Chang's Bird-of-Prey was a prototypeKlingon Bird-of-Prey commanded by GeneralChang in his efforts to discourage the potential peace talks between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. The vessel was equipped with a cloaking device that somehow allowed the vessel to fire its torpedoes while cloaked, an ability once considered impossible on other vessels, due to power constraints.
By the way, considering that the assassination was a three way conspiracy involving subversive Klingons, Starfleet Officers (connected to Section 31, in soft cannon I think) and Romulan Operatives, it's entirely possible that this cloaking technology actually came from the Romulans.
Just like all cloaking tech, including what was on the defiant.
So in May, maybe everyone should be prepared to be out-cloaked.
again, why does everyone assume there is a new faction in may? its a guess and an unlikely one at that.
the problem is that the bops (not exactly being escorts) are the only kdf ships that can turn with fedscorts. yet having to give up hull sheilds and firepower. there is a reason i rarely see our raptors (escorts) in pvp, cant turn with fedscorts
The only way a Raptor can turn like a fedscort is to cycle ApO for the turn buff or stack RCS consoles.
Iether way it still loses out to the fedcorts due to its poor pivot in a dog fight.
After doing some research have found that Chang's bird of prey in "The Undiscovered Country" fired photon torpedoes while cloaked, but actually nothing is said about being/not being able to fire other kind of torpedoes, mines or energy weapons. So we must assume it could fire anything.
I knew I was right about this, but sometimes the memory plays bad tricks.
Ok so the Vesta rolled around and now the Andorian escort to the Cstore... and no Klink mirror of either, as with the oddy pack.
Here is the solution Cryptic.
The Bird Of Prey.
Yes the proto typical Klingon vessel.... the ship that DEFINES what it is to be a Klingon warrior. Its versatility coming from modular design... a ship that can be held together by spit and glue if needed.. and keep fighting. The ship that CRYPTIC has been kicking in the teeth for 3 years.
We know Cryptic is very concerned that if they give the Evil Klinks a proper bop the game may end... balance will be destroyed... rivers will boil ect.
Come on we Klinks lived through the ridiculous B'Rel you released. You where scared no doubt that somehow letting a ship with 24k base hull operate properly the game would have died. Well you did in fact correct the mistake eventually. (thanks for that again I guess)... really though when we see the great concern for balance shown with the vesta and now the Kumari it does make all the old school klinkers chuckle. No balance concerns when it involves fed ship design... move along.
Then there was the fleet debacle... Yes that's what I'm calling it... the Norg... one of my new favorite ships... now that you have given it enough hull to only go pop half as often as it did when it had less hull then a cstore shuttle. LOL Klingon balance Ha.
I will also say that many of the fleet bops don't get the fleet vessel console treatment and that is insulting.
Anyway I will stop sounding negative and get to the point... I am going to show you a way to make MONEY for doing very very minimal work... and make customers happy which will in fact make you more Money... see where I'm going here... pay attention now... $$$$ you can make some easy $$$$$.
Hegh'ta Heavy Bird-of-Prey Retrofit - CSTORE 3 Pack
The Klingon High command, in an effort to strengthen the front lines of the empire. Have tasked the Klingon Defense Force with updating the warfare systems on the empires highest surplus of ships and ship components. The results of their efforts is the New and improved Hegh'ta, Haj and QulDun class Bird of Prey designs. Owing to the Bird of Preys highly modular design that has served the Empire in the battle theater for years, the 3 new Bird classes have been rolled out as Refits of outwardly familiar designs. However looks can be deceiving as all 3 of these new Birds of Prey have the latest in Klingon technology. Recent improvements in multiple studies have provided the Empire with 3 highly adaptable base platforms that her warriors can put to great use. The Klingon Defense force has also developed 3 new systems incorporating captured battle technologies that can be tied into the Bird of Preys systems. To compliment the added fire power of the Hegh'ta class Design Klingon Scientists have tied in a captured Dominion Synergy unit adapting it for use with Klingon standard Disruptor weaponry. This unit operates for short periods of time, boosting the strength of the ships disruptor weaponry, however it is prone to over heating and will off line for a predictable amount of time. Klingon scientists have also used captured Federation technology to enhance the sensors of the Haj bird of prey design. This unit when installed in the Haj weapon platform will provide a instant boost to sensor resolution, applying a 10 stack of sensor analysis to a target. Being that the systems are so vastly different they have only been able to achieve this feat for short durations of time of course a wise warrior will make good use of this advantage. With the QulDun class engineers have been able to adapt a small part of the gorn self repair technology that has served the empire well in the Varnus class of science vessel. This additional piece of tech will launch a small contingent of cloaking self repair drones that will follow and repair any external damage the vessel may take in the course of battle. As an added bonus Empire Scientists have been able to enable a system synergy between the adapted units for Commanders deemed worthy enough to be trusted with all 3 adapted systems. By linking all 3 systems the bird of prey is able to engage a AOE field that improves the battle field in the favor of the Empire. This 5k radius field will increase Disruptor dmg passing into it by 10%, it will also enhance sensor systems providing a 10% resistance debuff to enemy vessels as well as improve effected friendly vessels hull repair rate by 100%.

