STO Legacy of Romulus Pre-Patching Enabled (Now disabled!)

Hi Captains,

Pre-patching for Legacy of Romulus has been enabled! Upon logging out of Holodeck, the launcher will pop up again and start the pre-patch download.

    So it should be around what. 175 megs?
    Should I start posting again after all this time?

    I've always wondered why we can't just pre-patch from the launcher? And if we already have the latest tribble update, will that reduce the download time?

    I hope the pre-patch won't mess up the old (current) version of the client..? Not that I'm so actively playing my starfleet char anymore - way eager to start my Romulan ;)

    Try 2 GB, if this is the same texture patch they had on Tribble last week. It will actually patch 10GB of your files, but the actual download will probably be around 2GB

    Meh I could have done everything they did on tribble in 175 megs.

    Pre-patching now... and it's smaller than 175MB. Halfway through the pre-patch so far and it only downloaded 23 MB of new data.

    Nope. It downloads to a special "prepatch" folder, where it sits idle until its needed for patching. On patch day, the launcher will automatically check that folder and the two test server folders (Playtest and Beta) and move/copy files as needed. Whatever isn't already on your computer will of course be downloaded.

    Hopefully everyone is pre patching.
    Nw downloads/playing "may" have had something to do with the sto problems lately so let's see if we can do the same.

    patch is about 75 megs (provided you had tribble up to date)

    110 megs or so exactly

    Thats about 8 hours of download provided the launcher works.

    ...Wait, the last 3 versions of the launcher haven't worked. Been down over a month Bran, your support guys back from vacation yet ?

    Just had a thought, how is the build finalised ready for pre-patch, with the bugs that are in it?

    Some of them are the kind that missions wont complete still.... :(

    Jumped on real quick for 10 minutes of DOff scheduling, and upon logout it's now downloading 5882 MB of data! :eek:

    The bulk of the download would be *assets* rather than game logic. So you're downloading x gigabytes of textures, sounds, models and animations etc.

    it seems to be 2 versions higher then tribble atm as well. perhaps they will patch up tribble soon.

    the 5.7GB is only for those without upto date Tribble installations.

    Actually, it was a 5 GB actual download when it went to Tribble. (Of course if your Tribble client is up to date, there's no need to pre-patch, and I'd cancel right out - as when LoR goes Live, the patcher will pull the files directly from the 'playtest' directory.)

    It's so big because of the texture redesign. They did some kind of mip mapping pass on every texture in the game, which made for a 4-5 gig patch on tribble... Then they did it a second time a couple weeks later, so everyone who keeps tribble up to date got to do it twice.

    66.3MB so for me, with a patched Holodeck and Tribble.
