If you're stuffing universal consoles onto your Scimitar and expecting it to do everything at once...you're really doing it wrong.

She's a flight deck battlecruiser with a maneuvering mechanic that requires quite a bit of active management to make work. Once you figure that out however, she can lay out some serious hurt.

You could be correct, and i wouldnt think of arguing with you on it, but, my question remains, if i'm doing it wrong, then why am i still pumping out 2K worth of damage per second, and not dieing??? Everyone else here seems to die a lot. I dont, and i want to know why..

If you're only doing 2k dps, the odds of you actually getting anything resembling aggro in the PvE environment is next to zero. Things have to shoot at you to kill you.

uh...most definitely not everyone, only select people. Just finished another CE Elite in 1st place in my Scim : http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/902127097130036089/27A7EAA109271713B8E82457A5B0C1F308243428/

Didn't die not even once, as you can see, no damage icons.

This one from earlier : http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/902127097116783334/E7EE5638733B7D9A01054643532C2E41E2F47516/

Now that I can say I consistently finish 1st in CE Elite in this ship without dying. Like I said, there may be some bugs unknown to me. But part of it is the design that some people stuffed into that kill it more than anything else. Another explanation, which I see in CE Elite is sheer stupidity. Some guy in a Scim constantly activates the Thalaron WMD at the CE. Wanna guess what happens next? The CE is barely scratched but both times there is a big pool of Thalaron gas scattered around the space, hindering the sight of everyone else! I mean, please, die, kill yourself or suicide if you must but to make everyone suffocate in your remains is just arrggh!!! Not once but twice!

Of course you bet the said person is going to cry : "Woah! My Scim is a paper tiger!"

Ok so i have read some of the complaints, and i have to say it sounds like half of them are people coming down with a bad case of noobitis. First let me address some issues

    1) Shield regen - when in space with MACO res shields equipped i noticed a nonsensical figure for regen. SO i equipped the borg shield. Problem solved. MACO shield could be bugged.

    2) I have noticed fire at will puts down some serious weapon drain as it used to before they fixed the bug on all the other ships. Clearly this hasnt applied ot the scimitar. Fire at will, could be bugged.

    3) Thaloron cannon - before firing, GO STATIC. click your full aux power preset, pop all damage cooldowns, then defense boff skills, decloak and let her rip. i got a 125k crit with it and that means 125k extra over the 12 seconds too. I have also wiped out Tholian groups in one shot on azure nebula rescue.

However with the borg set on, and only Lt sci, Lt eng, and ensign eng for defense boffs along with 2 x tac team on my tac boffs, i can still tank pretty much anything. Tac cubes and gates. Not that you should be tanking you should be recloaking, every 22 seconds to get your cloak ambush and turn rate bonus and give your shields chance to regen. Also in pvp, the only ship i cant kill is a pro sci ship. Bugs and any escort just dies. And this is all with 4 x dual beams front not cannons.

Seriously, if you sit there static, at 9km+ firing cannons, thinking your poo doesn't stink, then you should try a different ship. I hate that tactic, go play a tower defense game. If you understand Romulan boff space traits and how to get the best from your cloaking and crit buffs, and you have the full console set, then this ship is in beastmode.

Oh and lastly, all you people who don't like the drifting, sound like really boring players. Clearly users of the static cannon shooting range tactic. The drifting is fun and fresh and its a damn fun ship to fly. I like the drift because when i cloak in pvp while flying away from a bit of prey, as soon as my turn rate cloak buff kicks in, i can spin round while still travelling away from the foe and then decloak and start engaging very quickly again. Not only is this exceptionally cool, its very useful for breaking people's damage bursts and re engaging with your own. DO NOT QQ about the drift, i dont want the good players to suffer because others cant handle the scimitar.

    That is all.

Ok, after further testing in Kerrat, and being popped by a rather persistent Scimitar that insists on firing a Bioneural torpedo at me without ever decloaking whenever he can, I found several interesting . . . things.

First off, the shuttle. Buying the shuttle but not using it didn't seem to matter as the game automatically assigned it as my active shuttle, complete with a little shuttle icon on it. I'll get rid of it later.

On the other hand, my ship stats did NOT go down like it used to be. Also tooltips on equipment in my inventory now compares to my Starship's gear like it should be. Apparently the wierd behaviour where the tooltip connects to my shuttle's gear is seemingly gone.

I'll withhold judgement on that after a week.