There it is Cryptic... a Kliingon answer to the Kumari AND the Vesta... we don't need mirror klink versions... we need klink ships that are true to the faction... and one of the only classes that fits that bill is the bird of prey... I am hoping that the recent small bump in stats on the norg... is a sign that you understand how badly you have treated the hand down most ICONIC Klingon class of ships in this game.
The Bop DESERVES a ensign slot... another console... and a third rear weapon point.
Sorry but the full uni design is paid for in Hull and shield numbers in spades.
This idea would give you something you could literly WHIP out as I think most of the code exists... the models already exist... and frankly it would sell as well as any of the fed ships you have spent so much more time on.
Pay2Win PvP would be no viable PvP at all ("If everybody buys the best avaible stuff from our store, end-game PvP is balanced.").
No MMO which has tried that so far was ever successful.
When PvP gets more important for STO, you would have to buy several special consoles in order to be really competitive if things stay the way they are... --> "You wanna do SERIOUS PvP, go ahead invest 8000-10000 Zen." No thanks.
A very simple approach for Cryptic would be the establishment two separate PvP leagues:
One which permits special consoles, one which does not. At first, the special console league would seem more prestigious, but in time it would become the Pay2Win league where everybody has the same set of must-have special consoles. The really serious people would refrain from playing in the "I win button league".
1.)bortas'q first kdf ship with 5 tactical consoles and no turn ratio costing ~70 mil EC
Who would have bought that ship instead a lockbox from exchange at same price ?
Even now they still could make some money from bortas'q by enhancing it turn rate and make it equal to JHEC for example.(12)
That can be done after they fix the kumari issue by releasing some good escort/bop to kdf because now there is another issue , the fact that most kdf players don't thrust any more Cryptic. That is the major issue in this moment in my opinion and that it should be fixed first.
(Personally I won't buy a buffed bortas'q until I don't have an kdf equivalent to kumari)
2.)Fleet somraw - before patch some did know the shield ratio was bigger but it was advertised otherwise.I didn't buy that ship because it was very possible to buy it today and tomorrow the bugged shield ratio would make the ship not worthy if Cryptic would have lowered to the advertised value. The price was 2000 zen and you needed a console (in the eventuality they fixed the shield ratio as stated initially) that costed around 30 mil EC .So the real cost to have a similar ship to fleet patrol was 58 mil EC/char.
Now they fixed the shield mod and the price is ok for it but unfortunately as I said many times kumari raises the level for kdf escorts with 2 marks.
Fleet somraw could be a good sell and money maker for Cryptic if it would get 5 fore weapons and 5 tactical consoles. The single bad thing is that are not so much raptor pilots left on kdf side and that is not a c-store version it is a fleet version.
3.) The vet destroyer could be a good money maker for Cryptic I think if it gets the 5 fore weapon slot and a buff in turn ratio(+2) and +1 console .
All kdf raptor pilots would buy it and I guess many bop pilots would buy it too.
(Personally I would love to fly such a ship)
4.)3 bop package as proposed probably will have most sales among kdf due the fact that most of kdf are bop pilots.Personally I would buy it and switch from raptor to bop
Maybe it should need some enhancing because again we started the discution with one kumari specs and now kumari is going to get another buff (tribble notes)
Anyway it is Cryptic's turn to make the next move and choose to build the most economical design (having lowest costs) if wants that kdf faction have a chance to grow in future.
"There already is a Borg faction, its called the Federation. They assimilate everyone else's technology and remove any biological or technical distinctiveness and add it to their own."

I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Even turn rate of 10 would do the trick, for me.
The funny thing is that they did learn from their mistake: if you compare the Ambassador and the Kamarag, you can't help but notice that they did get that one right :P
+15 Power to Weapons
Standard Cloaking Device (at 96% cloaking effectiveness) =>normal cloak
Anyway I see a bortas'q pack after a kdf equivalent for kumari

I used this word called "maybe" - here is a definition of it that I found on the internet for you.
I knew I was right about this, but sometimes the memory plays bad tricks.

I think bortas'q needs more than a turn buff
(Kamarg already has 10.5 so 11-12 i think it should be)
Hull Strength: 43,500
Maximum Warp: 9.96
Turn Rate: 5.5 => 11-12 better 12
Impulse Modifier: 0.15 => 0.17-0.19
Shield Modifier: 1.0
+15 Power to Weapons
