They either make 3 factions or cancel the entire thing because what they have done is essentially idiotic beyond comparison. I expect that if they haven't changed things by mid April then they will lose a ton of the players because of this terrible move.
How many people will decide to be "Fedomulans"(fed-dom-u-lans)? or "Federomulans" (fed -der-rom-u-lans)
And which term do you like better?
In DAO, it was the Dalish elves, gypsy elves looking to restore the glory of their fallen empire.I really expected it to be a re-skin half faction like the KDF, causing forum rage in may. This was....wow.Worse than I expected.I truly feel bad for the diehard Romulan fans who wanted their own faction.
I'm guessing KDF, and Starfleet security, will have their hands full ...checking "Green"cards.
Too soon?
Everyone hate new informations about Romulans but when May comes they will be first to create new character , i just love when people rage about new faction that is not exactly what they wanted.
Mommy Mommy I want new faction , when they got one everyone is like....But i don't like this mommy.....why you hate romulan toys mommy...why why why???:D.

Are you TRIBBLE? There is no new faction. You just can't comprehend what's going on, I guess.
Honestly, I fail to see why people are so unwilling to accept the existence of Romulans seeking a less authoritarian and xenophobic Romulan state yet not going so far as to want actual reunification with their Vulcan cousins. Or perhaps reunificationist is simply an easy slander for the Tal Shiar and their ilk to attack reformists with?
I'm unwilling to accept the existence of Romulans who will mortgage their species and their future to their sworn enemies for a little safety.
Those who trade freedom for temporary security deserve neither.
You add a 3rd system and people will bail but you people seem as delusional as the KDF fan base, you are going to be the next 18% and you will suffer the exact same issues as the KDF.
Adding the Fleet system to the Romulan faction at this point would be the death of small fleets because new shinny on the Romulan lawn but they will not stay there, they will come back so you end up with dead or dying fleets outside the major ones, for KDF it would be worst because there are people that play the 2 factions and adding a 3rd would simply overweight then to the point they would make a call on what to support and right now that would be Fed.
Also does the Fleet system contribute anything for the faction?
I might not agree with the system as they are doing but at the same time you think they can add content 1-50, a change to PvP maps, a entire new faction Base along with changes to the existing maps?
PvP is going to have changes, the Fleet system NEEDS to have changes ... Romulans can wait unless you people and you "we are entitled to everything the others have" and "we want it NOW" dont mind dragging everyone down with you because you MUST to have your cake and then we get nothing because of YOU.
At the right time we can ask for changes, right now we must adopt a sit and wait the things that are needed for a healthy faction to exist, not half done system that lead to nothing ... we have the KDF as PROOF were that leads.
Romulan front is level 17-29, this is not going to change with the FE mission being Captain level, thats still 30 levels that need content, hardly a "tutorial"
Same with KDF that needs 25 levels worth of missions.
Like the Romulan Alliance System? Of course you do, it sounds fine to you because you aren't Romulans, you're FED or KDF who are going to make a Romulan alt, it makes a HUGE difference in perspective.
Are you TRIBBLE? There is no new faction. You just can't comprehend what's going on, I guess.
can you read before you post?... romulans are still an faction and they will be , maybe you are new to word alliance or you are so angry because of it that you dont like to think about it.
I ask the devs to eliminate this option of joining the klingons or the federation. This makes no sense. Its really simple if you have captains who fight for the feds and then the other half fights for the kdf, then there can be no Romulan Republic. What you end up with is two factions Waring against each other for control of the Romulan star empire. That is not a faction that is is civil war.
What I request is first Romulans fight for only the Romulan Republic. Two that in the pvp qu you have the option of fighting against Romulan, Federation, or Klingon as only Romulans. Three you create Romulan star bases. If players have to wait a little while longer for a complete Romulan faction believe me they will. Having them join like slaves to either the Federation or Klingons is disgusting.
One last note I was truly looking forward to this expansion. This is no longer the case. I wanted to play a complete independent Romulan faction, not be slaves to the Federation or the Klingon Empire.
And to think that just a few short days ago we were complaining about beign stuck as the Romulan Republic and not being able to play as a proper Romulan Star Empire faction. Now we have the D'tan Republic and are forced to play slave to either the Feds or KDF, and we are desperately clinging to the Romulan Republic we so rightly despised. I don't know how Cryptic managed to do it, but they have managed to make the Romulan faction even less appealing than it already was. Wow.
This thread is precisely why Cryptic should give us most of the facts right from the beginning. They launch their LoR website and then Brandon goes off to Pax and everyone is left to speculate for over a week until the Ask Cryptic comes out.
The players build up all these huge expectations in their imaginations and that leads to nothing but disappointment when the reality sets in. If Cryptic would have just come out and said everything in the Ask Cryptic last Thursday the players would have been a lot less bytchy - because their imaginations wouldn't have had 8 days to run wild.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

You might want to consider the implications of that for the Tal Shiar and Romulans-as-inherently-authoritarian. I am willing to accept Romulans seeking peace with former enemies, if the alternative is people seeking to keep the Romulans in chains in the name of 'security'.