Also the strange behaviour where the Character status page mistakenly shows a second Tovan Kev as a STARSHIP right below my name had mysteriously disappeared. Ever since i unloaded my old shuttle to the used shuttle sales rep. Strange.

Anyone else experiencing this bug? It may be a sign that something got borked.

I know they think highly of Tovan but a Starship, seriously? Also he has the icon of a Soverieign class.

As for equipment, non-set shields will show the proper shield regen rates on the defense tab but Shields that are part of a set will show the 0/-1 display. I can confirm that this is just a display bug as the shields do in fact regenerate every 6 seconds.

Now for the Tac team skill. Note that this is after I sold my shuttle and bought back a replacement. Tac team works. It quickly redirects existing shield levels to the side being damaged and can quickly recover full shields with reverse shield polarity.

The shielded while cloaked module does not seem to affect shield recovery any. Whether I have it equipped or not does not seem to make any difference. However according to the Tooltip your shield power levels should be halved while cloaked, for a reduced recovery rate, i think. What is happening instead is that there is no recovery while cloaked and shield power is not reduced. Not sure if this is working as intended.

I'm wondering if the no recovery bug is the system not recognizing that you decloaked and thinks that you are still cloaked. A lag issue perhaps?

One interesting thing that I found is the ridiculous rate of crew deaths. I MAY have found the reason, but not really sure as it's rather difficult to test against the borg.

In my Odyssey, crew deaths via the borg's torpedoes is a percent of the current crew numbers, so regardless of how many torpedoes hits I get it never goes down to 0 unless I take damage from exploding ships.

With the Scimitar, and similarly the Big DD and the various Haaxxx ships crew deaths appears to be a percent of the MAXIMUM crew complement. Fighting the borg in Kerrat, this is the only time i have ever been reduced to zero crew, ever. in all my ships, well except the Rommie ships. This is the first time I've returned here in a Rommie ship. Fed and Klink ships never got to zero crew.

And when your ship has zero crew, it seems like ALL weapons do an additional kinetic impact as my hull melted away despite shields still up.

I never noticed this behaviour of rapid crew deaths on the Valdore and smaller ships. Then again I only used the Mogai in Kerrat and only to level up once to get the next ship.

Also the damage you take from exploding ships appears to be based on your collision box and not on the visible model. Since the Rommie cruisers have Ginormous boxes it's almost impossible to escape the warpcore breaches unless you use brace for impact or evasive away.

Also warp core explosions have a HUGE crew kill component now that i never noticed before. In one instance i had 1/3 crew deaths when I killed a sphere and wasn't able to get away.

The warp core breach reduced me to 30% hull despite full shields (popped miracle worker as brace/evasive was in cooldown) and left me with maybe 1/5 crew. Around 500 odd crew left.

I wonder if they are also removing the % from the maximum crew number of 3000. Will need some nice Captain willing to shoot torps on a Scimitar to test, but I'm also wondering if this is a behaviour exclusive to the borg. Never noticed it on any other species.

That's my report on the tests I've done today. More tests will be reported as I think of more things to try.

Good report man. I seem to have no issue with my Fleet Mogai/Fleet D'd. They still preform in STFs just as normal. When my scimitar isnt bugging out on me it preforms just as good as my fleet mogai. I have them set up pretty similar since they use same boffs.

Ive done testing as well, crew death is out of control, turnrate, shield regen are both bugging but nothing i can see is triggering the bug litterly warp in flip a coin and there is your outcome.

I dont expect my scimitar to do the exact same thing my mogai does, its flight speed is far to low and its defense value isnt the same. But it should perform similar which it does bout 40-50% of the time, rest of the time its like my shields and hull dont exsist at all.

Borg have always been able to 1 shot us, my FAC tanks the gates up close while laying down crazy fire with A2B i dont expect my scimitar to do that since its not as tanky boff layout wise. But i do expect it to not get instagibbed by a sphere torpedo like it has been not even my FAC takes hits like this in the same situations.

Thats why i say this thing has bugs, some we know which are obvious, some seem to occur randomly without a cause. My exp with ships tells me its very bugged. Not just cause of "Oh WTF i got 1 shotted" in an stf its the manor and way that these things are happening, and that they happen OUTSIDE the stfs too. Ive played for 3+ years, i know my ships, builds, doffs, etc. And i find it rude and insulting that people come in here and tell us all "Must just be you guys".

Know what happens when other people get bugs with things and i dont? I help test them to recreate them i dont tell them they are just bad. 1st sign that something is wrong we all are getting the crazy crew death. If we all are getting that 1 thing then maybe yall should believe some of us are getting the rest of the bugs? After all bugs are like cockroaches where theres 1 there is usually more, am i right? I mean look at how many the kumari had.

