inside the shuttlebay there is no way to get back to the main part and you need to beam back to your ship and dock again to get back to the main area.
so basicly you have an extremly large area layed out there with no real intention of encouraging players to go there and in any case there is nothing you can actually do there if you do go there other then wander arround for a bit say yes thats nice now how do i get outta here?
it just seems like a lot of wasted effort when a simple jpeg behind plexiglass would have been just as good and a lot quicker to make.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
Are there any plans to improve crafting in the game? I don't know anyone crafts anything other than kit. I wanted to suggest putting some crafting recipes in game. like in elit stffs or very rare doff missions, or for something like first place in crystalline stf. but i mean good recipes not blue items.
Mr. D'Angelo..
Thank you very much for the kind announcement in my email. Very thoughtful of you, an i'm sure the improvements to ESD are stunning. However, I and many many others play Romulans Sir. Currently, Romulans are forced to become third class citizens of either the Federation Or the Klingon Empire. This is anathema. I understand you have a difficult job and are doing your very best, an therefore have to ride on the legacy left behind by your predecessor. However, you also have the means and power to change things. I woul urge you to upscale the Romulans to a complete and sovereign faction capable of having fleets an bases and not be merely the underlings of either of the other factions. Many players left because of your predecessors error. I'd hate to see more leave..
Maby before U start develop new things in this game U should fix bugs ? 4 example crashes to system and graphic bugs changing colour palette when switch maps - I love this game but if U continue to do not do anything I think I will find diferent online game maby not that huge but without bugs, problems and saving my nerves

Same here.
I LIKE the story missions. I replay them. I must've killed Thot Trel a hundred times, and I've only been around for one FE replay event.
TBH, a lot of it is that Thot Trel is a great, hammy villain and I like shooting him.
