my launcher downloaded 9.8gb but files in my prepatch foler is 7.5gb. my theory is, those .hogg files were compressed. the launcher did download many individual .hz files total of 9.8gb, but then compressed to became 7.5gb .hogg files
This was my understanding as well from what I read in the post. I certainly hope it is the case, I don't want to be DLing hoouuurrrsss of this.
i think it;s ok. i tried a little experiment by deleting one .hogg file, and the prepatch redownloading that missing file again. so, 7.3gb or 7.5gb prepatch is fine, i think, cause the launcher won't download anything and just exit
so i start the pre patching when im bout to crash so i wake up and the damn pre patch has crashed so i tried it again i woke up and the pre patch closed itself wtf i hope this gets fixed
every time sto starts after a crash or glitch its another 3 gig patch. and when I log off it breaks download patching. so its grabbing more BW 3g x 10 is 30gb which could affect many bw for there isp. please set it we can download the full patch from a download
Tomorrow at 11 AM PST you can just patch. You won't even need to worry about the pre-patch.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
It always has. This isn't the first content upgrade STO has ever had for the game. There was a big one with FTP too.

Is there any reason I should delete the partially complete pre-patch folder off my hard drive before the LoR launch in case it negatively effects the "normal" download after launch, or is it safe to just leave it as is?
I do have limited bandwidth so having 5 gig patches mess up... really negatively effects my ability to use the internet. So it can't hurt to ask.

The patch tomorrow will be from 6-11 AM, PST. What you're getting now is a pre-patch.

LOL, so after the debacle that was the prepatch (never could successfully complete, after many attempts) now that LoR is live the real patch worked! Not flawlessly, but unlike the prepatch it actually succeeded.
For the LoR go-live, my client downloaded a 6073MB patch. At first it was going really well and I was 89% complete in about 10 minutes. Then I started getting:
"Error 14 - The connection to the server was lost"
The good news was the launcher would retry and continue where it left off. Now why they couldn't implement that with the prepatch is a good question.
In the end it took less than 2 hours total to complete, with most of that time grabbing that last 11%.

I hope STO get's better ...
Assuming it patches even then.

Any idea the time for when LoR will be released?
That's been happening for a week. It's the pre-patch.
LoR will be out tomorrow, maybe 6-7pm GMT.