Throw the Borg Defector Mk XII and Borg Eng Mk XII + Jem Shield XII + 1 Mk XII Neutronium armor

add a Polarize hull 3 - aux to structual integraty field - brace for impact doff - tech doffs - aux to battery

Have max skills to - structural, manuvers, shields, engines(6 min), aux(6 min), EPS transfer(6 min), warp core efficent, warp core potential

Have zero ground traits - only space.

then let me know if you are still having problems

FYI, Borg invisible or HY torp sometimes one-shot people regardless of what ships you have. I am surprised you didn't blow up immediately. This is not a Scimitar issue, you should do search and you'd know these super torp exist for a very long time.

FYI You have no idea what you are talking about, when this happened I was in a Romulan daily, set on Elite difficulty fighting the Tal'shair. So next time why dont you try not to make an assumption?

I am in no way attempting to be insulting. neither have i tried painting myself as anything special.. I DO come in first to third in every estf i fly and yeah, i do take aggro a lot. i'm one of Donatras favorites.. But i simply would sincerely like to see all our data on the table where we can help pin down whats wrong, instead of just complaining about it ( not that we have been in this thread. I'm just saying ). the Scimi has the potential of being an amazingly awesome ship and if we can help the devs pin down the culprit/s maybe we can get that ship..

Look. Maybe i'm reading the numbers wrong but heres where i got them. you can make up your own minds.

I'm very curious how you think advocating for countless aux heavy powers while running a doff and power setup that means you're going to have negligable aux power is a good thing.

Or how you manage to put an extra LC boff seat on the ship for that matter...

This is not data as you may think it be, but Ill put out some gut feelings I have, based on my time in sto.

A previous poster here recomended removing the special console for the scimitar. I did that it feels as though it helped a little. THe one time I used the fighters from the hanger bay, I went boom fast. So Ive been staying away from using my fighters. Ive had some success cloaking each time I destroy something and keeping my distance. I still have the issue of my hull dropping rapidly without warning, with just one torp or distruptor hitting me. I wish I could be more precise, but I cant. I am guessing here from what Ive seen so far.

There is a possibility and would explain why no rep from cryptic has responded to this thread. All the special consoles have to do with cloaking or enhancing the shields of the ship. So it is a distinct possibility that they greatly gimped the hull, because of the special consoles for the ship. My personally If that is the case id rather have a non gimped scimitar without a special console then a hull that melts away rapidly.

Welll, I noticed this with Klingon ships originally. Here were ships that over all had lower hull strengths than federation ships, and yet you simply could not kill them,. the romulan ships came along and they all have good looking hull numbers but every single one of them pops like a balloon before theyve taken even half the damage a fed or a klingon. the scimitar appears no different.. I think your correct about the gimped hull/s. and if they revisited the original bug with the Kumari, then things would be quite bad ( and cryptic doing some quite silly things ).. I could probably remove the thaleron and live without it as every other ship in the game does, but it is quite a nice tactical advantage to a team ( one guy yesterday did 140K of damage in one shot with it. we all went home a lot sooner than expected ; )

Rofl, didn't the Enterprise A have the same problems at the end of Star Trek IV? Scotty was real upset in V about the monkeys that assembled it. I guess the same engineering firm that built the A built some of these Scimitars. I suggest a class action lawsuit for the defective craftsmanship and loss of lives these quality control failures have caused. Such waste. The death toll must be unimaginable. So many poor Romulans losing their lives because someone didn't want to pay for premium force-field generators, good Singularity core containment, and better inertial dampeners. This is the gorram Event Horizon all over again!

Lol my Scimitar is called EVENT-HORIZON...

Some of you are not seeing the bugs with damage spikes others are.... BUT, this is effectively three ships, is just one of the variants bugged?

I use the falcion variant with full set bonus and i get the bug with shields not charging, hull taking massive damage without shield being effected, DOT on hull with nothing to cause it. And massive damage spikes

Pretty sure it's Warbirds in general that have the "massive damage without shields being affected" bug. I fly a fleet Mogai and have the same issue, where my shields will be full and my hull drops to 10-15% or so... as well as the odd "full hull, take 26K damage critical, explode when you should still have 40-50% hull" bug. I also had a fleetmate spot a Scimitar in action that maintained the decloak damage bonus permanently, even when remaining cloaked. Definitely some strange things afoot at the Circle K...