No more inherently-authoritarian than Klingons are honorable, at least. Still, I think a lot of folks would be disappointed if the KDF faction was filled with Romulan sympathizers and Tal'Shiar agents. These romulans are connected to the 'Romulans' only in the sense that they share a species.

Since there's going to be a bunch of D'deridexs (D'deridi?) parked outside ESD next to the Jem'hadar Attack Ships, Breen Chel Grett Cruisers and Temporal Ships - can I please get my T5 Constitution Refit?
I mean seriously, this game couldn't be any more of a Mary-Sue fan-fic farce - just take a laptop to CBS - show them what the game has become and ask them - they'll do one of two things:
a) Say yes.
b) Pull the license and give it to someone that has a clue.
As a friendly reminder to what I posted several pages back, threads that discuss, provide feedback, etc., with the Romulan Republic faction and the alliance are being moved to this thread. This is to keep feedback in one place so it's easier for the Daniel and the devs to read. It also allows the forum to stay clean and other conversations on topics not relating to this one to continue.
Your feedback is important to us and is being heard. Please continue to provide it

If this is true, I think it's more than obvious that all of the Romulan fans would prefer a real 3rd faction, and not just the introduction of a new race being implemented into the existing 2.
That feedback is more than consistent. Guess we'll see what develops.

Either's a win as far as I'm concerned
I doubt CBS cares anything about canon. They want to milk the IP for money. If you don't believe that, you are way to naive.
Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

On the contrary: we know at least one more connection point (namely, that they are using Romulan technology), and there are plenty of story opportunities for more: Romulans are not solely defined by their authoritarianism. Let the rest of the rich culture of Romulus bloom, free of the oppressive atmosphere of the old Empire. And if that means opening up to the rest of the galaxy, why not? Clearly they have much to learn from our glorious Romulan culture, things we could have taught them had not the chains of oppression bound us.
(obviously, the whole 'Romulan Republic ships blowing up each-other at Ker'rat' thing is still a problem...)
this is a long thread of every whiner in the STO forum community. KDF whiners, T5 Connie whiners, now new RR whiners who haven't even played the new faction yet, where are the STF whiners?

Agreed 100%
This having to buddy up with the Fed or KDF Faction is kind of lame.
At 1st I thouhgt that the Romulans were going to to have their own leveling content from 1-50 but now it seems that they will only get some low level missions and then have no choice but to choose a side if they want to have anymore content.
I hope that I'm wrong about this ^^
The Romulans should be a stand alone faction and if Romulan Fleet Star Bases are not ready yet then add them in a year or so.
Romulans should not have to side with the KDF or the Federation just to PVP
Romulans should have a full list of Romulan/Reman vessles to choose from and not have to use Fed or KDF vessels to fill in their gaps.
The more I hear about what's actually comming in May the more I feel like I've been Punked
in fact, i was hoping for a REAL 3rd faction (cause Romulans were to be the model faction).
you know, Romulans first, Cardassians second, then Ferengi, ... + some united generic refabricated Starbase design for all of us "new factions"
so that we could all join the war , everybody from his own point of view.
that way KDF, FED would stay unique, and all smaller factions would only have access to their race's tech, but we could have fleets together (could, not have to).
perhaps this idea hasn't occurred to them yet.
It's occurred to them, that's why were getting this spin from Stahl.
The reality is though that's out of the capabilities of the devs, the budget and the engine.
I'd love to have a real dynamic Star Trek Universe, where we could have at least 3 factions, maybe share the same pve endgame and featured episodes, adventure zones and such, but have multi faction interactions for pvp and some form of territory control, even mining and crafting etc.
It would be awesome to be an independent trader or opportunist, or a member of the dominion, breaching back into the quadrant and establishing a new foothold...it can go on.
Problem is it's just not feasible, 3 faction pvp alone would probably be herculean to implement, let alone adding a real self contained fully realized third faction.
as with anything cryptic does, its will always be close but not quite there, that's not a jab at the people working there, it's a reality of their budget and engine.

so were they just being "Cryptic" about the supposed new faction?(pun intended)
I betcha the issue is the core of the game, they can't add a true faction to the game with out a drastic overhaul and since the devs can't fix old bugs and just throw their hands up in defeat, a rewrite is pretty much never going to happen.
yup, as I said in the main thread, they are unwilling to fix the PVP system so they are going to break Star Trek instead. Its unfortunate, since the only reason this game has had any real success is because people came to play Star Trek in the first place. On the other hand, the surface contact with Star Trek is already very thin (Federation admirals flying Jem'Hadar ships with Reman bridge officers, etc.,), at this point the game only shares artwork with Star Trek universe. I need to adjust my expectations, that's the main lesson.
this is a long thread of every whiner in the STO forum community. KDF whiners, T5 Connie whiners, now new RR whiners who haven't even played the new faction yet, where are the STF whiners?
I see the whiner, whiners are out, it's whinerception.
