How to transfer ZEN to Star Trek Online

ashleyaddictionashleyaddiction Member Posts: 339 Arc User
There seems to be some confusion with Perfect World's ZEN system and how to turn ZEN into C-Points. I'll go through the process of how to purchase and transfer ZEN to STO with pictures, just in case.

Step 1 - Purchasing ZEN

Note: You must be logged into a Perfect World Entertainment account to be able to purchase and transfer ZEN.

At the top of the STO website, you'll see the navigation bar. On the navigation bar you'll see a "Charge ZEN" button. Hover over this, then click "Purchase ZEN".

http://i45.tinypic.com/16k6q3c.png

Next, you'll see the following screen. (Payment processors may vary per region. The below screenshot is of the European Region.)

http://i46.tinypic.com/2qajv9s.png

Select your desired payment processor and the form will automatically take you to the next step. Once your payment processor is selected, you'll be presented with the following page with the different amounts of ZEN you can purchase.

Note: 1 USD is equal to 100 ZEN. 100 ZEN is equal to 80 C-Points. 0.90 EUR is also equal to 100 ZEN. There is no increase on C-Points to the dollar.

http://i45.tinypic.com/xrc7p.png

Once you've selected your amount, click "Checkout" and you'll be taken to the payment processor you chose earlier to purchase your ZEN. After the transaction is completed, you'll be returned to Perfect World Entertainment's website.

Note: If this is your first purchase, you may be subject to a fraud check. This usually takes a few minutes but may take up to 24-48 hours to complete.

Step 2 - Transferring your ZEN to Star Trek Online

Once your ZEN has been delivered, you're ready to transfer it.

Under the "Charge ZEN" menu again, click "My Wallet".

http://i47.tinypic.com/2ii9106.png

You'll be taken to your Perfect World wallet and you'll be able to check your balance and see how much ZEN you've purchased previously. This is also where the transfer happens.

From the drop down list, select Star Trek Online, then select the server, and finally, how much ZEN you'd like to transfer. Then hit transfer.

A popup will appear for you to confirm the details of the transfer, confirm it and you're done! You can now purchase items from the C-Store.

No problem ^^ PWE's system is confusing for newcomers, so hopefully this'll clear the air slightly [:

Seriously?? 24 hrs for a check??

Please ditch this Zen malarkey, and go back to the old way of getting C-Points. This new way is too time consuming, and too many hoops to go through get C-Points...

it seldom takes 24 hours. and cpoints are dead http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=280551 get over it. once you get your account set up purchasing zen takes seconds.

Do not make comments like "get over it" please, as it can be seen as a negative comment. Yes it might not take 24 hrs, but it's still a long enough wait.

And yes I saw the post about about C-Points being a thing of the past...

Why not use Paypal or another payment processor? Most of them are instant. o.o Cheques are becoming obsolete these days anyway (I can't think of any big business in England that accepts cheques, banks don't even hand out cheque books anymore).

Before I start: It only takes seconds for Perfect World to transfer ZEN to your account after the purchase. Transferring ZEN to CPs is almost instant.

But the question is why should I purchase ZEN and make all the detour when I can directly purchase CPs via Steam? Is there any difference???

No difference ATM (except the buy 5K ZEN get bonus thingy), but CPs will cease to exist soon.

    And to answer your "why":
PWE has nearly a dozen games in its portfolio, all with different currencies (fitting the playworld). From a sellers view, it makes sense, from a players view only if you play several titles (buy ZEN in bulk, spend 2K on STO, rest on PWI for example).

This seems like a huge pain in the TRIBBLE, and is probably a deal breaker for me not to ever sink money into this game, shame for you, because I probably would buy all kinds of fluff if it were easier.

"Buying ZEN for the first time can be a little overwhelming"

    I laughed at that part.

I cant even find a place where I can see how many zen points each $ gets so I can do another conversion into c-points, also, I am reluctant to do any business with a company that affiliates itself with that 'win a free ipod' survey garbage. Peanuts indeed.

When you go too http://billing.perfectworld.com and choose Charge Zen (or just the link at the very top) it tells you the break down of how much zen you get per USD.

However the going rate is 1 USD = 100 Zen :)

ok first of all i have never used/played any game or ever even been to the the pwe web site (save to link accounts) so i have no idea how/what zen is. i know it has replaced cstore points and that is all.

i need a step by step guide on how to buy cstore points. this is my 1st mmo game ever, im a 800 plus day lifer (as well as a complete non-computer guy). im used to just going to the sto web site, clicking on "buy cstore points" clicking on a bundle and getting my points. i need help here so i'd appreciate it very much.

    please keep the mockery down.

now, can anyone help me out here?

    thanks.

I too would like to hear someones account on how the transaction process is handled now. I am like the OP here accept I have never bought c-poits at all. I've lived off my stipend.
Next week I am buying my Armitage ship.

that fact that we have to ask these question says alot about how non-simple it is to buy stuff from PWE.

    should be
    click buy
    then enter payment info
    click confirm
    done.

it all should happen in game and not require you to go to an external site.

I should have read the fine line, $20.00 for 2000 Zen points, but in reality after transferring the 2000 over you end up with 1600, that's a big chunk gone for nothing.

    Why?

    Because $1.00 = 80 cp

So what do you do when there is no server to select in the drop down menu box, only "No Characters"? I bought Zen and cannot transfer it to Star Trek. Yes I do have an Star Trek account and PWI account.

Ok, So I bought some Yen (2000). I selected it to go to my Star Trek Online game. It only lets me select 1 server (PW) server. But, here's my problem. I had an old account I started playing again and it is on the Cryptic Server. When I transfered the Zen, like I said above, it went to the PW account. How can I get Zen to my Crypic characters?

    Thanks in advance.

I can't even get this far because it's still saying I need a level 10 character to even try, even though my characters are all admirals. Are there plans to fix that? I guess they don't want me to buy anything.

Try logging in all of your characters, one at a time. That might reset the system for you. You should also do a Forced Verify from the Options menu in the Launcher to check for program glitches on your computer.

And most importantly, when you have tech issues, post in the Tech forum, as Devs are in there reading threads about bugs whereas they almost never come into this forum. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

im have an issue buying zen, i can add funds to steam in lots of ?4, thats how ive bought c-points in the past, and it used to give me 500c-points for ?4, now the Z-points are ?4.50 for 500.
so i have ?4 sitting in my steam wallet, i could add another ?4 but then id end up with ?3.50 in my steam wallet, i also only wanted to buy 25 more doff slots so im not going to add more funds. pwe should make purchases by steam wallet ?4 lots not 500z-point lots
The avalanche has already started; it is too late for the pebbles to vote.