Your attacks are all kinetic based with an emphasis on bleedthrough, they can be easily dodged if the recipient knows what they are doing.

If the said build has very high damage resistance, which implies it's not based on Shield Power, then such resistance can be achieved with very high Aux to certain skills such as Polarize Hull 3. More to the point, the said captain can max out both hull plating and armor skill points, + 2 Neutronium alloy Mk Xii purple + other resist boosting abilities. More importantly, PH3 at max Aux power creates an astronomical damage resistance in addition to the already strong innate damage resist.

So it's possible to have such highly resistant build, tough to kill. The downside of such tank is that its attack would be weaker as well. Just because he is using the tact version doesn't mean all 5 consoles are filled with tact consoles. Instead, the choice of which Schim should be guided by which + power you want? For me weapon power is a waste, so the tact version makes no sense.

In order to kill this kind of tank, assuming no hack is used, you need a series of high burst damage as opposed to sustained DPS in a very short period of time. This is tough to do for a T'Varo. Next time, if you want to destroy him, get yourself a Nukara Web mine, have DPB3 + APO1. Sensor Scanne with maximum Aux, find a way to immobilize him like Graviton Pulse, decloaked Alpha with DPB3 with Nukara Mines.

    1) Sensored Scan, right out of cloak, aux = 125
    2) Fire Anti-Matter Spread
    3) Tractor him, fire Gravition Pulse
    4) Subnuke to remove any buffs such as Polarize Hull or APO
    5) Activate TT, APO, DPB3 with Nukara Web Mines and everything else you got such as any Torpedo Spreads and/or Cluster Torp
    6) Watch him implode with 24K X 8 = 192K in base damage, without even any Crit

*crosses fingers* Here's to hoping it's resolved soon. It's an awesome ship when it works but trying to predict when your shield will turn to paper is near impossible it's got me totally baffled. I've had full shields , double shields on , reverse polarity and every buff I can think of at the same time and I still die in like 3 seconds it's kind of embarrassing to die that quickly.:o

Now, here's a good thing about playing on an old computer. I have my settings lowered so I wasn't even aware there was a thalaron cloud! All I see are a sort of green waves as the wings move to fire, and then that's it. I had no idea I was causing trouble to other people.

It is pretty easy to Not Die in a Scimitar... Play it more like a BoP and less like a Cruiser and you will destroy the ever loving Tribble out of everything and rarely even be able to be shot at. (Assuming you are running the full set anyway.) Also using tanking buffs and secondary shielding before Thalaron Pulse helps a lot.

yeahh.. Most things dont bother me too much.. they'll knock me down but i hit EPTS, TT1, Secondary shields and science team 1 and it comes back up fairly decently.. But its the one shots and Donatras keen sense of having me in the middle of her weapons firing cone. I dont think theres anything that can help out with those..

The only reason why the Scimi feels that squischy is because her subsystem power is too low, if you swap your energy to shields, it becomes pretty tanky ;)

I'd say a buff , increasing the Scimis subenergy by 10-20 ( maybe 15?) would fix the problem

Reason it feels squishy is cause of that shuttle bug, go read the gameplay bug forum. I dismissed my shuttle and the ship started preforming like my other ships. Once the other bugs gets ironed out will be a truely fine ship.

this bug didnt apply for me o n 5 different characters and nobody of my friends had the same problem ... ;)
If it really rexcists its a random thnig

    Ninjaedit:
Let me explain why the lack of shield power makes it that squischy , most likely with the low shield power you have:
    -less resistances
    -less reg
    -less survalbility

This man is right. Your shield power is directly related to how much damage resistance your shield has. The amount of people that still dont realise this is astounding.

You need to milk all the power you can from that ship to have decent shield power. The energy weapon and torp shield power doffs, the new fleet advanced sing cores, EPTS x 2, all the tricks to keep shield power high. If you dont, then your shields will be weak. No matter what you do, if you run the 3 special consoles you will always be weak, but thats when you use the cloaking to take the edge off it. Its not a ship to just sit there reversing and firing cannons thinking you are awesome. This ship actually needs skill to work properly.

That is why with Donatra I make it is a very serious habit to have either Evasive Maneuvers or Deterium Surplus ready to get me out of the way when she goes for her pulse.

Reduce weapon power a touch, add a bit to aux power for your eng heals. Use aux, then shield, then weapon batteries in that order. Also use a plasmonic leech. Et voila, high shield, aux and weapon power levels, along with hull heals for when your shield leak like a sieve.

Not a fix, but certainly a workaround.
