I guess I get to tell the Lyrical Trek side of it from another angle.

EDIT: Not like I got anything else going on with the game crashing everytime it tries to load the game now.

As with my previous entry, I'm not doing anything major for this, there's too much which could happen, but please enjoy a different glimpse at the same time period.

For ease of reference/visualization, here're the actors I would cast if I was filming this tomorrow...

    Ael t'Kazanak - Cobie Smulders
    Pok Raban - Jack Black
    ch'Nett - Jensen Ackles
    Verelan t'Kazanak - Liz Vassey
    S'rR's Kane - Amy Smart

Still planning to get some reviews in - maybe this weekend I'll have enough time to get some reading done...

Meanwhile, allow me to plug a megacollaboration involving gulberat, patrickngo, takeshi6, knightraider, and me: "Faces in the Flames" This continues on in the universe established by "The Road to Ruin", "The Chase" and "Visiting With the Dead". I've just posted the third installment in this piece, which will probably be our most epic story yet.

    /end plug.

@marcusdkane - Nice addition to the LC, especially from another point of view. The panic is palpable. I'm inspired to add more myself as I have now played the mission and actually *seen* what the big deal is about. And it is a big deal ...

buuuut I'm, going to wait for Part 2 ;) Meanwhile I'm killing myself slowly over a previous LC I have yet to add to so that's my concentration.

Thank you :) The thing to keep in mind with Ael, is that although she was born on Romulus, she and her parents are naturalised Federation citizens, so her reaction to The Plan, is not necessarily what 'a patriotic Romulan' may have (or even Kathryn's optimism...) My main goal, was to continue to keep Captain Atreides as an unseen character ;)

I'll definitely look forward to those entries, as well as finding out how things turn out once the gateway is activated

Well since the first challenge was to write the events prior to the Gateway, I guess I'll write what the crew does during the mission.

    Kick, Kick...

Life's been a bit TRIBBLE lately, so i've been less enthusiastic about writing, which is why these entries have been shorter than usual. I would have loved to expand on these more, but for the time being, this is all i can do at the moment. Either way, i still have a week to go before part two, so hopefully i manage to get some more back story into this last entry.

Sorry to hear life's been getting you down, hope things pick up for you soon :)

Fantastic entry, I'm sure it'll be no surprise that my favourite part was the return of Krotious!

Thank you, and me too. A lot of it seems to be just rejections from the job hunting, and family issues, but there's a lot more too it. I really should try to get into writing more often though as it's a good way to take my mind off of things. Perticularly, i would like to get in and add more background into the two characters in that last entry if i find time between letters of rejection lol. I really don't want to leave Krotious' back story so shallow, and i wanted to delve more into Vrel's list and a few of the other names he's crossed off.

Those're never good, but try not to let it get you down, companies know that in today's climate, they can afford to be picky, and are turning away perfectly good applicants :( I have to admit, Krotious works quite nicely as a bit of an enigma, it gives him an air of mystery, rather than becoming a sympathetic villain, which a deeper background could do... I'll keep an eye out for any revisions

Well if i do go deeper into the background, don't worry. There is no possibility of making him a sympathetic villain. It would all be to show what he was before compared to what he is now, and give a little insight to the character. I will consider the Mystery aspect however.

Ahh, now I guess that could work by pointing out how far Krotious has risen in the status stakes from being that crew's b*tch/scapegoat, to being a full on badass

Note: Second Story for this LC.

Intermediate story until the next Challenge comes up, this is a standalone set on New Romulus, far from the capital when the Gateway is activated and takes place concurrent with the events of Spheres of Influence.

This story is heavily, heavily influenced by the events of Supertyphoon Haniyan and the Christchurch New Zealand Quake of 2011. Caution: I was going for raw emotional impact this time.

    Story is located Here

Heavy stuff, but very nicely written, very compelling reading

    /empathetic high five

I've stopped working on previous LCs like I said I was trying .. for now.

The recent entries are great to read for a distraction though :) I'll wait for LC54 to see where Kathryn and crew went.

Yeah, it's very disheartening when even the seasonal jobs tell me no thanks. Hopefully you're having better luck.

It will be nice to read more of your entries though if the mood hits you during the holiday season.

Actually, our problem comes from not being able to get into the game. (I think because me an cmdrscarlet have the same error code every tie we launch the game.)

Oh dang, i new season 8 broke a lot of stuff, but i didn't know that it was keeping people from getting in. Although, i suppose i'm lucky, my launcher is having serious issues, but it's still working after a few tries.

I posted a thread that i will link to afterwards, but i really think that Season 8 was really nothing but a new place to grind, they should really take a season's worth of time to just go back and fix a lot of things in the game that really just aren't working. Basically make it a huge Quality of life pass. Feel free to comment in there about this issue if you want, but over all, the state of the game is getting a bit ridiculous over how much just isn't working right.

Sorry but this is a Discussion thread for the Literary challenges. Unless your post pertains to the LC thread, it does not belong here. Thank you for your concerns about the QoL, but we ask that you leave it in General.

No offense and I apologize if this post seems confrontational.

It kind of surprised me to be honest, but i was off topic, so i can't blame people for getting angry. I do apologize though, if i upset anyone.

I didn't mean to sound angry. Just a friendly reminder of the thread's purpose.

Posted the new entry. It gives some insight into the crew's backstory. Took me a while to get that done. I got distracted this week by the Doctor Who special.

Weeeelllll ... I can play the game. I just don't play as often as I can because I'm trying to find a better job for my family. I write for this forum at work, so I have to squeeze time when I can for the words. In order to "show my worth" I am putting more effort into work so I can leave on better footing. All that means less time for the game and the fiction.

Really, I need to spend less time on the message board as a whole and more time on the words :P

I've been considering a followup story, involving the battle at the end of Sphere of Influence. Would that be out of bounds?

Only until next week, I believe. Branflakes hinted that the next challenge would be to write about the aftermath of Sphere.

Okay, the tale of Sajak and the Pournelle can wait a week, I suppose. (The Messier, being a science ship, is assisting with relief efforts at Mol'Rihan.)
