ok some notice that testing was going to be done and an estimated timeframe of how long the test would be going on would have been greatly appreciated . . . it we at least had that, i wouldnt be so annoyed at the fact that the exact same things that were happening yesterday is happening today.

This morning it played just fine, now I cann't get on. Having same problem and getting frustrated with the thing. I like the game but would like it more if it worked.
as you can see in the tracelogs, exactly like yesterday... if i was british or picard, i'd sit back and drink a nice cup of earl grey, hot. :P
I suppose I should just reply on every page so that some people may actually stop posting all the traceroutes...
None of the traceroutes in this posting have actually given any useful data. The failure was a router that was responding and not allowing traffic behind it, which traceroutes to launcher didn't show.
That being said, the traceroutes now aren't failing in the same spot (they're not failing at all really). The problem is that the webserver (the server that is running that allows patching) was taken offline for "testing".
This is the biggest problem with using a forum to disseminate information to the masses. People read page one then post and close it. Only a select few read the following discussions to find out whats going on... so every two posts is a traceroute for last nights problem, and the community manager posts are littered in the mess and no one can read them.
The issues may or may not be on Cryptic's end. We have no way of knowing one way or the other. Though I do suspect this connection issue has something to do with the storm currently over much of the Midwestern area of the United States. Branflakes has already posted an update about the situation and we already know Cryptic is looking into the problem. There is no reason we can't do something for an hour while they look into the problem. It's not like this happens on a weekly basis.

Am having the same problems, been playing this game for several hours after they first fixed it, now its doing it again am stuck in the loading screen and it is not working whats going on
the testing was over an hour ago and the launcher wont launch now i know you guys at cryptic are doing your best but a little message of whats going on now would be nice the silence is uneasy
bout 5 min ago the game stopped responding during a loading screen, and now when im trying to start the game back it goes back to that patch thing and nothing else ,,
i mean is this gona be a daily thing ,
what i can look forward to not being able to play when i have the time now ?? or what
Right, Cryptic start doing tests and everything breaks like it did yesterday.
Its totally not Cryptic's fault things broke yesterday even though their tests produce the same breaking result without any prior notice ahead of time of the tests. I find it more likely Cryptic broke something, tried something else and it is still broke but they are spinning the PR wheel into saying it was an intentional test.
Oh but the breaks happened before the patch - Uh huh, so what exactly was Cryptic doing BEFORE that patch, huh ?
It's a conflict with a program named : "Pando Media Booster"
Desactive it and you can launch your game again
I can assure you its not.
I removed pando the second the game tried to install it. I haven't run it in months. And all of my testing is from a linux server in san antonio... which definitely isn't running pando.
For those that just posted their tracerts above (mrbaconsah daeceis and zetaeffritt), if you can, can you re-run and paste your results here after pointing to accounts.crypticstudios.com? For those that are planning to post, please post tracerts for launcher.startrekonline.com and accounts.crypticstudios.com -- this info will be very helpful to the Engineers.
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=

Sorry for the delay, repairing a faulty RAID array
I just checked in with the team and they are running some tests with our external routing vendor to try and identify where the cause of yesterday's issues lies. If you're having receiving an error, please try again in a few minutes while they complete their tests.
Cheers,

Ditto, was working earlier as reported, now its launching IE to this address: res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff_webOC.htm after showing a white screen with "Loading: Please wait" on it, and finally showing the IE "This program cannot display the webpage" page (inside the launcher).

I don't even have Pando Media Booster installed, so no, it's rather not a conflict with that program. At least not, if we leave the conspiracy theories out of the picture.
If we don't, hell yeah, they are ALL against us...
